Sony didn’t date God of War or Detroit: Become Human until they were weeks away from release, so it looks like it’s going to follow a similar philosophy for its other big PlayStation 4 exclusives. And speaking as part of an E3 2018 panel, Naughty Dog has hinted that we won’t get a release date for The Last of Us: Part II until it’s “very close to release”. Presumably that’s not the case at the time of typing.
It’s a bit frustrating not knowing the general timeframe that the developer’s targeting, but we’re sure a clearer picture will emerge in due time. The good news is that it sounds like it’s on the right track with the anticipated sequel, as these brand new gameplay details reveal.

i'm guessing somehere around may 2019 at the earliest and november 2019 at the latest.
@jdv95 I'd guess later if I were you.
Out tomorrow
May 2020 is my guess now.
@get2sammyb
eh i don't know. i can't see it being a 2020 title. maybe not in may but i feel that november/december 2019 is possible.
2020? No way, this is coming out in 2019.
Hey @get2sammyb, wanna put a bet on when it comes out
@eltomo Nope!
I can't wait! I like them waiting to announce release dates until it's ready to be released. No delays. No NMS nightmares. I bet it's closer than they are saying though. That gameplay was really polished.
Just don't date it at all and then release with no warning when it's ready. Wouldn't that generate some press.
@kyleforrester87 The way games get pushed back due to release scheduling/etc. these days I wouldn’t count on a 2019 release, but hopefully. 🤷🏻♂️
At least they found a way to shut people up about the 'gratuitous' violence... just stick a big ol' lesbian kiss in there!
Did GoW and Detroit really only get dated weeks before release? I find that hard to believe. I feel like we knew months in advance, if not the date at least the year.
I found the lack of dates at Sonys presser annoying. Not b/c TLOU2 didn't get dsted. And not b/c Ghosts didn't get dsted, and not b/c Death Stranding didn't get dated, but b/c they built their presser around 4 games, 1 already has a date a few months out, and the other 3 didn't get dated. So 100% of their games that didn't gave dates still don't. Not even years. They couldn't even say "2019" for any of the 3 of them. Give us something.
What's the general feeling of when Death Stranding and Ghost are gonna release?
It has to be strategically separated from Days Gone, which is Feb 2019. So expect it late 2019, early 2020. 😔
@rjeir God of War got dated in February and Detroit got dated in march I believe.
May 19 more like June 19 which will put it 6 years after the first game. Im only spitballing here but it would make sense as Ellie now looks 6 years older than in the first game and she was approx 14 so now she looks like 20 years old dunno if im right though
Time moves ever so fast at my old age so I'll be playing this real soon.
Thinking a summer 2020 release. Late May or early June.
Hopefully, Summer of 2019, since the first game came out in the middle of the summer, but 2020 wouldn't surprise me.
I understand that games are always being developed with new technology and delays can come out of nowhere, but if companies honestly can't even estimate a release year for a game...keep it under wraps.
ok I am going for june 14 2019 if im not mistaken that a friday and fits the 6 years after idea I think they are going for if so its the day before my birthday so I am all for it
ghost will come out mid 2019,TLOU around november 2019 and death stranding most likely in 2020. they could all get a "remaster" on the ps5 but i think that death stranding will be a cross gen title releasing both on ps4 and ps5 at the same time.
I don't mind this stratagy but why didnt they keep to it for Days Gone? Its now on the same day as Anthem and Metro Exodus. Hopefully this will be in a less crowded month (or day)
@rjejr I feel the pain man! They could at least give us a year for any of those three, but no, let's show them and then leave you wondering when you'll play it... For example, Microsoft didn't give a date for gears 5, but we at least know which year it should be released. And we are talking about a game which was showed for the first time ever.
It will launch in fall 2019 or 2020 I think, maybe like zelda botw, it will release both on ps4 and ps5.
It will be the swan song (is that expression correct?) of PS4.
I still believe it will come in 2019, but who knows.
2019, bet money
@NecuVise Companies should put out timelines for their games like chip companies put out timelines for their new CPU and GPU. Well at least Intel, Nvidia and AMD used to do that, I havent' followed them in awhile.
Nintendo usually puts one out every year. Half of it is usually wrong but at least they try. Here's the one from last year they actually got mostly right.

NoA tweeted it out last year at E3, it isn't fan fiction.

If they put one out this year that 3DS bottom is going to be kinda empty.
Without doubt my most anticipated game.
Announce it late, so they have to postpone the release only once, instead of 2 - 3 times? Can't wait! Need more TLOU.
That's for the best, hate it when companies announce release dates too early and then we get alot of delays, or they rush the game's development resulting in a buggy mess.
