@UltimateOtaku91 Just so you know the game gets easier and easier the more you play, you get access to vehicles, ziplines, robots that carry stuff for you etc. By late game delivering packages gets stupidly easy.
@Athrum Nightdives whole thing is taking old classic/cult classic games and trying to update them to make them much more accessible both technological and control wise. Typically that means better resolution, improved controls, sometimes extra content if available, runs well on modern hardware when prior to this it would have been a nightmare to run on modern PC's, etc. How much more do you need?
@ATaco Not how free speech works, if you dislike the game then knock yourself out; but sending death threats (which is depressingly common with gamers nowadays) is never okay and should have legal repercussions.
@JVCIOM70
Metros developers are Ukranian and have had to put up with all kinds of BS with the Russian government, for example during the Crimean annexation in 2014 they famously had to smuggle Xbox One and PS4 dev kits into the country. Please support these devs they deserve it.
@Fluberuper
Was quite popular when it came out and did very well at the box office but yeah it's been almost 20 years and it has arguably not aged well.
"Run its Solid Snake!" "It looks like Solid Snake but due to international copyright law it is not" "But still run like its Solid Snake!" "Even though it is not"
@Jireland92 The first game sold 19 million units and many of those were long after it was a PS4 exclusive and became available on other platforms. There's a very active community on PC especially. This will sell.
@zhoont
You dont need to put failed in quotation marks. It was an incredibly expensive game and didn't sell enough copies to turn a profit. Needed 5 million copies just to break even and it barely broke 2. That's a financial failure.
@get2sammyb Thing that baffles me about acquisitions like this is that the companies who do it seem to lack any foresight whatsoever. They go "We're rich lets buy up all these companies, oh s--t we can't afford to keep them open now". Do they not have accountants who map out how much they can afford to spend well in advance? I know projects go overbudget and unforeseen things happen and all that but you can always account for this.
@nessisonett
A good 50 percent of games that were released in the PS3/360 era was using some form of UE3 and that covered games as varied in art style from Mass Effect to Borderlands to the Batman Arkham games. This is not a new trend.
People disliked Eternal? It had the most expansive combat system in the series thus far and the platforming was a welcome break from all the shooting. I have a hard time going back to Doom 2016 now as it just feels like a slower and less refined Eternal.
@trev666
Bioshock had weird animation and incredibly plasticky looking character models even when it was released. The Unreal 2 engine was showing it's age by 2007. Infinite still holds up graphically though in my opinion.
@XanderTigerclaw
European shows have done the 6-8 episode thing for as long as TV has existed. So this isn't even anything close to new. And the only real reason you got 20+ episode season shows to begin with was because the landscape was much different. Shows were made at a major financial loss and only recouped their costs via syndication. Syndication obviously isn't much of a thing anymore so instead production companies have elected to do less episodes but with more money pumped into each episode and a generally higher quality per episode. Plus episodes of shows now are generally longer than they used to be. I would personally rather take 7 high quality 60 minute episodes a season of Last of Us over 30, 20 minute episodes a season of a mediocre ass sitcom and 45 minute episodes of another formuliac ass drama like what used to plague every TV network.
@breakneck
The smart thing I would do to adapt the second game is to tell the story in chronological order and not like in the game, that way we get plenty of time with Joel and Ellies relationship and would therefore make you know what happening several episodes in instead of episode 1. That would work that much better. I hope that's the route they went with.
@8bit4Life
How is diversity political though. What is political about being black in a story? Or gay? Or a woman? Is being a white character in a story political too then? How is somebody who just exists political? Also just about every story since the beginning of time including in video games has had some kind of message behind it. Most just don't complain because they were either too young to remember, too stupid to get the obvious, or it was politics they agreed with so they didn't complain because of double standards.
I don't get why the Series S even exists. Yeah it's cheaper but with lower end hardware it was always going to be a headache later on in the console generation when we get increasingly more demanding games and I refuse to believe nobody at Microsoft had the foresight to predict this.
@PuppetMaster Callisto only flopped because it cost an obscene amount of money to make. 161 million roughly. With marketing costs on top of that I think they estimated it had to have sold close to 5 million copies just to break-even which is insanity for a new IP.
@Puketapu Not every genre is for everybody. I love FPS games but apparently 90 percent of this website has some kind of irrational vendetta against anything that is first person.

"The Final Fantasy brand isn't nearly as popular as the internet would like to believe".
I mean FF XV sold over 10 million copies, FF XVI sold over 3 million copies in just it's first week and FF7 Remake sold 3 million copies in as many days at the height of Covid lockdowns. Sure that's not quite Call of Duty numbers but that is still pretty damn popular.
@Korgon History has shown that Nintendo has been able to reinvent themselves and have major success time and time again. The WIIU was by no means their only low point at least in terms of popularity. The N64 was incredibly niche compared to the PS1 and the Gamecube compared to PS2 even more so until the WII made them dominate hardware sales again. Even if the Switch 2 doesn't enjoy the level of popularity as the Switch I think they will still find some way to put their tried and true (use cheap and established hardware in unique ways) design philosophy to good use.
@Michael2008ish From what I gather the gameplay wasn't bad at all it just had piss poor marketing and the 40 dollar price tag when all of it's competitors are free to play was a death sentence.
@thefourfoldroot1 Most PS1 games (with the exception of multiple disc games) are less than 600MB of data. Most PS2 games don't even exceed 2GB. Crazy to think how much game sizes have changed. All those graphical details today add up.

Religious institutions are by far the most prolific perpetrators of covering up child sex abuse especially in my country. Catholic Church definitely has the most money to cover it up but Protestant sects are almost as prolific and don't even get me started on many Muslim or Hindu sects forcing the marrying off of underaged girls. Archbishop was only resigned because the public exposure was too great and I guarantee you there will be no legal repercussions as usual. Not even taking into account all the lower ranking clergy members who have not faced any legal punishments for touching kids both in the Vatican and in countless Catholic churches around the world. Not even getting into the thousands of dead bodies of Indigenous and orphaned children from abuse that have been exhumed in the grounds near various Catholic churches in recent years either. Religious institutions and child abuse go hand in hand and need major changes sorry not sorry. Just calling out evil and hypocrisy where I see it.

Yeah no. It's one thing to develop a game and it's another to truly master its gameplay mechanics. Those two are entirely separate entities. Hidetaka Miyazaki has admitted he's not very good at any of the souls games he develops for just one example of countless others.
