The acquisition news today is that Sony has bought E3. They will re-launch it in 2023 and charge every publisher and consumer a premium entry ticket to get in.

@k3lt0n What Sony really should have done is include a huge library of PS3 games available on the PS Store to download without the need of a PS Plus subscription. They should charge a premium price for each game the consumer wants, and they would have to have an online connection to access the servers to play the game.

On the side, If you have a PS Plus subscription, these PS3 games available to purchase would be discounted at a reduced price. As far as PS1and PS2 games, they would be available for streaming.

@k3lt0n if they want to play ps3 games, we have a product for them and it’s called the ps3. They can buy one.

Good. The studio deserves to be shut down and they all need to lose their jobs. Bunch of useless developers praying on the fans by lying to them and trying to chase clout, scamming us trying to fund their stupid project. Good riddance.

It’s bad enough we had stupid “fanboy” wars over PlayStation vs Xbox , the on-going acquisition wars, and exclusivity wars. Now we have subscription wars, PS Plus vs Gamepass.

Everything is a battle for some people. Play on whatever you want and keep your nose out of the business of others. Is that so hard ?

@Juanalf I don’t pay a lot for internet because I don’t need that much bandwidth, I don’t do streaming or uploading or even online play. I just pay for basic internet.

However, people who have weak internet and can’t stream should not be complaining. You get what you pay for. I was being insensitive when I said “cheap”, so forgive me. I get that people have other financial commitments.

@Bismarck some people are too cheap to pay for high-speed internet. They wanted the most affordable option yet complain that they can’t stream games. You can’t have the best of both worlds. You gotta pay up for that high-speed if you care so much about streaming.

@PhantomMenace84 yea I’m way too focused on current games that have come out recently to even care about playing games that are over 15 years old. If they make a modern day remake of my favourite PS3 games then cool, I will support that. But I don’t need PS3 games emulated on my PS5. You know the PLAYSTATION 5 which I bought to PLAY PS5 games on.... LOL.

@Apfelschteiner exactly people who actually care about playing on PS3 would have by now, either bought a PS3 online, are play on the PC through emulation. People who are complaining about it on PS5 on the other hand are just annoying. It doesn’t need to happen, it’s not important and sony shouldn’t waste resources trying to make it happen, I mean seriously it really shouldn’t be up for discussion in 2022.

@Richnj I don’t know really. I do want to play some PS3 games, but I just can’t do it because they are outdated to me , that’s why I prefer a modern day remake. I just don’t know how people can play these games anymore to be honest in the state that they are in, it really shouldn’t be this big of an issue.

@PhantomMenace84 honestly right ?! Who even has time ?? I enjoyed the PS3 generation and I had incredible memories from it, but that’s a chapter that’s now closed. I don’t even get nostalgic over it, I just look forward to new games and experiences.

@DualWielding if it wasn’t for Gamepass, Sony would never even think about revamping ps plus and adding PS3 streaming. The pressure from Microsoft forced them into this situation, they really didn’t care to do it in the first place.

@WizzNL ok yes a good game is a good game. But why are people complaining about not being able to play PS3 games on PS5 ? A system that’s over 15 years old. If you still have a PS3 this shouldn’t be a problem, just continue paying on it. And if you don’t have a PS3 and really wanted to play PS3 games you would have bought one off a second hand retailer by now, if you cared so much. This shouldn’t be an issue in 2022 to complain so much about PS3 emulation.

The people freaking out over this are absolute losers. You seriously want to play outdated clunky PS3 games on the freakin PS5 ? Seriously ? No one cares, Sony doesn’t care clearly and they shouldn’t.

Does anyone actually plan on playing PS, PS2, PS3 games using this service for an extended period of time ? They are just so outdated, you can get a quick dose of nostalgia out of it for an hour but guarantee you won’t last a few hours before quitting. This is why they make remasters/remakes. People freaking out over PS3 cloud streaming , like who cares ? You wanna go back and play PS3 games , seriously ?

@KundaliniRising333 I don’t care at all about online play and live service. No one makes multiplayer games like they used to anymore. I will only supports development teams that can create a solid single player game with no micro transactions (which half of the industry can’t even get right most of the time) I can’t trust Sony with live service after GT7, and I’m not even interested in the online subscriptions they offer.

As usual, you just want answers right away to every question you have. The service launches in June and we are about to head into April. We are still months out, these things sort themselves out over time.

@mvhess right !? Honestly, people are spending more time complaining to developers about release dates and gameplay than they are actually playing and enjoying games. They complain about buggy, messy unfinished games yet they still want games done as fast as possible. You can’t have the best of both worlds, you got to be patient in this industry. Horizon and Elden Ring have so much content, if you really want to 100% each game it can easily last you until the end of summer.

I’m not even anticipating the next State of Play, I’m too busy actually playing my games and enjoying them. Whenever a games ready to be shown, that’s cool, but I’m not counting down the days. Just enjoy what you already have, it takes around 4-5 years now to create and release a AAA game, give developers their space. I guess most people are always chasing the next best thing right away.

@Lup it is not bad at all to want something you like and I only used those games as an example because they came out recently, you don't have to like those games either. My argument is that gamers are just too inpatient. I don't know what game it is that you're personally looking forward to next, but it will get here when it does, there's no need to keep anticipating it and wanting updates on it asap.

I also brought up God of War because lately under any Santa Monica tweet there is an army of people complaining about a release date, which goes back to my original point: It will release when it's ready to release, just be patient. I guess its hard for some people to be patient. I personally can wait.

I hope after this announcement today people can finally move on. Is it just me or are gamers today extremely needy ? Always wanting more and wanting right now. No patience, no appreciation, it’s just never enough. I couldn’t care less about this ps plus service, but I’m sick of hearing people debate on it. It is what it is, and game pass is what it is also.

I think it would be great for the community if people just focus on the present, we just got Horizon, Elden Ring and Gran Turismo 7 and yet people are begging for a God of War Ragnarok state of play. Have you even let these games digest ? What’s the rush ? I couldn’t care less if God of War got delayed, just like Zelda got delayed today. I’m in no rush. People need to find patience and gratitude.

Hey Sammy, this is totally unrelated to the article and completely random, but I’m just curious to ask if you play on any other console other than PlayStation ? I’ve always played on PlayStation but recently I got a Switch and I’m having a lot of fun with it. Having a PS5 and a Switch is honestly a really neat combo.

Wooooow literally every major game. The only one that's still up in the air is this year's AC. You think it's gonna be on MS's stage with Scorpio or Sony's? All AC's have had partnerships with Sony except unity. I guess we'll find out soon
