Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice PS4 PlayStation 4 1

Ah, summer. It’s typically about this time that we’d been clearing out our backlogs, but the PlayStation 4 has amassed a software selection that makes such endeavours futile. The coming weeks threaten to be jam-packed with noteworthy new releases, and we’re already hard at work on a handful of them. Here’s what we’re playing this weekend.

I’m playing a couple of games this weekend, which are polar opposites in terms of tone. I can’t say much about Hellblade just yet (check back next week), but I’m genuinely enjoying Tales from the Borderlands, which has managed to transform a series I often find irritating into something I find genuinely comical.

This weekend, I’ll be hiding in numerous bushes waiting for the perfect moment to strike. No, I’ve not started stalking the Push Square editors again, but instead I’ll be playing Shadow Tactics: Blades of the Shogun. This modern take on the real time stealth games of the late 90’s – popularised by the Commandos series – has hooked me, and I’ll be happily spending my spare time slicing and dicing from the shadows, while lost in a thick cloud of nostalgia.

After all the recent talk of various PSone games being remastered I've decided to have a bit of a retro weekend. I'm currently playing through Guardian's Crusade, which is a fun little RPG classic in which you play as a young knight who finds an adorable pink baby monster and sets out to return it to it's mother. Of course it doesn't take long to get wrapped up in a much bigger adventure. I'm also planning to indulge in some Spyro related adventures a little later.

What games are keeping you busy this weekend, then? Have you picked up anything new, or are you working your way through your backlog? Normal service resumes in the comments section below.
