Re: Talking Point: Did the PS5 Games Reveal Event Meet Your Expectations?

PcTV

I think outside the planet-travel we saw on Ratchet & Clank, I'm mostly unimpressed with what we saw. Resident Evil Village looks intense, and can't wait, but it doesn't feel "next gen" to me.
I also find it terrible that we're yet to know the price. Makes it feel like they have a PS3 in their hands and they know it.

Re: Poll: Are You Noticing PS4 Loading Times More Since PS5's Reveal?

PcTV

I would say load times have gotten better on PS4 since launch.
But some games launched with loading times that frankly shouldn't have been that long in the first place.

However, I'm more interested in leaving behind the masked load times. Y'know, helping your friend jump to the other side in ND games, or Lara Croft slowly crossing a tight spot.
I wished the PS4 Pro had a 4K BD Drive and proper SSD support, as both of those would greatly help.(I honestly thought it had a 4K BD drive when I bought it.)
But I guess they were waiting on PS5.

Re: Talking Point: Can PS5 Make Sony the King of Indie Games Again?

PcTV

@get2sammyb Could you be confusing a derrogatory name for a lack of "AAA" for Indie support? Because that's what pops up the most doing a quick Google search, almost all of it dating back to 2014.

Excluding PC, the Xbox 360 had a way bigger indie platform, the Vita might've had good support, but the 3DS dwarfs it, and the Switch would be the proper "indie king" of consoles for a good 3 years now.

So if all the "Indiestation 4" has to show for itself it the launch year, it might have to do more with the Xbox One doing pretty bad at the time. Because even the Wii U had a lot of support, Shovel Knight being the biggest examples, and still one of the biggest indies.

Re: Kingdom Hearts All-in-One Package Is a Big Headache in One Box

PcTV

@FullbringIchigo Maybe complicated is not the right word, perhaps uninviting for newcommers is a better description. They do seem to expect you to know certain things from game to game. The demo of the 3DS game felt like it was in the middle of a story rather than at the beginning of one. And I just stopped playing as that feeling never really left.

Re: PSone Crushed the N64 Because of Depressing Games and Lonely Players

PcTV

@Mafia_Man19 I'll ignore the name calling, I'd lower to that level but you'd win by experience!

I'm just gonna correct you in case someone actually reads this: the PS5 and Series X are both confirmed to have a 4K BD Drives. The fact that the One X doesn't use it for gaming is to have full compatibility with One games.

Re: PSone Crushed the N64 Because of Depressing Games and Lonely Players

@HammerKirby3 Well, given that both PS4 and XBO require installations because discs are too slow, no, I don't think it's an exageration. Even X360 and PS3 started using installs to speed up loading.
Given what was possible on N64 I wouldn't say worse, but different perhaps. Some games on N64 had voiceacting to a degree you wouldn't think possible given the reputation of the N64.
Conker's Bad Fur Day, Rogue Squadron, Resident Evil 2 come to mind.
With N64's better handling of 3D gameplay and less issues with texture warping, they'd be interesting takes on those games.

@Ristar24 I never owned a Dreamcast but those are very infamous.
I'd be surprised if you ever rented a PS1 game or bought a used game and never got one that just didn't work anymore.
Conversion issues also happened a lot with PS1, and PS2 for that matter. An issue only fixed until 60hz became the worldwide standard.

Re: PSone Crushed the N64 Because of Depressing Games and Lonely Players

@Ralizah Oh I'm well aware of the reason, I just don't think it's an excuse.
It would benefit everyone who buys physical games, a shrinking market, I realise.
But it would be just better to not have to worry about scratches (I've personally have had to return dozens of used games because they just didn't work) or having to buy external memories due to large installs.

Re: Guide: All Free PS Plus Games in 2020

PcTV

PS Plus isn't free, and if you cancel your paid subscription, you can't access these games anymore.
You also can't get all the year's games for paying one month, you'll exclusively get that month's games.
I feel like commenting this since I often see people asking these kind of questions because of articles like this.
