Re: Poll: Did You Buy the Dead Space PS5 Remake?

PVTHudson

Only game I've paid £70 for is Gran Turismo 7. Not sure there's much else out that I'd consider for that price. I'll be waiting a while for God of War Ragnarok, The Last of Us part 1, Dead Space and all future releases before they're more affordable. In a living crisis it should be the corps struggling not the little man.

Re: The Elden Ring Board Game Has Us Ready to Become Maidenless Once More

PVTHudson

I went on a binge in the early days and still have boardgames I've not played from KS. Think I'm still waiting for one from like 2018. They take up so much room. The miniatures look great but I have enough to paint with the Joan of Arc, Nemesis and LOTR boardgames. I can't justify it. I'm finally coming to the end of my first play through at 200 hours and am a bit tired of it. Looking forward to chilling out with The Witcher 3 on PS5 over Xmas. I've been craving it all through Elden Ring but been waiting for the update.

Re: Best Indie Games on PS4

PVTHudson

Best Indie game of all time is Outer Wilds and it's on PS4... Not in the top 20?

Also Disco Elysium didn't make the top 20? Ouch.

Where's Subnautica? Again not in the top 20, seriously my tastes must be so niche.

I can see why Stardew Valley is tippy top, love that game but not my favourite.

Re: Syphon Filter (PS1) - Espionage and Intrigue Abounds in This Scruffy Cinematic Shooter

PVTHudson

I saw this was free for any one with PS Plus so had to give it a go for the Nostalgia. I thought the classics would be for the top level only so nice to see it in Essential.

Whoa boy was that a trip. Hardest part for me was going into the pause menu every time to switch weapons. Being able to rewind the game is also very strange but probably means once you get to grips with the controls it would be quite short.

Re: What Remains of Edith Finch PS5 Version Supposedly in the Works

PVTHudson

I enjoyed parts but the genre of walking sim is just overdone at this point.

If this wants to take the title of best of the bunch sure, but there was little to love from the genre. Maybe it was the hype and reviews that stopped it from really hitting home.

I'd definitely think all these types of game could do a little bit more to be true gems like Obra Dinn and The Outer Wilds.

I've never been one to replay these games so it's a bit surprising they would re-release it on PS5, anyone know what they're working on next?

Re: Poll: Do You Care About PlayStation TV Shows?

PVTHudson

Frankly though TV is just so good at the moment and with so many different streaming services how is anyone going to afford to watch all these if they are split across the platforms.

They need to make a deal with Netflix or Amazon but seeing as TLOU is already with HBO they're going to end up all over the place. Fingers crossed they don't try to create their own streaming service.

Re: Poll: Do You Care About PlayStation TV Shows?

PVTHudson

Twisted Metal could be interesting if they got George Miller associated and turned it more Mad Max.

Ghost if Tsushima could pretty much use the original cast and as long as it spends more time with the characters and story, shot like a Kurosawa film I'm in.

Re: Poll: Do You Care About PlayStation TV Shows?

PVTHudson

Having played Gran Turismo for over 100 hours since release I would definitely watch a TV series and movie celebrating the car in the same slick fashion the game is presented in. I also imagine having the series based on the world series in GT sport would be pretty good, depending on the presenters and commentary team.

Re: Best Indie Games on PS5

PVTHudson

@Ward_ting yeah, both that and Life Is Strange got picked up by a TV studio for adaptations. I have mixed feelings when they adapt games, let alone ones that are exclusively based around player choice.

Re: Best Indie Games on PS5

PVTHudson

2nd place is pretty damn good for me. Haven't played Hades yet, technically still really need to finish their other games... Disco Elysium was more my speed, fantastic art style, funny, depressing and so different. No idea how it will translate into a TV show.

Re: Gran Turismo 7 PS5, PS4 Has Been Offline All Day

PVTHudson

This game is amazing, but to be handled this way is just a disgrace. It's didn't work with GT Sport so why they continued to go the always online + micro transaction route is just nuts. Please just bring back an enjoyable car game without any guff.

Old Gran Turismo did this and so did Drive Club, all excellent. Sony is must be pushing this as one of their live service cluster *****. Well done them. Get back to making the best games against the industry BS.

Re: Gran Turismo 7 PS5, PS4 Updates to Add Cars, Courses, and So Much More

PVTHudson

I bought Dying Light 2 because I was bored, succumbed to the reviews of Horizon FW and put off Elden Ring because I still have Sekiro on the back burner and FromS games always need some jank ironed out. GT7 is filling a void in my gaming life that takes me back, heap on the nostalgia. Not been this excited for a release since Cyberpunk. Reviews are giving me confidence I can trust this is just going to be what I need right now.

Re: Supply Constrained PS5 Sold Almost 1 Million Units in Japan in 2021

PVTHudson

I love the idea that the issue is about outselling the best... If that was the case why would Microsoft make a console. Oh wait because it still makes money. Sony could bring out a handheld and it be a success financially just not compared to the switch. If any recent news stories are to go by Sony is not in it to just make money but want quality as part of the brand. (Days gone/Gof Tsushima)

Re: Game of the Year: Top 10 PS5, PS4 Soundtracks of 2021

PVTHudson

Since playing Disco Elysium in March there has not been a single day I have not listened to a track from the OST or from Sea Power's original versions. Red Rock Riviera is the first track on my video game music playlist and I could listen to that and many others endlessly.

Re: Not Everyone Had the Fortitude to Finish Returnal on PS5

PVTHudson

SPOILERS!!!! If anyone wants a way to cheese the ending make sure to use the Reconstructor. I did it on a previous playthrough after dying to the boss and when you get back there is a glitch where it doesn't show up. Luckily didn't need it when I finally got the key.

Re: Poll: What Is Your PS5, PS4 Game of the Year 2021?

PVTHudson

5 - Returnal, crept in after the recent updates. Really superb combat and gameplay loop. Lots of mystery and great level design. Only weak point for me was the story but it nailed the atmosphere perfectly.

4 - Kena Bridge of Spirits, I mean I'm still hung up on the price of some games, this was £32 and is just cracking. Very cutesy, but stronger performances and it just looks like a Pixar movie and gives me heavy platform nostalgia from previous generations.

3 - Ghost of Tsushima, I just can't not include this game. I love the world, it has the most beautiful landscapes and vistas. Story was epic in the right ways and it was just nice to finally have the Samurai game I always wanted.

2 - Death Stranding, first time I played this I was not too fussed. 60 hours later into the Director's Cut and I hate myself for not giving it a go sooner. It has a really enjoyable gameplay loop and if you love the Scottish Hebrides and Iceland it looks fantastic. Performances are strong for what must be near possible to convey to an actor. Music is haunting in all the right ways that can make me feel reflective and pumped at the same time. Truly mind boggling game.

1 - Disco Elysium, erm well as you can see from my profile pic. It just had to be. No game affected me this year the way Disco did. The gameplay what there was is just passable, I had one major bug and I missed seeing facial expressions of the characters etc.. but oh my. Even without that I was there in Martinaise. The setting, the grim dark noir narrative got under my skin. The music was everything, Sea Power (British) have become a permanent fixture in my playlists, thoroughly deserved an award for the soundtrack. More than that even, the humour was right what I needed, I've never laughed so hard at a game. From accidental deaths, to the constant disgrace, to singing out of tune it was just so refreshing. The voice acting was so unique and every character felt so true but with something bubbling beneath the surface.

The world let me escape during a tough year and gave me some memories I'll take with me for the rest of my life. The main thing I'll take though is that a stranger can be the most dependable person you know, it's the man who does the right things always. He wears glasses and an orange jacket. His name is Kim and he's my hero.

Re: Poll: 10 Years Later, What Are Your Thoughts on Skyrim?

PVTHudson

Was not as special at the time as when Oblivion came out. Have tried on multiple occasions and just have no drive to go through the story. The Witcher 2: Assassin of Kings came out the same year and in my unpopular opinion demonstrated how RPGs were going. Skyrim has aged terribly and if it wasn't for the awesome modding community fixing Bethesda's lazy efforts would be forgotten.
