Sony maintained its position atop the United States hardware charts with another impressive NPD result, outselling all other consoles in the month of March 2018. The console was buoyed by the release of MLB The Show 18, which set a franchise record during its launch month. However, Far Cry 5 unsurprisingly swept aside all competition, instantly becoming the fastest selling game of the year so far.
Despite all of this positivity, overall industry spend was down 11 per cent year-over-year, with hardware taking the biggest hit. However, it’s worth remembering that the Nintendo Switch launched in March 2017, which skews the numbers somewhat. We’ve included all of the relevant data below. Next month should be another cracker for the PlayStation 4, with God of War poised to do very well for itself indeed.

Be interesting to see where God of War ends up on that best sellers list.
Wow a 1st party Xbox exclusive in the top 5 and it wasn’t a good game and ni no kuni 2 a top 10 that’s good it was a grea game
PS4 outsold all other consoles but the best selling single SKU was the Neon Blue/Red Switch, which sold better than any other individual SKU. But as a family, having multiple SKUs helped PS4 to the top spot.
And Sea of Thieves did really well despite...Game Pass....existing and being a far better deal. Oh, and well done Ni No Kuni. Very respectable spot for you.
Also, lol @get2sammyb, Mario Kart 8 so high? Don't you mean Deluxe? I doubt the Wii U release is selling though weirder things have happened....much weirder, like BLOPS charting.
PS4 is doing great, like always.
That's great news about MLB and I'm a bit surprised that Sea of Thieves charted so well, but good for Rare, now hopefully MS will let it try something more along the lines of a traditional Banjo-Kazooie or Conker. Nice sales for Kirby as well despite not getting the best critical reception. And as I always say, for as much as people whine and complain about Ubisoft, that company sure knows how to sell games.
sure it did - it has the best game line up hands down right now. All about the games.
The only thing more perplexing to me than Far Cry 5’s success is GTAV.
How much is the PS4 going for NA? Is it still $299 RRP?
Sony is enjoying a good run of form. Think they'll take the next couple months, before the Switch takes the crown during the Summer lull.
Also:
1) Far Cry 5 (Multiplat)
2) Sea of Thieves (XBO/PC)
3) MLB 18 The Show (PS4)
4) Kirby Star Allies* (NS)
Good month for the big 3.
MLB looks really good & I would like to try it, but I don't like baseball.
@Fight_Teza_Fight You could last years MLB17 - it's only £15.99 on the store. I've been toying with the idea myself. Will probably get it at some point even though I'm not a baseball fan.
@Fight_Teza_Fight Yeah it’s crazy really. They still have some big price drops up their sleeve.
@Morenoj1220 not really Xbox Exclusive, more like Microsoft Exclusive sounds better.
But still for SoT’s to be on the list is impressive. I’m more looking forward to see the impact GoW has made.
@YummyHappyPills More SKU's would hurt the figures for less SKU's not the other way around.
