Thats a damn shame the 1st 2 were great games also its not nice to see people losing there jobs either

I would love to see those games revived one day, through a full on reboot, starting with BO1, ending in Soul Reaver Defiance, with revamped and enriched story (either by the same Amy Hennig or an equally gifted writer), thus also adding more lore and game content in-between the old titles.

@themightyant You should play the second game, it's even better than the first. They could very well be 1 game split in 2, since SR2 actually starts exactly where SR1 one stops.

I remember when Square Enix sold off these two western studios(Edison Montreal and Crystal Dynamics) and people were talking about how ridiculous it was that they only got $300m for them(plus the removal of a $100m a year upkeep cost for the 1100 employees).

Here we are 3.5 years later with no games released, and Eidos Montreal can’t even get a game picked up, never mind completed. They both appear to be Microsoft support studios now as they were probably the only company willing to spend crazy amounts of money on support studios of this nature and I suspect that gravy train has dried up now when existing contracts expire.

I think the Action RPG part is a bit odd. It's not how i would describe titles in the series, perhaps with the exception of Blood Omen. So, maybe it was a remake/remaster of that?
I really don't think this was a soul reaver remake.

My only memory of Soul Reaver was having a copy I bought in Bali for $2 and then not knowing how to get out of the first area and giving up

@Shinnok789 The story and Lore of SR2 was better but in other ways it felt like a real backslide as the combat and general gameplay was worse, plus the elemental forges all felt samey.

I still love the entire series tho and wish it was brought back as the world of Nosgoth was great.

I never actually played any of the games in the series but I wouldn't mind giving them a try sometime.

The one I care about that is lost in eternal limbo by Eidos is Deus Ex. We need more cyberpunk themed games overall, but especially in the RPG genre such as Deus and CP2077.

Recently played Defiance (and played the Soul Reaver 1/2 remasters a year ago) and bro these games are so good, like the writing and performances in Defiance are incredible to behold.

So.. they cancel a Deus Ex game, then a Kain game, then... what on earth are they doing with the studio? Why did they buy them? Do they even know?

Well I made clear my points in the Crystal Dynamics survey years ago, still have all my answers stored away in a text document.

So whether they just re-release them sure, whether they make a new one if viable, whether they have good ideas and fit the original not make it modern and bland.

I didn't think much with the release to the many Tomb Raider re-releases connection but still.

I have yet to get to the Soul Reaver games or even Stubbs the Zombie, I got them a while ago, but made my purchase to support them.

Bought Gex, both available re-released Soul Reavers and Tomb Raider 2013 I am near finishing my 1st Switch playthrough which would be my 3rd playthrough as had 2 playhtroughs on 360. I haven't gotten the other Tomb Raider games at all (got the PS3 trilogy collection) haven't replayed or tried to finish more then half or so of Rise of the Tomb Raider, not touched Shadow of the Tomb Raider at all.

That aside I need to get onto Deux Ex PS2 re-release so I'll get onto that for digital purchase on PSN. I bought Battle Engine Aquila, did the Blood Rayne games as well and may other Ziggurat releases as well.

There is only so much I and many others can support if others aren't going to and we aren't a sizeable enough audience.

Or whatever the studios plan on doing with their bigger projects.

I had real hope after the remasters, the games have so much promise for a modern reboot. My final hope is Playstation Studios pick it up for a TV show, or a comic series, but I doubt that too.
