In general it seems Japanese developers are just fascinated in particular with American aesthetics. Just look at how many of their games are clearly inspired by the show Twin Peaks for just one example; Silent Hill, Earthbound, Mizzurna Falls, hell Deadly Premonition is a Twin Peaks game in everything but name.
@Th3solution
The American Football example is hilarious because Resident Evil 7 made that same boo boo. One of the posters says "American Football". You can also find a clearly Japanese style clothes hanging mechanism in that same area. As someone who lives in the south neither of those things exist, especially not in Cajun territory.
@nessisonett That comment just made me think of those old animal documentaries they used to air on that network back in the 90s. What a blast from the past.
@Kairu If I remember correctly according to Druckman in an interview the first season will mostly cover the events of the first game but was vague on other details and usually when HBO is this hush hush about a show they have something up their sleeves.
@gomersoul How would you like it if the rest of the world refused to buy your product that you put blood, sweat and tears into and put you into financial ruin over just because the country you happen to live in has committed human rights violations that has literally nothing to do with you in any way, shape or form? It says you are in the UK according to your bio. The British government, the American government, every first world government has committed human rights violations. Does that mean you or I should be punished for something neither of us had anything to do with?
@johnny30 You do know Control has difficulty and accessibility options right? You can make your character invincible or have unlimited powers with no cooldown. Should allow you to finish the game if you need it.
@caiol92 To be fair in this day and age you can just pull up any music you want in the background for any game or even a podcast. Most games even mute the music of the game when you do this. Helps get me through the slower moments of games.
@carlos82
Considering the Xbox One X runs RDR2 at a native 4K or close to it then I don't see how they couldn't do it 4K 60 on the PS5 and Series X at least using the exact same settings. Series S might be a different story though.
@nessisonett Plot was never the series strong suit and why would the way the game released take away the essence of the gameplay? Hitman games are designed around replaying the missions and discovering new things each time, same with Dishonored, same with Thief, same with Deus Ex. All released every level in one package.
I thought Japan was usually more lenient with content in games in general? This is the country that gave us Resident Evil, did they just become more prudish over time?
The amount of post launch content support including free content in the last 3 games have been nothing short of incredible. They didn't have to go this hard.
@Milktastrophe
Bt's only appear sparingly, and I can count the amount of times I encountered mules probably on a single hand. Meanwhile much of the game is still balancing your equipment, charting a path, scaling and descending great slopes, surfaces and mountains and hills, braving dynamic weather patterns, crossing rivers, I can go on and on. All of that is still the focus, even with roads and ladders donated by players which still only make things slightly easier. Combat is at most 5 percent of the experience. I am replaying the game at this very moment on PS5 so all this is very fresh in my mind.
@Bamila
I do think that Death Stranding is kind of genius in that it throws out hostile humans/alien/zombie/things as your primary challenge and instead opts for the environment itself being the real challenge. I am just glad we got a AAA game that was so different. It's rare to have a very "indie" sort of game with such high production values.
@Mad001 Excuse me what? MGS 5 had the most refined and dynamic gameplay of the whole series. I occasionally hop in and play the odd mission again just because it feels so damn good to play.
@nomither6 Never got the hype of COD 4's campaign. Half of it is you wandering through Eastern European country-sides. Other than the opening mission on the tanker and the last couple missions I struggle to remember anything else from it. Multiplayer was fun though.
@AverageGamer That right there confirms the theory I had that the only reason there isn't a 60 fps mode of Gotham Knights on PS5 is because of crap optimization. It is barely more elaborate of a game than Arkham Knight was and that ran 30fps fine on PS4.
@GamingFan4Lyf Well the way the Fallout games work is almost like a more old school episodic based tv show. There is an overarching plot but the quests you play are pretty self contained stories. There is a main questline you can take but the beauty of Fallout is just randomly encountering seemingly minor things while exploring that brilliantly snowball into giant storylines. And most of those self contained storylines are of the same quality and caliber as the main quest line. I love that style of gameplay but if that is not your style thats fine. It's still well worth playing though. I would recommend trying out Fallout 3 and New Vegas on PC as a starting point as both games can be run pretty well on even basic PCs today. Sure the games are perfectly playable on console but on PC for these types of games particularly it's a much more comfortable experience.
@GamingFan4Lyf This show definently looks authentic I can give it that for sure. Just curious what made you stop playing? I'm traditionally Anti-RPG games and even I love Fallout.
I get Part 2 was controversial and had it's detractors but I for one quite liked the plot and can give credit for a sequel that was different and took some major risks. We might not see a third one for a while but we do know for a fact there already exists a finished script for a third game.
@tallythwack
Because Microsoft is trying to argue that Sony has alot to offer and therefore Microsoft buying Activision is not at all another attempt of theirs at a monopoly. Even though it very much is.
@dark_knightmare2
Considering how heavy re3 was criticized I don't understand how you have such a major assumption, especially from a company that has proven in the last several years that they listen to feedback. Re4 wasn't even that long of a game to begin with. You would hard pressed to find any playthrough online that surpasses 10 hours, so why would they not expand on it to justify the price tag. We will see if your tune changes after it's released.
@dark_knightmare2 For starters I quite loved the 2 remake and every RE fan I have talked to has quite liked that remake as well. And now for my main point, did you not read the article? They emphasized quite a bit that this remake while expand upon the original. Does nobody read before commenting anymore?
@MB81 When it comes to 60 fps how much you notice depends on how much movement is actually in the game. For a fast-paced action game it will stick out like a sore thumb. Turn based RPG, not so much.
@Dr_Luigi It didn't say a game has to be 60. I play 30 fps games on Switch all the time, I couldn't care less. My issue is that a game has to have a justification for not hitting that target and they just don't have one. "We can't because co-op". When has co-op ever tanked the framerate on a console that powerful? Watch Dogs Legion didn't have 60 fps at launch on PS5 for some BS reason too and then they released a 60 patch and low and behold the game had no problems reaching that target, I guarantee you they will patch this, and you can quote me six months from now when Gotham Knights gets a patch and does 60 no problem.
@Dr_Luigi
What else could be running under the hood, it uses the same exact engine Arkham Knight did. Only difference is this uses the UE4 edition while Arkham used UE3 and maybe looks slightly better than Arkham Knight did, which is a 7 year old game now. Only significant differences I can find is the world is a little bigger and it has two player co-op. How many games can you name that lost any significant performance with the inclusion of another player in the last 15 years? I just can't figure any possible reason why they can't get 60 fps out of a console that is again 8 times more powerful than the PS4 was. Its technologically similar predecessor game held 30 on PS4 for the most part.
@Dr_Luigi Rats can be CPU intensive like I said Plague has an excuse. Gotham Knights on the other hand is not much more graphically demanding than Arkham Knight was and that ran on PS4 just fine. I just struggle to see how a console that is reportedly 8 times more powerful than the PS4 is not able to do 60 fps for that game and considering Arkham Knight had a notoriously crappy PC release, I am willing to chalk it all up to bad optimizing.
@Dr_Luigi Neither Gotham Knights or this game are any more graphically demanding than many of the games on PS5 that manage 60 fps. At least with this game having hundreds of thousands of rats on screen is an excuse but for Gotham Knights that is just straight up bad optimizing. I don't think this is the industry standard going forward I really don't.
@Colour Like a year and a half ago Kojima went on a little mini tangent on Twitter about how angry he was that a game he was working on got canned. He didn't give any more detail, but it's been long speculated it was a horror title that either the rest of his dev team didn't like or that Sony wasn't impressed with in the initial pitch.
