@Northern_munkey fair enough munkey. I find it difficult to pull any positives from the recent string of events that has led to this point, but I will agree to disagree. Have a good day mate.
@Northern_munkey Don't you get tired of defending Bungie's (and by extension, Sony's) costliest mistake? Developing, producing, wasting millions of dollars to create the flop that is Marathon? Do you have any compassion at all for the number of people that lost their jobs because their corporate overlords wasted their talents and investment on a niche product with no hope of success.
munkey- is it so hard to admit Marathon has been a disaster that has cost a once-talented company millions of dollars, and its workers countless jobs? Maybe Bungie would be working on a game that the masses enjoy instead of Sony slashing it to pieces.
Again, enjoy playing Marathon with the dozen other people who share your interests.
@Northern_munkey Not many people actually enjoy Marathon, as evidenced by its poor sales and retention numbers. Not enough to sustain the team that made the mistake of focusing so much time and money on it, when those resources would have been much better spent elsewhere.
Glad you're enjoying Marathon though. Too bad no one will be enjoying Bungie-made games for very much longer, and so many people lost their jobs because Bungie chased the dragon and released a total flop.
Seems like everyone is worried about this setting a precedent for future game prices. IMHO this is more of a generational product, existing outside the standard practices of the video game industry. Other companies may carry on with price increases, and most will be disappointed with their sales. So much pearl-clutching and fear-mongering on this site today over this game.
A lot of anti-preorderers on here. By all means, proceed with your plans accordingly, but personally I have never told anyone what to do with their money or mock others for their purchasing habits. Have a nice day folks.
@get2sammyb but will Pushsquare continue to troll us all with non-stop articles about how new games optimized for the Pro are the golden, premiere, majestic, touched-by-God versions when compared to their bastardized, cast-off, flaming garbage counterparts for the base console?
@streetshadow still parts of the same whole. Marathon's lack of success is no doubt contributing to the devaluation of Bungie and ultimately may lead to its closure.
@Jay767 Too little, too late. While the quality of Marathon itself may be immense, it is extremely unlikely to ever sell enough to make it a success for the company. It may not be a commercial flop, but it certainly isn't going to help anyone keep their jobs at Bungie, hence the downsizing.
I'd look at Marathon if it were on PS Plus Essential but not interested in shelling out $40 for a hardcore extraction shooter with the promise of some P v E mode down the line.
@Northern_munkey Bungie's allocation of resources towards Marathon is seen by many as a major misappropriation of time and funding and also a significant contributing factor towards their massive ongoing decline.
@PercyChuggs i imagine i could not care less about your statement and will be having a blast while you nitpick what will be a critically acclaimed game
As an owner of a disc version, I like the ability to play a Blu-Ray or DVD in my bedroom in the rare instance my internet is down. I only have two games on disc (NBA 2K21 and RE:Village, mainly due to pricing at the time). The vast majority of my gaming experience is digital, but it is a nice fallback option to have when you need to consume media in a pinch and you're struggling with an internet connection. And of course the entire ownership concept is very much still in play. I just figure in ten or twenty years I won't be stressing this generation's games as much (monetarily and in terms of time-investment).

Re: Bungie's Maligned Shooter Marathon Goes Free-to-Play for a Full Week on PS5
@poetwarlord hard to change public perception. The game is a flop and was produced by a team that is now a shell of itself.
Re: Bungie's Maligned Shooter Marathon Goes Free-to-Play for a Full Week on PS5
@EfYI eh, it's free for a week. And "awesome" as it may be, still unlikely to draw much more interest or sales than it has between launch and now.
