Re: Play The Last of Us 2 for Yourself at PAX East Later This Month

Ron22

Still not sure how hyped I feel about this one. I know it will be amazing because...well, obviously. But I do not have the energy to be hype because this game was announced waaaaay too early. (Yes, I'm still bitter about that). As far as PAX East is concerned, I may or may not be able to play it. Last year, even with the convenience of the app, getting in to play Control was next to impossible. How is THIS going to play out??

As depressing as it sounds, whenever someone says The Last of Us Part II, I just want it to come out already. Not because I'm hyped to play it (even though I really am deep down), but because I'm sick of its indefinite teasing.

Re: Poll: Do You Still Want Ghost of Tsushima to Release on PS4?

Ron22

I'm not sure.

On one hand, a PS5 version would clearly be better than a PS4 version.
On the other hand, a PS4 version would has a gargantuan install base when compared to the PS5's.

As a frugal person, I am biased towards a PS4 version.

Furthermore, I remember hearing that God of War 2 was slated for the PS3, but ultimately ended up being a generation ender for the PS2. That ended up being a big part of its success (though, the PS3's ridiculous asking price at the time may have helped too).

Re: The Last of Us 2 Multiplayer Ditched, Naughty Dog Confirms

Ron22

This news makes me unreasonably happy. All the resources going into the campaign will help push this game over the top.

Also, this is really in line with the Sony "brand" or "genre" or whatever word you want to use.

Marvel's Spider-Man
God of War
Horizon: Zero Dawn
Detroit: Become Human (Not exclusive anymore, but was made for Sony)
Days Gone

Sony is juggernaut of this generation because of Single Player. Why stop the train now?

Re: Control - Was Remedy's Return to PlayStation Worth the Wait?

Ron22

I had a bad feeling about the frame rate since I played a preview build way back in March. The fact that they couldn't (or wouldn't) fix the performance issues, even though they've been present pretty much from Square One is a head scratcher. I'll pick this up in the (hopefully near) future when — or if — they patch these issues out.

Re: Control's Launch Trailer Is Explosive, Mysterious, and Stylish

Ron22

I played an early build back in March. The gameplay was amazing, but the graphics were super rough with lots of fade in and the station next to me crashed. I was like "The game isn't due out for some time. I'm not worried". But then, I heard that the performance didn't improve too much at E3 and I was like "Some time isn't that much time anymore, Remedy".

I'm hyped for this one, but I really hope they know that textureless graphics that fade in ten seconds later before a crash isn't a feature.

Re: Yes, Killstreaks Are Back in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare

Ron22

I'm confused. They got rid of killstreaks so people could focus on the game mode (e.g. People in Capture the Flag would actually capture/protect the flag instead of just going for kills). How is this not a major step back?
I never agreed with the "Rich get Richer" structure of killstreaks anyway (giving support and assistance to players that just explicitly proved that they don't need it).

Re: No More Devil May Cry 5 DLC as Development Has Finished, Capcom Reiterates

Ron22

Reactions are mixed about this?

I'm still trying to figure out why when a game has DLC, people complain about being nickeled and dimed, but when a game doesn't have DLC, people are sad.

It's not always that cut and dry (the comments above are proof), but it feels there's always going to be someone unsatisfied no matter what happens.

Re: PS5 Will Use a Specialised Solid-State Drive to Dramatically Reduce Load Times and Improve Performance in Games

Ron22

The PS5 can fast travel Spider-Man in 0.8 seconds, ...but that's a PS4 game. Won't devs push the PS5 to the limit in terms of graphics, details, and objects on screen, thereby requiring more data and resources, thereby cranking the fast travel time (e.g) back up to a "normal" amount of time? Or am I being too simplistic? Don't get me wrong, I'm excited, I just don't get it.

Re: American Rapper LOGIC Is Apparently Going to Be in The Last of Us: Part 2

Ron22

@Mergatro1d
@AhmadSumadi
That album is a special case. Logic is a rapper, but for that particular album, he tries his hand at Rock and Alternative. Not saying that's an excuse to be "bad", just saying judging who he is as a musical talent based on that would be misleading, to say the least. It would be like saying Michael Jordan is a terrible athlete because of his Baseball career.

Re: The Last of Us: Part II Will Not Appear at The Game Awards 2018

Ron22

If you need to celebrate the 2 year anniversary of a reveal of a game that doesn't even have a release window, you announced too early. To be fair, Sony said (and is currently demonstrating) that they wouldn't make that mistake again, but, man, oh man, this is nothing short of atrocious.

Re: Hands On: Marvel's Spider-Man on PS4 Is Shaping Up to Be the Best Spider-Man Game Ever

Ron22

@get2sammyb
I only skimmed through the preview because I am, indeed, that afraid of spoilers, so forgive me if this was answered, but...
Is the radio tower thing annoying? With the exception of H:ZD, I find it to be tedious. Also, it seems non-sensical. Peter Parker was born and raised in New York, and this Spider-Man has been swinging for eight years, so what doesn't he know about Manhattan at this point?

Re: Poll: What Do You Think of Photo Mode?

Ron22

It's fine, but it's not for me. The time it takes to stage the perfect shot is ludicrous.
Oddly enough, I did love editing perfect replays in Fight Night Champion. I guess because that is reliving my favorite moments whereas Photo Mode is trying to artificially create them from nothing.

Re: E3 2018: The Last of Us: Part II Is Seriously Levelling Up

Ron22

This game looks incredible, no doubt about it, but they didn't even flash a year at the end of the demo, which means this game could be 2020. I can't be too incensed because they seem to have learned their lesson, but yeeesh, they jumped the gun on the announcement.
