What Final Fantasy needs is a completely different art style again. All the characters look so similar now. Look at the diversity of 7, 8 and 9. It’s like we’ve been getting the same cookie cutter characters ever since FF13. Give us a colourful cel shaded style or anything that feels like a vision rather than catering to what works on the current market.
How are tribal tattoos different from what he feels a connection with?
It’s not my style either. It sure grabs the attention. But it doesn’t bother me to see someone go further in self-expression than I would.
People like this are important, because they challenge us to question the things we take for granted and the absurdity of some societal norms. That can be a valuable lesson to some ‘normal’ people.
All these different identities have a function in making sure we grow as a species. Like teaching you not to judge people whose skin you’ve never been in.
Good for you on recognising that he might need help. Perhaps you can try to start from that thought instead of what the facade tells you about his worth.
***edit: I realise that sounded a bit preachy but I genuinely wish you can try to see people differently. Not because I think I'm better than you but because it's a destructive aspect of society that people are now so quick to draw conclusions about strangers, while they only get snippets of their +-90 year life
@Northern_munkey So society decided that facial tattoo’s are a big no no. I appreciate him for not conforming to that, simply because it’s wrong for other people to decide what you can do to your body. Facial tattoos are/were common and normal in many cultures, by the way.
@Porco You don’t have to try and explain why it’s supposedly bad. I know all the arguments. None of them make sense to me. The biggest mistake was in the marketing. They should have made it clear that people were going to play as Abby and not as Joel. Too many people had wrong expectations.
@Porco Makes sense that my favourite game of all time would be a divisive one. At least it made you feel things. I’d argue it’s the strongest people have ever felt about a game. Especially the ones who hate it so passionately. The reasons people give why this is bad, are often quite hilarious. Especially because they usually demonstrate an advanced knowledge about how to craft a predictable and meaningless story.
Whatever the new project is, I hope it’s very different from TLOU and Uncharted. Something cartoony with ND’s current level of polish would be amazing. And I think we can all agree Jak & Daxter need to return.
Can anyone explain to me why FF13 got so much hate for being a long hallway, yet this game gets all the praise in the world? At least in FF13 there was some semblance of difficulty to keep me entertained. This felt very much like the Japanese Witcher rollercoaster ride for kids. So yes, glad to see them move on!
I must be the only person in the world who thinks Kratos just sounds too silly to take seriously. It makes me crack up every time he opens his mouth with that pompous voice. I get it, you're a god. Fun game, though. I didn't need a sequel.
I hate how she was hiding behind the exact same platform in the kitchen. Makes it feel like a parody. The rest looks fine, but I agree that a 3rd person perspective (or the option) would have been preferable. There's almost no dinosaur games that use it anymore.
I remember when they announced it wouldn't have any DLC and I was delighted and decided to buy the game after all. Too bad they didn't keep their promise and that the game turned out to be a boring 'tap to win' hallway.
It's ridiculous how companies are into 'accessibility' because it makes them look good, but then they make things overpriced. That's also accessibility. Like Naughty Dog adding all these features, but asking 80€ for a remaster. They should call it 'accessibility for the privileged'
For me personally it doesn’t have enough games yet. I’m really waiting for a PS5 game that can go in my all time top 10. Most of the ones I’ve been looking forward to have been disappointments so far. Sea of Stars comes close, but that’s not really ‘a PS5 game’.
I’ll only be really excited if they ever go back to a more goofy art style like IX and a turn based battle system. Why does Dragon Quest keep getting away with that while Final Fantasy keeps taking itself too seriously!

Re: The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered (PS5) - A Near Perfect Package for New and Returning Fans
They're really shooting themselves in the foot by releasing this now instead of after TLOU3 is announced.
I'm going to replay 1 and 2 some day but it can definitely wait until it costs 30€

Re: Granblue Fantasy: Relink Demo Out Now on PS5, PS4
@CWill97 Combat felt a bit similar to Ys 8 & 9, but a bit less ‘tight’. That and the Tales series seem to be the best references.
Re: Kaitlyn Dever Will Play Abby in HBO's The Last of Us Season 2
@EfYI I’m also their core user base and I’m glad Joel was killed off and Abby is my favourite character in gaming.
Re: PS Plus Essential Games for January 2024 Announced
@Member_the_game That’s really on you. Plague Tale is pretty well known.
Re: Hardcore Tetris-Like Loot River Embarks on Perilous PS5, PS4 Voyage
I’m a Tetris addict and love Hyper Light Drifter. This seems like a weird combo that could actually work
Re: Sony Wants PS5 Games to Automatically Adjust the Difficulty While You Play
It’s not a bad idea for a difficulty option but it should never be the standard.
Re: Stare Wistfully at The Last of Us Online PS5 Multiplayer Menu Screen
Not gonna lie. I wasn’t looking forward to some endlessly updated money and time consumer that I’d feel obligated to play as a fan of the franchise.

@Porco “in decline” by releasing the best game ever made which sold like hot cakes?

Re: Death Stranding Movie Partners with A24, and There's a T-Shirt
This will be a unique case where, in retrospect, the game will feel like an adaptation of the film.
Re: 'Florida Joker' Dyes Hair Purple, Raises GTA 6 Ask to $3 Million
Yeah the Home Depot comment was not necessary.
Re: Site News: Submit Your Snaps for the Push Square Community Screenshot Competition
My best screenshots are probably not suitable for publication.
Re: Is the PS5 Getting a Spider-Verse Game? Fans Think So
This version of Spider-Man is so much more exciting than the 'realistic' one. I'd definitely play that.
Re: Preview: Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown Brings Back the Series with Style
@Snick27 Lol, you wanted the Prince of Persia to be white?

Re: Exodus Story Details Have Us Anticipating Archetype's Sci-fi RPG
Those suits and robot designs look amazing. Too bad the faces don't. I would have preferred more stylised visuals instead of this half baked realism.

Fun game, though. I didn't need a sequel.

@TheCollector316 Campfires and all!
Re: Poll: What's Your Most Anticipated PS5 Game of 2024?
I wanted to vote Ys X, but that seems to be far off
Re: Persona Dev's New RPG Metaphor: ReFantazio Looks Amazing, Hits PS5, PS4 in Fall 2024
Reminds me a bit of Shin Megami Tensei V, which should have been on PS5 years ago already.

The art style is gorgeous
Re: Poll: What Is Your PS5, PS4 Game of the Year 2023?
I remember this as the year of boring disappointments, with Sea of Stars being the only one I really loved. Why people love FF16 is just beyond me.
Re: Elements from Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora Could Inform Future Avatar Films
If only this was 3rd person.
Re: The Witcher 4 Is Now CD Projekt Red's Main Focus as Work Wraps Up on Cyberpunk 2077
Can anyone who's played them tell me a good reason why The Witcher 1 & 2 aren't on PS yet?
Re: PS1 JRPG Fans May Want to Keep an Eye on Arisen Force: Vonimir for PS5, PS4
I’m almost 100% certain that it will have a long and winding intro about war between nations that end with ‘-adia’
Re: Star Kaitlyn Dever Could Be The Last of Us TV Show's Abby
I hope they go for a more androgynous Abby. The only woman I ever loved 😍

Re: Alan Wake 2 (PS5) - A Nightmare We Never Want to Wake Up From
The lack of enemy variety was probably the reason I quit part 1, so I’m not convinced

Can’t wait to fall in love with Abby again.
I don’t hate Joel as much as in the game though.

Re: Alan Wake 2 Is Still on Track for 2023 Release on PS5
Now I wish I didn’t give up on part 1. The gameplay seemed extremely repetitive after a few hours.
