Why is this becoming a running theme with demos only being on Steam, first Pragmata now this, I swear if there is a RE9 demo for Steam only, Ima crash out. Regarding the game however, it actually looks a lot of fun, depending on the price this could be a day 1.

I think the worst thing about the reveal trailer, was it stated to be a "New breed of shooter" then proceeded to show the most generic gameplay in recent memory. Also being the closer for the game awards really didn't help it either. I don't take pleasure in bashing studios but sometimes they really do this to themselves.

Calling it early but I can see RE9, Phantom Blade 0, Wolverine being contenders for GOTY.

@themightyant I wouldn't say no to a game about "the writers" if you know you know...

@ShadowRJ I think the biggest offenders of that would be the RPG era of Assassin's Creed, now they are the defination of bloat. This maybe a hot take to some but FF7 Rebirth is a almost perfect game (yes including Chadley) but I can see why people call a bloat fest.

Personally having 100+ hour stories is what I love the most, as you really get to know the characters/the world and lore and when you finally roll credits it just hits different, and that's not even exclusively to JRPGs, KCD2 is same and that is a 10/10 experience, granted I know some people don't have the time, but there has to be a give and take on this subject.

That's a pretty good top 20, surprised TR got 5th over Phantom Blade but ain't that mad about it , so many good games this year.

Onimusha = Needs a demo/more gameplay shown off
Tomb Raider = Lara is too attractive = makes it a day 1
Halo = Needed MP to make it a purchase for me

I watched the stream live, it was incredible. I believe she is going for all endings soon!

I got to say in all honesty, that's a very respectable top 20.

While I have grown tired over the sheer amount of glaze the game has gotten in the second part of 2025, there's no way I can't deny it doesn't deserve GOTY spot, After I finished the game in 5 days when it released I knew it would win.

Edit: I want to add Fatal Frame 2 remake to the list, and maybe Code Violet but that game does seem like a massive red flag, also no mention of Nioh 3, so already the start of year is stacked (for me personally at least)

With Monster Hunter Wilds still having performance issues it should be excluded from the list.

Brilliant experience and Sucker Punch's best game to date, I'm very curious to see they do some story DLC in the future
(personally my 3rd favourite game of the year)

I think it's time for them to start showing off Townfall, obvs we have SH1R after that, so I wonder what else they have in the pipe line? They also stated that they want to have Silent Hill in different countries like Italy or Russia for example.

@UltimateOtaku91 More people nowadays do not buy games on release and just wait for a sale, so I can't see that being a problem but more options.

Finally some justice to KCD2. This to me is what a RPG should be. Changing your pictos doesn't make it a actual RPG in my eyes.
