Sony’s poised to release its first official arcade stick for the PS5 and PC in the coming months, but it may need to get its hardware engineers to cook up something else.
Digital Eclipse, the game preservation specialists behind the upcoming Mortal Kombat Legacy Kollection, has announced Golden Tee Arcade Classics for PS5 and PS4.
Due out digitally on 17th July – with a physical version to follow on PS5 from 24th October – this compilation will collect eight trackball classics from Incredible Technologies, including: Golden Tee 3D Golf, Golden Tee 97, Golden Tee 98, Golden Tee 99, Golden Tee 2K, Golden Tee Classic, Shuffleshot, and World Class Bowling.

Some of these games have been playable on the PS1 in the past, but here you’re getting the arcade originals, with digital trackball support.
Reading the press release, the DualSense’s touchpad will be supported for gameplay, or you’ll be able to use traditional analogue stick controls. We wonder if the touchpad could be the optimal way to play here – it’ll certainly be worth trying.
As you’d expect from these all-time pub classics, there’ll be full turn-based multiplayer support, and even a new Mulligan mode that’ll allow you to retake a shot if you mess up.
It doesn’t seem like this game will have all of the documentary features of Digital Eclipse’s other releases, but we’re satisfied with the more straightforward preservation here. You can check out a trailer for a taste of what to expect above.

As featured in every single pub in the late 90s.
Also this will be a great use of the touch pad on the controller.
Sony really needs an internal team like digital eclipse for all of their classic games.
What if I connect an old mouse which has the ball underneath. Flip dat over and there we go, a small trackball. MAtch made in heaven if the mouse is a PS2 connection. Sorry, I am old... moving along...
Well that’s cool! Bit young for these but I played an old machine in an arcade a couple times, good fun.
These guys release kaydance is so consistent. I hope they can keep this up in the future.
I remember playing these a few times. I always sucked at them because I was a stupid kid and would spin the track ball as hard as I could each time, lol.
I was hoping this would mean we were getting some really cool Centipede remake.
Love golf games, so the more of them the better as far as I’m concerned… regardless of how old they are.
@Critonic Centipede and Missile Command done by Housemarque or Jeff Minter 😃
I wish Digital Eclipse went back to doing another collection similar to their Atari 50 and team up with some other company, something like, Rare Replay's 40th anniversary would be awesome!
Smart move Atari made purchasing DE. I’m looking forward to this collection and yes a trackball would be nice so I can also give Arkanoid another go!
With how far touch screens/pads and analogue sticks go yeah they just can't replicate a track ball.
But like the 90s PS1 or PC controllers that did or the 3D trackball ones I more so mean, we don't see them sadly.
Not as familiar with these games but I mean yeah. Pong or others would benefit from them. Maybe VR.
These games are legit great. I like my golf games a bit more wacky, but these are fun.
@Jrs1 Yes!
