Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 3 PS5

Members of the Final Fantasy VII Remake development team have done another media blast this week, as Square Enix readies Final Fantasy VII Rebirth for Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch 2.

Many of the interviews focus on the porting process from PS5 to the other consoles, but director Naoki Hamaguchi still found time to tease the third and final instalment in the remake project. Speaking to Comicbook, the lead developer said Square Enix is now actively preparing for the official unveiling.

Hamaguchi shared: "We know many fans are eagerly waiting, and preparations toward the announcement are steadily underway. Please look forward to it just a little longer." The quote came after he said development of the third game is "proceeding on time and on schedule", and fans should be confident it's a strong end to the trilogy.

Despite the current focus at Square Enix of getting the first two RPGs on other platforms, there's a strong sense within the fanbase that the third entry will be revealed soon. Final Fantasy VII Rebirth was unveiled during a Summer Game Fest showcase, and with this year's livestream only a handful of weeks away, there's a possibility the third game could turn up on Geoff Keighley's stage.

Whereas the first two titles were exclusive to PS5 and PS4 to start with, the suggestion is that the third one will be multi-platform straight away to line up with Square Enix's new strategy. Final Fantasy VII Rebirth lands on Xbox and Switch 2 in early June, and upon their release, the new cheats and boosts for those versions will be patched into the PS5 edition.

Square Enix has already decided on the official name for Part 3 internally, and there's a chance we'll discover it too in the coming months. When do you think the reveal will take place? Put your prediction in the comments below.
