Re: Star Wars Battlefront 2 Massively on the Up as Fans Return in Droves

PegasusActual93

@GymratAmarillo
As a lifelong Star Wars fan I have enjoyed the majority of the shows thus far not just Andor. Skeleton Crew was good, Bad Batch was good, all the Tales of were pretty good, Ashoka was fine, the only outright "bad" one for me was Acolyte, and maybe Boba Fett which even then still had it's moments. I feel some people just want to find anything and everything to b--ch and moan about (or are just butthurt that some things aren't canon anymore which does not in any way, shape or form affect your enjoyment of past content) no matter how meaningless it is. The batting average is better than some people want to give honest credit for.

Dude has had major writers block for the last like 15 years and he is almost 77 years old and not in the best of health so let's face it he probably won't have another 10 years. Maybe 5 at most. I would rather he just hand the series over to another experienced writer to finish it using his reference notes and then he can happily ride off into the sunset but he doesn't want that.

Re: Beloved Ex-PlayStation Boss Believes $70, $80 Games Are a Steal

PegasusActual93

Game prices are still the cheapest they have ever been when you factor in inflation. If you bought an SNES game in 1992 it would cost 60 dollars. Sound good right? Wrong, it would have cost 137 dollars in todays money. Bought a PS1 game in 1996, 50 dollars or 102 dollars in todays money. Bought a PS3 game in 2007, 60 dollars of 92 dollars in todays money. 60 dollar games were the norm for over 2 decades and that's while game development costs were skyrocketing. I'm surprised they didn't raise the price at least a decade ago. Also SNES and PS1 games were significantly shorter and lighter on content in general outside of RPG's. Pick any game on the PS1 that wasn't an RPG, look up playthroughs of it on YouTube and I guarantee you that playthrough is 8 hours or less (vast majority don't even exceed 6). Meanwhile todays games regardless of genre almost always last into at least the double digit hours. You all really do not understand how good you have it now.

Re: Video: DOOM Gameplay Comparison Shows Decades of Evolution

PegasusActual93

@BAMozzy
Doomguy didn't feel weak in Eternal, he had the highest kill count in it of any Doom game in the series (at least until Dark Ages) and combat was brutal with many weapons like the Super Shotgun, Ballista, and especially the BFG being extremely punchy. That never changed. Also the platforming is not nearly as hard as people seem to make it out to be, 95 percent of it is jump button, boost button, point in the direction where you need to go. Not exactly Mario Odyssey level of complexity there.

Re: Just Like the Game, The Last of Us 2's TV Adaptation Is Getting Review Bombed

PegasusActual93

@Ultimapunch
The perfect summary of these review bombing idiots is that there's this image that incel haters of the show keep spreading around of some screenshot of Bella making a face for half a second that kind of sort of looks funny that 99.999 percent of viewers didn't even notice. Thats all they are whining about right now. People sometimes make faces in high stress situations. Is this really what they waste their energy on all day? Talk about a miserable existence to be this perpetually mad about so many nothing burgers.

I was using the elevator video as another example; way to be incredibly dishonest bro. Also I'm not triggered by the other guy just debunking stupid claims because someone lacks any and all media literacy. Also what about what i said ignored reality or was "virtue signaling" whatever that even means. Thats the same as "woke" it has no meaning anymore and is now just "thing I don't like".

Re: TV Show Review: The Last of Us (HBO) Season 2 Episode 1 - Structure Changes Keep Things Fresh

PegasusActual93

@NintenGuy
I've watched security footage of a woman in an elevator (I believe it was in Turkey if I remember correctly) take out 3 guys at the same time who were at least twice her size not because of strength but because she knew where to grab and or hit them, technique trumps brute strength everytime, thats fighting 101. Again making a mountain out of what isn't even a molehill. If you were playing a video game I bet you wouldn't even be moaning about a woman beating up guys or a woman in a video game shooting hundreds of people and surviving that ala Tomb Raider or Perfect Dark or countless other games and if you are then jesus christ talk about needing to get a life.

@Gr8VngnzN4esAngr
Way to make mountains out of things that are not even molehills.
1. My wife does judo and has knocked over guys 3 times her size, technique trumps all brute strength. Also they even make the comment he was holding back and could have easily knocked her out.
2. What "resist patriarchy" crap are you even talking about? They live in a post apocalyptic commune where everyone has to pitch in just to get by, there is no patriarchy anymore.
3. All that refugee scene was, was two people having a debate about whether they can continue to bring in more survivors in the camp with both sides debating opposite viewpoints. That's called a conversation genius.
4. The homophobe guys race is
completely irrelevant only you are
making it a race thing.
5. "This is why western media is in doldrums" is the type of stupid twitterbrained crap I can never take seriously with you types. Media is not struggling because views expressed in a show or movie offends your personal widdle feelings. Grow up. Eastern media has always expressed morals/politics since the beginning of time too. Ever played a Final Fantasy or Metal Gear game? Super political. Anyway I guarantee if the show was spouting political views you agreed with you wouldn't be moaning hypocrite. Every piece of media since the beginning of time has expressed ideas both moral and political, just because you were either too young or too naive to have understood them is on you alone.

Nightdives whole thing is taking old classic/cult classic games and trying to update them to make them much more accessible both technological and control wise. Typically that means better resolution, improved controls, sometimes extra content if available, runs well on modern hardware when prior to this it would have been a nightmare to run on modern PC's, etc. How much more do you need?

Thing that baffles me about acquisitions like this is that the companies who do it seem to lack any foresight whatsoever. They go "We're rich lets buy up all these companies, oh s--t we can't afford to keep them open now". Do they not have accountants who map out how much they can afford to spend well in advance? I know projects go overbudget and unforeseen things happen and all that but you can always account for this.

Re: HBO's The Last of Us: Season 2 Debuts in April

PegasusActual93

@XanderTigerclaw
European shows have done the 6-8 episode thing for as long as TV has existed. So this isn't even anything close to new. And the only real reason you got 20+ episode season shows to begin with was because the landscape was much different. Shows were made at a major financial loss and only recouped their costs via syndication. Syndication obviously isn't much of a thing anymore so instead production companies have elected to do less episodes but with more money pumped into each episode and a generally higher quality per episode. Plus episodes of shows now are generally longer than they used to be. I would personally rather take 7 high quality 60 minute episodes a season of Last of Us over 30, 20 minute episodes a season of a mediocre ass sitcom and 45 minute episodes of another formuliac ass drama like what used to plague every TV network.

Re: HBO's The Last of Us: Season 2 Debuts in April

PegasusActual93

@breakneck
The smart thing I would do to adapt the second game is to tell the story in chronological order and not like in the game, that way we get plenty of time with Joel and Ellies relationship and would therefore make you know what happening several episodes in instead of episode 1. That would work that much better. I hope that's the route they went with.

@8bit4Life
How is diversity political though. What is political about being black in a story? Or gay? Or a woman? Is being a white character in a story political too then? How is somebody who just exists political? Also just about every story since the beginning of time including in video games has had some kind of message behind it. Most just don't complain because they were either too young to remember, too stupid to get the obvious, or it was politics they agreed with so they didn't complain because of double standards.

Re: EA Shot Down Creators' Dead Space 4 Pitch in 2024

Callisto only flopped because it cost an obscene amount of money to make. 161 million roughly. With marketing costs on top of that I think they estimated it had to have sold close to 5 million copies just to break-even which is insanity for a new IP.

"The Final Fantasy brand isn't nearly as popular as the internet would like to believe".
I mean FF XV sold over 10 million copies, FF XVI sold over 3 million copies in just it's first week and FF7 Remake sold 3 million copies in as many days at the height of Covid lockdowns. Sure that's not quite Call of Duty numbers but that is still pretty damn popular.

Re: Industry Analyst Argues Either Sony or Microsoft Will Need to Exit the Console Market

@Korgon
History has shown that Nintendo has been able to reinvent themselves and have major success time and time again. The WIIU was by no means their only low point at least in terms of popularity. The N64 was incredibly niche compared to the PS1 and the Gamecube compared to PS2 even more so until the WII made them dominate hardware sales again. Even if the Switch 2 doesn't enjoy the level of popularity as the Switch I think they will still find some way to put their tried and true (use cheap and established hardware in unique ways) design philosophy to good use.
