Re: Capcom's Crappy Microtransactions Are Back in Monster Hunter Wilds, Including Paid Character Edits

Pixipantalon

Well, there's FAR worse going on in the world than having the option to pay for a character edit voucher pack, which you can pick up during some event quests etc anyway. People just don't read the small print.

And, like the option to pay 99c or whatever for an extra Wakestone or two in Dragon's Dogma, they only exist as an easy access item for the impatient since you can get them in-game anyway. When you have other companies out there shilling character skins for $20 or shoes for $10 and release broken, incomplete games, I find it hard to sh*t on Capcom when MH has always been a polished, complete game that delivers big on content... ^_^

Re: Talking Point: Is PS5 Pro Way Too Expensive?

Pixipantalon

For me, the worst part is that it's ยฃ700 in the UK while also being $700 in the US!!

This means that living in the UK is going to cost us ยฃ165 more for the console than living in the US because $700 is ยฃ535 at current exchange rates. Where the f**k is the fairness in that?? F**king Rip Off Britain strikes again. If the prices were equivalent (say $700 and ยฃ550) I'd feel much better about buying one... ๐Ÿ˜‘

Re: Dragon's Dogma 2 DLC Hopes Reignited By Suspicious Steam Updates

Pixipantalon

JUST GIVE ME MORE DOGMA!!!!

I waited 12 years for DD2, with an awesome DD Online interlude until the servers shut down, so I've got space in my life for as much Dragon's Dogma as the universe allows haha!! I was always hopeful for a DD2 DLC/Expansion... the bigger the better!

If Capcom has a TGS announcement for something along the lines of BBI, but with a full story expansion the size of MHW Iceborne, I will be VERY happy ^_^

Re: Dragon's Dogma 2 Patch Clearly Improves PS5 Performance, But It's Still Far from Perfect

Pixipantalon

Well from my perspective, it seems that the lion's share of the complaints about performance come from the PC community, which is understandable given that anyone with a decent rig and mods is probably used to running most games at 60-120fps, so in that regard - and generally speaking I guess - optimisation for PC is something of an ongoing issue, especially when you factor in all the different GPU/CPU setups people will have.

Being a PS5 player however, I have to say that I've now got about 400 hours of playtime on Dragon's Dogma 2 and the only thing I've noticed relating to performance is the NPC pop-in and the occasional frame drop when in mid-battle and you knock down a big monster (like a Cyclops for example) and it kinda falls down in slo-mo for a couple of seconds. Ma Ma would be proud haha! ๐Ÿ˜‹

Other than that, the game has been running fine for me and graphically it looks awesome... I'll often stop just to admire the scenery or my Arisen's cake as she jogs through the woodland. I don't think I've ever noticed any frame drop in Vernworth either, come to think of it!

Hopefully they'll keep improving things in any case, and we may well see another big performance boost with some BBI type DLC down the line. Digital Foundry made a video about how there's even Path Tracing built in to the game engine so maybe we'll see that too, although that might be PS5 Pro specific on consoles.

Either way, DD2 is amazing and by far the best "Adventure Sim" around in my humble opinion. Can't wait for the DLC!! ๐Ÿ˜š๐Ÿ‘Œ

Re: Capcom Now Considers Dragon's Dogma a 'Key Brand' Following Substantial Sales

Pixipantalon

DD2 having a good sales run is exactly what I'd been hoping for, because it deserves its acclaim and hopefully it'll translate into some Bitterblack Isle style DLC and another sequel... maybe even another Dragon's Dogma Online if we're super lucky??? ๐Ÿคž๐Ÿคž๐Ÿคž

The thing that a lot of people don't realize is that "DD2" is really just the original DD as Hideaki Itsuno wanted it to be 12 years ago, without the hardware and budget restrictions of the era, and you're effectively playing Dragon's Dogma until the very end of the game when it cleverly becomes DD2. It was a risk for Capcom to put a ton of money into a brand new IP and so what we got in DD was a very tapered back version of what was originally desired by the dev team.
This time round, they were able to put a whole lot more into it, although I don't believe that even now the budget was really full-fat AAA tier relative to what a MHW or RE budget would be. Given that it has sold so well so far thanks to all the dedicated fans and new players (๐Ÿซก๐Ÿ™) hopefully it will continue to sell well and we see a bigger, bolder DD3 sometime down the line. Just don't let it sit for 12 years please, Capcom!!! ๐Ÿซต๐Ÿคจ

Re: Stellar Blade PS5 Dev Thanks Fans for 'Passion' Following Censorship Controversy

Pixipantalon

Well I can safely say that the Holiday Rabbit suit has definitely been censored as I bought both the digital and disc release for <ahem> posterity, but the Moutan Peony outfit has the tights on it by default, so you have to imagine that the disc version of the game DOES contain the originally intended versions of the outfits, otherwise why would they be on the unpatched disc release?

I call censorship after the fact, which of course sucks because it's just a bit of extra skin on a character model as opposed to anything egregiously inappropriate or sinister in an 18 rated game... ๐Ÿคจ

Re: Talking Point: What's Your Favourite PS5 Game of 2024 So Far?

Pixipantalon

Hot take!! ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ‘Œ

Helldivers 2 is boring, bleak and repetitive and the gameplay loop isn't really that far removed from Suicide Squad yet it gets none of the hate...

Dragon's Dogma 2 is THE BEST GAME and the micro-transaction/frame-rate drop hate is just reductive clown college dropout material ๐Ÿซต๐Ÿคจ

Re: Helldivers 2 Servers Finally Stabilising, Team Now Resuming 'Original Plan'

Pixipantalon

I got it the other day as a bit of an impulse buy for some co-op action in the lead up to Dragon's Dogma 2 next month... I like some of the game mechanics but my concern is that if the game's core concept is just to drop you into bleak landscapes and complete samey objectives while fighting off the hordes over and over again, it's not my hold my attention for very long ๐Ÿ˜

I've already noticed that levelling up your ship and Stratagem arsenal is a slooow process due to the small amount of samples and credits you earn per mission, and the overall presentation seems a bit limited in terms of what you can actually do within the game, whether it's on your ship or on the ground... the Battle Pass and the armor sets aren't super exciting to look at either, so while the co-op gameplay is both tense and fun, the budget price of the game seems to reflect the overall depth of the content...

Re: Poll: Are You Playing Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League?

Pixipantalon

@ErrantRob Hey Rob... well I really enjoyed Gotham Knights too, and The Division, which I also still play from time to time and would continue to do so if there was some newer and more diverse content available... I really think they missed a trick with the Resident Evil crossover event as the gameplay would have been amazing if Washington had been overrun with zombies haha! Interesting that The Division is infinitely more bullet-spongey than Suicide Squad and has similar open world gameplay with patrolling enemies AND a decent overarching story, but has generally been well received. What would the reaction to The Division 2 have been if it had previously been a Last of Us style single-player narrative driven game I wonder ๐Ÿ˜„

Anyway in answer to your question, I think you'll most likely enjoy Suicide Squad and I DEFINITELY think the best way to approach it is indeed to ignore all the negative press (as I did) and form your own opinion about the game... given you really enjoyed Gotham Knights and The Division, I'd say it's a pretty safe bet you'll have fun with SS ๐Ÿซถ

Re: Poll: Are You Playing Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League?

Pixipantalon

Hum... the naysayers are out in force ***** on the game before they've even played it ๐Ÿ™„

Well, at 41 hours of play time I'm still having a blast and I HAVEN'T finished the campaign yet, so all this talk of it only being 7 hours long is nonsense.
Suicide Squad is actually a very polished game that looks gorgeous on PS5... character models, cutscenes and voice acting are all top notch and the co-op has been seamless and bug free. Yup, it's a shooter but it's also a really good Arkhamverse story that has many of the classic Rocksteady lore nods and easter eggs along with a great performance by the late Kevin Conroy.
If you're an Arkham purist who JUST wants a Batman game then this probably ain't for you, but if you liked The Division, Outriders or Zombie Army and even the original Crackdown, then you'll have a lot of fun playing this.
Suicide Squad has a lot of serious storyline going on with some real WTF/emotional moments, but it also doesn't take itself too seriously and the members of the squad are all on point when it comes to their humor and banter... at times it reminded me of the good Saints Row games (i.e. SR2 and SR3) and that ain't a bad thing at all lol.
Anyway it's disappointing that people have jumped on the hate bandwagon just because it's not an actual Batman game and it's "Live Service", but that's the culture we exist with today. Suicide Squad however does not ram the "Live Service" down your throat at all, there's no FOMO trap at work and it does not oblige you to buy anything from the cosmetic store or pay to win. It's a co-op game after all so you're not trying to one-up your friends with your KD ratio.
At the end of the day video games are supposed to be fun, and that's exactly what Suicide Squad is... ๐Ÿซถ

Re: Suicide Squad Teases Major Post-Launch Support, 'Hundreds' of Build Combinations

Pixipantalon

So much hate... too much hate IMO but I can't wait to get stuck into Suicide Squad and kick some ass with Best Girl Harley ๐Ÿ˜„

Personally I really don't see what the fuss is about... if Live Service means more content then great! I love having the option to change up the characters I'm playing with new skins etc, or get stuck into some new modes/maps or whatever... and I'm no Whale or Live Service fanboy... I just like gaming ๐Ÿ™‚

Rocksteady did a great job with the Arkham games so why not give em the benefit of the doubt with Suicide Squad? Obviously the gameplay is different and it's not a Batman game but so what? Creative Assembly went from making RTS games to knocking it out of the park with the tremendous Alien: Isolation... a completely different genre of game. So dontcha think Rocksteady can do the same?

Live service just seems to be about content delivery to me, and yes some of it will be paid for with real world money, but that doesn't obligate anyone to buy it... and it's all cosmetic from what I understand. It's not even a PvP game so Pay To Win doesn't factor in at all ๐Ÿค”

Seems to me like people are pooping on SS when there are far better things to do with your time, like playing games you're actually interested in ๐Ÿ˜„

Re: Cyberpunk 2077 Sequel's Development Is Officially Underway

Pixipantalon

There's only one thing I want above all else in the Cyberpunk sequel and that's a THIRD PERSON camera view!!!

I loved CP2077 and 2.0/Phantom Liberty really fixed things, but the whole time I was playing I was just wishing for a Third Person camera switch ๐Ÿ˜” Every time I got some new gear and/or went to change my wardrobe or appearance it just took the edge off the enjoyment because the only way I could see my V properly was in the inventory or in Photo Mode... it's obviously a matter of opinion but I don't feel as immersed in a game in First Person as I do Third Person. I think that CDPR could make a lot of people happy by having both in the sequel, like they do in GTA/Red Dead/Skyrim etc.

@KundaliniRising333 'Tis a trifling thing to know nothing... ๐Ÿคจ

"Him who knows that I know what he seeks to know, knows it well while he who knows not, knows not what I know or know not."

Now off you pop back to your hole and never speak ill of the Dogma again!! Copy and paste yourself into the naughty corner and ponder your ignorance awhile... t'will serve you well ๐Ÿคซ

Re: Kill Time in GTA Online with The Chop Shop Update on PS5, PS4

Pixipantalon

So... a new update that involves shelling out a couple of million for a property, then a couple more million to upgrade said property with a bunch of useless cosmetics, then some fetch quests to get materials and a long wait while those materials are turned into a shipment you must then deliver for less payout than the cost of a fancy GTA supercar?!?

Yup, can't wait for GTA6 online... ๐Ÿ™„

Re: Suicide Squad Returns with All-New PS5 Gameplay

Pixipantalon

Hm what happened to reserving judgement and not judging a book by its cover? ๐Ÿ˜‹๐Ÿ˜‹

Everyone seems to be sh*tting on Suicide Squad without ever having played it... the new deep dive video log from Rocksteady talks about taking a different approach from the Arkham games because of the subject matter and the multiplayer aspect, while still being story-focused and quality driven, which is what Rocksteady does. I think the problem with this is that it's Rocksteady but it's NOT an Arkham game, and when you throw in the Live Service/Shooter elements, that just makes people see red. If it were a Ubisoft game I doubt the outcry would be nearly as bad.
In any case I'm gonna give Suicide Squad the benefit of the doubt and I think I'll have a blast playing it with my friends, it looks FUN and that's what games are supposed to be ๐Ÿซก
Co-op gameplay is always my jam, it's got Best Girl Harley in it, and I enjoy shooting the crap out of stuff whether it's Red Dead, GTA, Cuberpunk, Zombie Army, Outriders, Aliens: Fireteam Elite etc etc! Rocksteady did also showcase the melee combat in their video log by the way.
In any case I have faith in the story, gameplay and potential for fun DC Easter Eggs/References, so it's a day one purchase for me... BECAUSE it's Rocksteady... and of course we get Harley's classic costume!! ๐Ÿ˜ƒ

At the end of the day It may not turn out to be the AAA "Classic Rocksteady" experience people are looking for, but like the Suicide Squad, I think it'll be a bit of an antihero game that will surprise the naysayers and gain word of mouth traction once people get hold of it... a bit like Dragon's Dogma.
Give Squad a chance!โœŒ๏ธ๐Ÿ˜‡

Re: Cyberpunk 2077's Sequel Will Be Spearheaded by the Team Behind Phantom Liberty and Update 2.0

Pixipantalon

THIRD PERSON MODE AS AN OPTION.... that's all I want as a baseline for a CP sequel. The rest I trust CDPR to deliver because the story, characters and environments in CP2077 were all amazing.

Launch woes aside, the game turned out to be pretty damn good, especially after 2.0 and Phantom Liberty, which I'm playing at the moment. But for 'saka's sake CDPR, don't ship a sequel without third person!!!!! ๐Ÿ˜ค

Re: Preview: Dragon's Dogma 2 Feels Like a Remake of the First Game, in a Good Way

Pixipantalon

Yeah, I'm not on board with the idea that it's too similar to the original Dragon's Dogma and doesn't evolve the game enough, as there's surrounding context to the nature of the sequel.
For those of you who don't know, the released version of Dragon's Dogma back in 2013 was only about 40% of what Hideaki Istuno and co originally envisioned for the game. Due to hardware and resource restrictions/limitations, it was not possible to make the game as complete as they wanted it to be, so Dragon's Dogma 2 is effectively going to be part remake and part sequel, allowing the original vision for the game to be realised while developing the story and game mechanics in a way that lines up with what the second iteration of a game should be.
If you've been with Dragon's Dogma since it originally released, the fact that a sequel exists at all is in and of itself God Tier news, and the fact that it is set to retain so much of the original game's character is absolutely perfect ๐Ÿ˜‰๐Ÿ‘Œ

Re: HoYoverse's Action RPG Zenless Zone Zero Confirmed for Consoles

Pixipantalon

Definitely interested because of the urban punk aesthetic and the ARPG gameplay, but I wasn't sold on Genshin as much as Tower of Fantasy, and then there's still Project Mugen and Blue Protocol to consider as well! Plus, Gacha games 'n' all that... I've had a blast on ToF and dropped some dollars on it, but it is kind of a cheap thrill at the end of the day and if you really want to invest in upgrading your characters to A6, it's not so cheap lmao. Depends on whether or not you choose to go whaling ๐Ÿ˜…๐Ÿ˜…

Re: CDPR Recommends a Fresh Save for the Best Cyberpunk 2077 2.0, Phantom Liberty Experience

Pixipantalon

@Nebbuless yeah the absence of third person really was a bummer for me especially after The Witcher games... and I believe the original version of CP2077 which was in development until 2016 was in fact a third person game. Apparently they switched director during the development cycle and changed everything.

In this era of games, having both third and first person options shouldn't really be a stretch considering it's been around dating back to Skyrim, and especially in games where there's character creation and extensive cosmetics/customization.

I REALLY hope CDPR feel the same way for the next Cyberpunk game. If nothing else, it would increase their player base because it caters to everyone in that regard...
