I'm excited for this and it'll likely be a day one buy for me, but man is the color palate for some of the environments in this game dull as dishwater. So much gray and brown. And a number of the archetypes like really same-y.
I think it looks nice but I'm left wondering if there's enough to keep me hooked for any sustained amount of time. All the footage I've seen seems pretty light on gameplay.
I played both, I think if the third installation delivers as well as the second has then I'd have no problems putting this version over the original, and I played the original in that sweet spot as a kid just learning about adult themes. Rebirth is a marvel.
As someone who doesn't have the keen technical eye for FPS and textures like seemingly the entire rest of the internet possesses, I'm beyond hyped for this one. Can't wait.
I'm all for ripping on these companies for the shady and disappointing stuff they do but this ng+ furor comes off so incredibly forced sometimes. It would be cool if it were included but it's hardly some grave offense that makes the idea of buying this game unfathomable. Not being able to replay a 100 hour game at a little bit of a higher difficulty is enough to dissuade people from actually playing it the first time? I guess I don't understand that.
This is a fantastic series but honestly, the one thing that turned me off from this particular version is the addition of the former players. I like this franchise for its cartoonishness, not so much the introduction of real world players.
For me maybe the most surface level game of the year. The highs were extremely high and well crafted but so much of it was empty and shallow. I felt pretty disappointed with it.
I thought the show was largely fine and I fully agree on BG3 winning GOTY, but the producers have to rein in people like Mackie who go up there and ramble or the obligatory Kojima segment where he showed pretty much nothing, all while half the winners' names get read in a second with either no acceptance speech or just a brief moment on stage. It's disrespectful to them.
@Blaze215 Well first off, it's hard to take you seriously if you couldn't even finish a game that's widely being lauded for it's quality in terms of writing, characterization, world building, visuals, etc. Not to mention claiming that HL was ignored simply due to ideology. Anyway, we're not getting anywhere so agree to disagree. 👍
@Blaze215 You can make an average game from scratch, why would you put that on the same level as Baldur's Gate 3 or Alan Wake 2? You can keep shifting the qualifications but that still doesn't address the quality of the game which, in this case, is pretty but incredibly thin. It's a nice game but it becomes quickly apparent how lacking it is in a number of areas.
And no, I wouldn't have RE4 in the final group, I'd have any number of other games instead but none of them would be Hogwarts Legacy. I just don't think it's good enough.
@Blaze215 Modern Warfare and Madden sell like crazy despite being messes or retreads of the previous editions, no one would put them up for these awards which award quality, not quantity sold. Slap the HP label on a bag of vomit and it'll sell well, that's not the point. This game is nowhere near the quality of the ones that got nominated for Game of the Year.
@Blaze215 A nomination in what category? Because this was a game that looks nice at the surface level but realized has minimal depth to it past the first five hours or so. Forget ideology, it's just not that special of a game.
And Baldur's Gate will win because it's a well-crafted piece of art rather than just another empty open world.
Hmm, I'll still get it in the coming months as a thin story is actually kind of okay with me given how enormous Royal was, I just cannot stand those chibi character models and it's inexplicable to me why they went in that direction.
Preordered and very excited for it. I've zero interest in using my phone for remote play and the lack of Bluetooth doesn't bother me at all as long as I can play my games while my wife watches her shows and movies on our bigger TV.

Re: Octopath Traveler 0 (PS5) - Perfectly Fine JRPG Action
I'll gladly take more of the same, I think this franchise has been wildly underrated.

Re: PS Portal Keeps on Defying Odds, UK Makes It a Best-Seller
I love mine and I think it's a great product. The outrage over it seemed overblown to me at the time and it appears the market might agree.

Re: Waiting for SEGA's New Crazy Taxi? Fill the Time with Taxi Life, Hitting PS5 in March
Looks nice, but kind of annoyed that a base price of that amount only has one city to choose from. Would bet my house on future cities being paid DLC.
Re: Football Fans Anticipate an Update on PS5's EA Sports College Football This Coming Week
The update being Madden but with a layer of college football paint slapped on it because that's probably all the game will be.

Wow what an original casting.
Re: Super Mega Baseball 4 Is Coming to PS5, PS4's EA Play Catalogue

Re: Game of the Year: #2 - Baldur's Gate 3
With respect to the other great games that came out this season, BG3 should be the slam dunk top pick.
Re: Game of the Year: #5 - Final Fantasy 16
For me maybe the most surface level game of the year. The highs were extremely high and well crafted but so much of it was empty and shallow. I felt pretty disappointed with it.
Re: Game of the Year: Best PS5, PS4 RPG of 2023
FF16 was probably my personal biggest disappointment of the year.
Re: Game of the Year: Aaron's Top 5 PS5, PS4 Games of 2023
I think this might be the list most unlike mine, though Alan Wake should definitely be up there imo.
Re: Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader Gets First Major PS5 Patch, Expect Another Before Christmas
Really excited for this one but going to give it another month or so until most of the wrinkles have been ironed out.
Re: Feature: Best PS5 Announcement at The Game Awards 2023, as Voted By You
Jet Set Radio alone would've been enough to launch it to the top spot for me but those other five games as well? Clear choice imo.
Re: Poll: Was The Game Awards 2023 Worth Watching?
I thought the show was largely fine and I fully agree on BG3 winning GOTY, but the producers have to rein in people like Mackie who go up there and ramble or the obligatory Kojima segment where he showed pretty much nothing, all while half the winners' names get read in a second with either no acceptance speech or just a brief moment on stage. Re: Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader Review (PS5) - An Expansive CRPG Worthy of the Setting
I honestly had no clue this exists. Might wait it out until a couple patches iron things out, but I can't get enough of this genre.
Re: Poll: What Is Your PS5, PS4 Game of the Year 2023?
BG3 (comfortably so), Spidey, Octopath Traveler 2 in my top-3.
Re: Massive PS Store Sale Makes 2,800+ PS5, PS4 Games Cheaper Than Ever
Picked up Sudden Strike 4 to scratch the RTS itch.

Re: Feature: Celebrating 10 Years of PS4 with Our Favourite Games
Red Dead 2 is a game that I don't think will ever be surpassed for my tastes. How I wish I could experience it again for the first time.
