@wiiware You have to keep in mind they don't own a platform in which they take their revenue and reinvest it into games services, servers, maintenance, research and development logistics distribution etc. I think they average around 24 bil revenue yearly so alot back into operations. Still nice achievement for miyho
@GrimReaper @get2sammyb That's why. bada boom bada bing! The original still exists y'all. For those who don't want the changes, the original and the re-release is there as comfort food
Only mission based elements I'm aware of is in the multiplayer segment of the game not the single player structure unless it's revealed otherwise when more is revealed closer to release
@Mauzuri I remember running across an article on Trails in the Sky in the PSP days and I happen to buy a copy after reading it. Was thoroughly impressed and felt Falcom could've fit in with any of the major 90s jrpg developers. Been a major fan since and my fav rpg developer. Happy to see them continue to build the fanbase
Long time fan since discovering an article on Trails in the Sky back in the PSP days. Bought it, played through it and haven't looked back since. Really is my favorite JRPG series out, it can seem a little outdated and tropy to many especially dating back to the older archs, but like Kondo san said it's the quality, epic character and world building and love you can feel goes into this interconnected series. It's been frustrating as a fan to see the gap that it takes to make progress on releases reaching the western shores but it used to be worse. Hopefully after the remasters drop some ground can be made up and maybe Falcom will take a little breather...doubt it..well cheers!
Man...they just can't get it right huh. Not sure what focus testing or scoping amounted to but i don't think it should have been that direction, for one the art style doesn't suit it. Breath of the wild or Mario Odyssey art style would have been good for it and filled up the world with plenty of enemies items etc. The one thing imo they got right was the sense of speed transitioning that with the right look and sense of design direction would've been on the money
The shooting gets better as you purchase some of the better weapons and the bike gets better as you upgrade it. If you stick with it, the game really starts to shine, halfway through Iron Mike's mission the story starts humming. Y'all take it in and stop getting so impatient the sum of its parts is pretty awesome. There's some tense moments that arise from then on and it only gets better.
Currently juggling Far Cry 5 on the XB1X and Ni No Kuni 2 on the Pro. Expect to hang with these until God of War, maybe some short bursts games on the Switch but time is limited so we'll see..
@YummyHappyPills Lol trust me I know, I grew up laughing at such things here on the States, I'm at the point where the tropes are becoming reality 😱.
@YummyHappyPills If this was your first game l, I'm not sure what type of gray hairs your experiencing, sound fairly young to me. My first entry was was with the NES and even then some would call me a youngin by not predating back the Atari etc etc
I'll be snapping up Shadow of the Colossus Special Edition. I actually put this off to the point the PS4 release will be my first taste even though I own the remaster on PS3. My backlog is an endless pit with no let up in sight as the train will pick up speed in March <sighs>..
I've decided to pick up Owlboy on the Switch but wait until the physical release.
Been putting some time in and pretty damn good stuff, alot of the QOL updates are playing out nicely. Didn't intend to play much but I find it intriguing to accomplish the timed events the development team provided along with the regular story quests/bounties etc. Also enjoying the different weight and impact of weapons in the full release and moments when your fighting it out with one beast but have chased it into another one's territory, the standoff begins and the intensity level ramps up through the roof! The framerate at least on Pro has been solid in the full release. MHW will sit with the other geat titles of this gen.
@Fight_Teza_Fight My thoughts exactly. Just remembered the Far Cry 5 marketing rights for Sony not too long ago and with how serviceable the Far Cry series has been in the west it gives me enough of a notion that GoW will find it's way into April. Also believe Cory would like to have the game polished as much as time will allow.
I have a good feeling about this game, thinking it will turn out pretty good. Bend will want to put a good foot forward just as Guerilla Games did.
Besides folks think a voice actor saying hours of cinematics is a 1 for 1 translation. There's alot of content recorded but doesn't necessarily mean it will all be included in the final product. Also to boot it's been said by the studio and Shu himself this will be a big game. Those who want to play up the cinematic talk will continue to do so and those who have interest will sit back as information is unveiled throughout the year.
I hope Wolfenstein II has long legs. Brilliant game even more so than it's predecessor, doesn't overstay it's welcome which is good for those of us without endless time on our hands, excellent writing and premise, and a good example of a single player game well executed; FPS or not the game is great. I picked up all 3, but no way I was going to leave out W-II which in my opinion should have precedence over ACO. I'm not sure why it was launched same day as the other heavy hitters, but I assume that wasn't known months ago when the date was decided. I wish somehow it could've been shifted (at least 1 week earlier would've helped). Think they could've marketed a bit better too, only seen the tv ad once here in the US.
Dragon's Dogma
Layton's Mystery Journey: Katrielle and the Millionaires' Conspiracy
Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga + Bowser's Minions
Middle Earth: Shadow of War Gold Edition
Etrian Oddysey V
Axiom Verge Multiverse Edition
South Park 2: The Fractured But Whole
Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus
Fire Emblem Warriors
Velocity 2x Critical Mass Edition
Assassins Creed Origins Deluxe Edition
Super Mario Odyssey
I'm just going to comment on Bethesda's nonsense. $60 for a two year old game, I guess their continuing with their profit first policies. Even The Witcher 3 and Dark Souls 3 Complete Editions were $39.99, this should sit on shelves until it hits $25 at minimum....
Will jump back in FF12 for a bit and alternate with Life is Strange and Wolfenstein TNO. Might pop into a couple of the Splatfest matches at some point as well.
I suppose when I get home from visiting the in-laws I'll hop back into FF12 and Wolfenstein TNO..
I do have the Vita with me with plenty to play with the Week 1 PSN sale but no real desire to fire it up right now.
The Switch is on ice, maybe I'll play a little Splatoon 2. The rest of the systems are on ice as well.

Pillars of Eternity
I would like to get Shadow Tactics and Patapon as well but that will probably be down the road. Also went with Undertale but the physical release won't be until October.
I think an understanding needs to be they have been using major event formats like E3 etc to highlight their first party offerings that have been baking for a while as those events are geared towards those formats but places like PAX, Gamescom, and PSX will continue to showcase Indies, and as I mentioned before they have their southeast Asia developer initiative that is still ongoing that will support games like Lost Souls Aside etc..
I think we've gotten too greedy. We fail to realize there are a couple big events around the calendar year. Without having a look at their gaming roadmap who knows the plans they have. They could very easily want to save some Japanese game related announcements for TGS or a couple of new reveals for PSX i.e. TLOU2 last year. There's no mandate saying one has to shoot their load in one sitting. I also don't see it as much of a problem to start focusing on games closer to release as they stated they would back off from announcing to far in advance perhaps this is what we're seeing now especially with several of those games still on the horizon (no pun intended).
Throw a new IP or two at me, with a few 3rd party PS made games i.e. FromSoftware's game etc. Give me release dates for all previously announced games next. I would also find a Sony Japan AAA jrpg reveal in the works to be delicious news....last and selfishly I would like Puppeteer 2 to be in the oven baking, but I know that's quite a reach..
I do agree with you in that aspect if you're looking to get your game off the ground initially or period but those are entry risks you deal with just as you would in many professions or starting your own business etc. And yeah KickStarter is an iffy proposition somewhat at least in the contributors eyes now as the few bad experiences highlight the taste or negative chatter for most it seems. The thing is though and I could be wrong but I think you still have to show the Publisher something or have proof of concept to gain their support. What I think we have now it seems is a lot more independent publishers to fill that role in place of Sony, just as we have a lot more indie developers now looking to create. In the past it seems you didn't have individuals leave major companies and start their own publishing companies as they do now. Plus with the digital realm and internet exposure/marketing it's a different industry than the old days. It seems perhaps Sony doesn't need to be front in center in that role as much anymore
I'm going to take a stab from a different angle. Perhaps it's not as beneficial of a situation for indies to held exclusive by a major publisher i.e. Sony, MS, Nintendo. Indies are those ground level guys looking to release a project from a creative sense or from a fan or passion standpoint. As we know indies aren't major anticipated sellers as they debut to the world yet we enjoy them and they offer up something refreshing to cleanse your pallet from AAAs and the usual fare. In order to get the best outcome indies should have as much an opportunity to be multiplatform as they can. As long as they release on PS it's all good, but when you're at entry level you need sales and exposure to continue making the projects you see fit. With the indie market growing we have more and more publishers that are interested in backing good indie releases. I don't see that as a negative for Sony, they're always going to be a Japanese company and want to enjoy a mix of diversity in their portfolio, but from a business standpoint I assume they don't see the need to spend a high level of attention and costs for unknown return on investment, but I also believe they won't abandon them altogether. Let us not forgot the backing and funding of Asian independent developers/indies announced at PSX and Tokyo Game Show like Lost Souls Aside etc....Have we totally dismissed that??? That's solid evidence that Sony hasn't thrown in the towel yet for the little guys.
PS4 - What Remains of Edith Finch PS3 - Mass Effect NSW - Zelda Breath of the Wild
There's so much I want to get to and so little time as usual and I continue to mount my backlog with the new releases. Need to also put some time into some house cleaning before I drop some time in on playoff basketball and shows tomorrow.
PS3 - Mass Effect Trilogy
PS4 - Ghost Recon (co-op), Kingdom Hearts Remix, The Silver Case, The Last of Us
XB1 - Red Dead Redemption
NSW - Zelda BotW
PSV - P4G
Wii U - Mario 3D World
3DS - Yoshi and Poochy Wooly World
What little bit of time I do play, outside of hitting the movies with friends or watching playoff basketball will be on the Playstation or Switch.
What a gem of a series Nihon Falcom created. The world building, the NPCs, the lore of it all is quite impressive. I started back with Trails in the Sky on my PSP and now I wholeheartedly support their RPG releases. Will be supporting Tokyo Xanadu EX+ and Ys VIII but boy I can't wait for the Western release of Cold Steel III, just gives me old school RPG vibes. Wish more gamers would jump into the series, it can be a little trope-ish and typical in some aspects but from a developer of their size they deserve to be commended.
IMO, it's a matter of personal taste. Zelda is more of the hardcore cult title. Oot I played it 98 when it first released and while I felt the combat mechanics were full speed ahead for their time, the overall package of Zelda throughout the years just hasn't blown me away. I'm not a completionist or whole heartedly enjoy clearing dungeon after dungeon without a dense meaty story to drive and maintain my interest. That is primarily why I don't see Zelda as the all time great franchise. However I won't criticize someone else if they see it that way that's why I stated I think it's a personal taste or preference. I do wish both companies success as I own the hardware of both and I think it's only for better if we have different software pieces on display. I wish however the toxicity would die down some it's that atmosphere of pitting title vs title company vs company that drags down the fun and sunny results of experiencing a great gaming age. In fact I scratch my head what the sense behind it is how does it prove bragging rights gamers aren't paid by the companies, receive stock or have any true investment in them other than buying their products which is their intent as a business corporation. Smh...
PS Vita - Finishing up Trails of Cold Steel 2 finally. It's been alot easier to push forward while on a work trip. Will probably play a little Shantae Half Genie Heroe as well.
I do have it preordered, not something I jump on lightly. It is refreshing to want to support a new IP that is ambitious and executes it's ideas quite well. Games like these are important in the industry and is a gauge for a lot of developers to greenlight creating new IPs and pursuing fresh ideas and experiences or scaling back and pumping out remixes of more of the same. I don't think people should sleep on this just because Mass Effect and Zelda is releasing nearby. In my opinion this will be every bit of quality expected of a day one purchase if your situation allows it and should, by most accounts be a title belonging in your current gen library. I wouldn't be surprised if it reviews better and is seen as a higher quality experience than Mass Effect. I'll be getting all 3 i.e. Horizon, Zelda and Mass Effect but I wouldn't skip it because of the others, in fact because it's a new IP I'm in a sense most excited for that.
Hard to predict crunched in the date range of the Zelda and Nier/Mass Effect releases. Sony has marketed Horizon well and it's pretty consistently anticipated within gaming circles. How this translates to the public will be interesting question. I'll go: 2.5 mil the first month Mid 2017: 3.5 mil Through the end of 2017 (especially if bundled with Pro and regular and Pro PS consoles at some point) 4.5 mil
I hope it doubles my predictions especially first month.
I'm idle this weekend, prepping for a work trip. Not sure if the 3DS or Vita will come with me, probably the Vita though. Want to finish the last bit of Trails of Cold Steel 2. I was considering a playthrough of Inside on PS4 but I believe I'll stay idle until I return to pick up my Horizon copy
A rising star female protagonist should have no problem gaining traction and winning people over if she's born from a solid game and surrounding world. Of course there will be the minorities who will dismiss her because she's female, but a good game and protagonist are what they are and it's hard to throw too much hate when the quality speaks for itself. In my opinion Horizon to include Aloy will turn out just fine.
@BAMozzy You have to remember this isn't a full on remake like Ratchet & Clank was, redoing the assets from scratch etc. this is more a high fidelity remaster. They went a bit further than just up the resolution and textures and at least in my opinion I feel it's great value bundling the 3 games and most definitely distinguishable from the OG PS versions.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 164
@KratosMD
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 157
PS4 - Currently alternating between co-op and single player with Ghost Recon. Must say I'm enjoying what I've played so far.
Vita - Finishing up Trails of Cold Steel 2
Re: PlayStation Congratulates Nintendo on Zelda Success
Smh...
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 157
PS Vita - Finishing up Trails of Cold Steel 2 finally. It's been alot easier to push forward while on a work trip. Will probably play a little Shantae Half Genie Heroe as well.
PS4 - On ice until I pop in Horizon next week.
Re: Poll: Are You Buying Horizon: Zero Dawn?
Re: Analyst Believes Horizon: Zero Dawn Could Sell Eight Million Copies
Hard to predict crunched in the date range of the Zelda and Nier/Mass Effect releases. Sony has marketed Horizon well and it's pretty consistently anticipated within gaming circles. How this translates to the public will be interesting question. I'll go: 2.5 mil the first month
Mid 2017: 3.5 mil
Through the end of 2017 (especially if bundled with Pro and regular and Pro PS consoles at some point)
4.5 mil
I hope it doubles my predictions especially first month.
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 156
Re: Sony: Horizon's Aloy Is a PlayStation Icon of the Future
A rising star female protagonist should have no problem gaining traction and winning people over if she's born from a solid game and surrounding world. Of course there will be the minorities who will dismiss her because she's female, but a good game and protagonist are what they are and it's hard to throw too much hate when the quality speaks for itself. In my opinion Horizon to include Aloy will turn out just fine.
Re: Crash Bandicoot PS4 Strikes Back with Four New Screenshots
@BAMozzy You have to remember this isn't a full on remake like Ratchet & Clank was, redoing the assets from scratch etc. this is more a high fidelity remaster. They went a bit further than just up the resolution and textures and at least in my opinion I feel it's great value bundling the 3 games and most definitely distinguishable from the OG PS versions.
