@johncalmc this was such an amazing review (albeit for a really bad game). Read it out loud to the missus and we were both nearly crying from laughter!
I will never understand why some rogue-likes also get referred to as metroidvanias. The defining features of each genre is how progression & exploration work. And they seem incompatible by definition! I don’t see how any game can possibly be both!
@DrVenture69 The last game is not a remake in any way whatsoever. It is 100% a sequel. It even reference events & characters from the 2014 game. It’s really stupid they didn’t just call that one LotF 2, and the upcoming game 3.
I agree PlayStation management is clueless. The real reason they’re doing well this generation is just lack of competition. Just because Xbox is managed worse, doesn’t mean PS is managed well. They seemed much better during the PS4 era.
I cannot forgive Sony for making (or even letting) BluePoint waste years on a Live Service boondoggle, rather than the obvious Bloodborne remake and/or sequel. It’s insane!
I can’t believe some PS4 games, like this one, are getting PS5 patches & then also remasters. Meanwhile Bloodborne & RDR2 get nothing, still stuck at 30pfs
@Dan-The-Van Hellblade 2 was so awful, I still haven’t been able to bring myself to finish. And I liked the first game. The only good thing about the sequel are the phenomenal graphics.
Pre-Trump era, when the game came out (the first time) it would have been a hard choice. But now… humanity deserves to go extinct. Let the giraffes inherit the earth.
I would definitely prefer that new games move to a new setting, and I think Egypt would be great. Ancient Latin America (Aztec, Mayan, or Inca) would also be cool.
I’d be happy to ALSO get remasters or remakes of the original Greek trilogy (and PSP games). But I definitely wouldn’t want them instead of new games in a new setting.
It’s got to be the most stunning game I’ve ever seen, but it’s barely a game. Was so bored, I couldn’t even bring myself to finish it. The first one was a much better “game”’.
My wife and I (mostly) loved “Love Death & Robots” but we’ve been really disappointed with Secret Level. Other than the “New World” & Crossfire episodes (oddly two games we couldn’t care less about), we thought the rest of them have been pretty terrible so far (only seen episodes 1-8). They’re so completely lacking any sort of narrative or context. They seem more like overly-long trailers.
When the PS4 Pro came out CDPR initially said they were not going to update The Witcher 3 for it, but they eventually did. And then of course updated it even more for PS5. So I think they may eventually get around to updating both games for PS5 pro as well.
I didn’t mind the Animus stuff in AC1, but have just found it to be an annoying, immersion breaking, distraction in every game since (though I’ve not played every single game). I also really don’t care for the story bits that connect across the games. The historical stuff is always the best part.
I’m in the $100 savings group. I’m glad I won’t be forced to pay for a drive I won’t ever use (when I eventually upgrade to the Pro). Haven’t bought game on disc since PS3.
And no, it’s not because I’m too lazy to switch a disc. It’s because I live in a small apartment in the city and prefer to not have a lot of physical things with no good place to store them.
@Katsuhono regarding GoW Ragnarok, I remember quite the opposite, that originally it was going to be 2 more full games (making it a Norse trilogy) but that they combined them into the single sequel.
Far from wanting to play games early, I will ALWAYS wait for them to be on sale and get the less buggy, patched version for cheaper. I can’t fathom how anyone has so much FOMO (especially for single player games) that they’d pay extra to effectively be a beta tester.
The ones missing I really wanna see upgrades for are
1. Bloodborne - 60fps @ 4k
2. Red Dead 2 - 60fps
3. Black Myth Wukong - Actual 60fps without frame-gen
> $200 million for those 3 years Sony was involved would be more believable.
@MrMagic but that’s exactly what the article says. Like verbatim: “when it acquired the studio and took full control over the project, it allegedly spent a further $200 million getting the title ready to release.”
@CrashBandicoat thank you for being honest and speaking the truth about PC gaming. I was a PC gamer for many years before switching to consoles, and what you describe is exactly why I switched. Now I spend all of that time fiddling with drivers and settings (like you said, sometimes days), just getting to play games with zero hassle. Maybe a lot of people don’t mind the hassle, but I sure hated it (and that’s as someone who used to build servers as part of my job). It just felt like more work!
@evasdf Thank you! Someone else who agrees that MGS4 was terrible! MGS5 might have been rough in places, but at least it felt like an actual game (with a fun gameplay sandbox), rather than tiny bits of gameplay sprinkled between watching a series of the worst-written CGI movies of all time!

Re: Castlevania Finally Returns with a Brand New PS5 Game in 2026
Please be a metroidvania and NOT a roguelite!!!

Re: Rumour: We've Been Robbed of a Soul Reaver Reboot
Further proof we are living in the worst possible time-line!
Re: Palworld Dev Is Publishing a Metroidvania Action Game with Strong Silksong Vibes on PS5, PS4

Re: Troubled Hyper Light Drifter Dev Cuts Losses with New Game, Confirms Layoffs
I really wish they had just made an actual sequel in the vein of the original HLD. HLB never appealed to me.
Re: Poll: Are You Happy with Your PS Plus Essential Games for September 2025?
Not a great month for me personally, as I’ve already played all 3.
Re: Clair Obscur Will Become a Franchise, Expedition 33 the First Game
@JuiceboxMeister this is exactly what I want!
Re: Clair Obscur Will Become a Franchise, Expedition 33 the First Game
Painters vs Writers please! Maybe even get to play as some characters from each side!

Re: Death Stranding 2 Feedback Was 'Too Good', So Hideo Kojima Made Big Changes
@KundaliniRising333 Hipster is exactly the word I was thinking. Kojima is such a &@#%ing Hipster!
Re: Talking Point: What Are Your Most Anticipated PS5 Games for the Second Half of 2025?
Hell Is Us is my #1 followed by Chronos as #2. I’m sure Ghost of Yotei will be amazing, but as a sequel it feels so much less exciting than new IP.
Re: 'We Won't Make the Same Mistakes Again': Sony Reflects on PS5's Catastrophic Concord

Re: Rumour: Red Dead Redemption 2 PS5 Version Is Real, Out This Year
Excellent news. Bloodborne next?
Re: Reaction: There's Never Been a Better Time to Buy a PS5
Dammit. I just bought a PS5 Pro about a month ago!
Re: Rumour: A BioShock Announcement Is Inbound, and It's a Return to Rapture
@Oram77 Bioshock 2 (including its DLC) is indeed the best. The combat is much better than the other 2 games and the Big Sisters were scary AF.
Re: Blades of Fire (PS5) - Steely Action with Blunt Art and Storytelling

Really? Not Metroid Dread?

@get2sammyb what game is the image at the top from?

Was super into the trailer… then I saw roguelike and now I’m not so sure…
Re: Solid PS2 Action Platformer Sphinx and the Cursed Mummy Gets Surprise PS4 Remaster, Out Now
I wouldn’t call it an Action PLATFORMER. It was 100% a Zelda-like.
Re: Remaster Specialists Are Ready to Target the PS3 Next, And We Can't Wait
Infamous & especially Infamous 2 & it’s vampire DLC!
Re: Analyst Firm Predicts Some Pretty Unimpressive Sales Numbers for Xbox Ports on PS5
@Dan-The-Van Hellblade 2 was so awful, I still haven’t been able to bring myself to finish. And I liked the first game. The only good thing about the sequel are the phenomenal graphics.

Re: Talking Point: Is PSVR2 Worth Buying In 2025?
If it had Half-Life Alyx and ports of more PSVR1 games (e.g. AstroBot, Skyrim) then I’d get one.
Re: Shinobi: Art of Vengeance Is the First of SEGA's Old Franchise Revivals, and It Looks Awesome
So weird (but awesome) that we’re getting this AND a new 2D Ninja Gaiden.
Re: Xbox Game Hellblade 2 Might Be Out for PS5 'Very Soon'
Possibly the most beautiful game I’ve ever played. Sadly, also one of the most boring. Much worse than the first one
Re: Rumour: God of War Is Taking a 'Younger' Kratos Back to Greece

Re: Sony Promises It Hasn't Abandoned the Famous Franchises from Its Past
Besides the obvious Bloodborne, I would really love to see InFamous make a comeback. And then maybe Resistance & Gravity Rush.

Re: Alan Wake 2's Latest Update Tackles PS5 Pro Problems, Includes Toggle for PSSR
If you turn off PSSR, what does it then do? Does it use FSR2 instead? Or just not upscale at all? And how does it look with PSSR on vs. off?
Re: Black Myth: Wukong PS5 Patch Adds Challenge Mode, Maps, Free Armour
@RedRiot193 are you referring to the quality mode or the perf mode? And any idea what kind of frame rate you’re getting on the Pro?
Re: Black Myth: Wukong PS5 Patch Adds Challenge Mode, Maps, Free Armour
I wanna know when the perf mode will actually be 60fps and not 30 with framegen
Re: 'No Plans' for Cyberpunk 2077 PS5 Pro Patch, CD Projekt Red Confirms

Re: Stealth Issues Still the Focus of Star Wars Outlaws PS5 Patches
Why does anyone buy games at launch???
Re: Like It or Not, This Is Why PS5 Pro Doesn't Have a Disc Drive
@Emmiranda I think you’ve got it wrong. They didn’t count games without a physical version at all.

There needs to be an option for “Dead Space Remake was great but I already own it”

@dskatter the same is true of Rising Revengence! The 360 version is backcompat & thus still being sold digitally!
