Don't expect anything more from Devil May Cry 5, as Capcom producer Matt Walker has reiterated that development on the game has ended. We've known this would be the case since before the Bloody Palace launched as a free update earlier this month, but we still think it's a bit of a shame, and perhaps a missed opportunity.
The confirmation follows on from various rumours, the most prominent being that Trish and Lady would be made playable in their own expansion. Again, it's unfortunate, but it ain't happening unless the bigwigs at Capcom change their mind.
Don't get us wrong, Devil May Cry 5 is an excellent game, but we would have loved to see it expand with more modes or additional scenarios -- and we doubt that we're alone in thinking that.

Make Dragon's Dogma 2. NOW!!!
I'm okay with this, still haven't completed the game and looking to continue playing once the story is over to improve some of my ranks and find the hidden stuff.
dragon dogma 2 is next capcom.make it happen dog.word up son
Its because full development has shifted over on to Deep Down for the PS5 launch, naturally
I will only accept this IF the director has moved onto Dragon's Dogma 2. Otherwise I shall shake my fist at thee, Capcom.
I like this. Leave the game as a complete package, no adding extra (usually dull) chapters just for the sake of money. I think its a perfect game as is, no need for dlc. Just bring us DMC6 on the PS6 in a few years.
This is Capcom's way of saying Special Edition confirmed.
@Shigurui That's what I thought!
@ShogunRok @Shigurui - Doesn't this announcement confirm that there won't be a Special Edition though? (That's what it sounded like to me)
@FullMetalWesker - Rather than add DLC they wait and put extra stuff in a SE, Vergil was added as playable in 3 SE before DLC was possible and in 4 SE along with Trish and Lady. Can see that happening with 5.
@Shigurui @FullMetalWesker Yeah I wouldn't be surprised in the least to see DMC5 eventually get a special edition down the line — probably on PS5 at this point.
@ShogunRok It'd also allow them to add in stuff like the Turbo and Legendary Dark Knight modes, since the PS4 probably isn't capable of maintaining 60fps with those enabled.
@Shigurui Yeah, I can see a special edition down the line on PS5 happening. I was hoping I wouldn't have to wait long for more content though.
Ah well. The game itself is great as it is, no use for me getting upset.
Good. Just like God of War it's a complete product and doesn't need more DLC. Save the ideas for DMC VI.
Reactions are mixed about this?
I'm still trying to figure out why when a game has DLC, people complain about being nickeled and dimed, but when a game doesn't have DLC, people are sad.
It's not always that cut and dry (the comments above are proof), but it feels there's always going to be someone unsatisfied no matter what happens.
@Gamer83 I couldn't agree more. But there's only a handful of us in this boat.
@Ron22 - The 'nickel and dime' complaints are usually criticisms of games that ship incomplete, with the missing content released later at a cost. Here though, the game is a complete product, but there are some (myself included) who would've liked some more additional content (mostly characters) to be released.
In other words, the general stance on DLC is, as far as I can figure out, that it's fine as long as it's either free or additional content to an already complete game, but not if it's part of the main game cut out and sold separately.
