Lost Soul Aside probably ended up being one of our biggest disappointments of 2025, but it's great to see developer UltiZero Games sticking with the Sony-published title well after release.
The studio's just dropped another major patch — by our count, the fifth of its kind — adding a slew of new and improved content alongside some fairly meaningful tweaks. Version 1.103 is available to download now on PS5.
Key additions include a scoring system for the game's easy difficulty, and a new accessory that, when equipped, makes the game harder. Some slick cosmetics have been added, too.

A bunch of gameplay balance adjustments have been made as well: the Poleblade has been handed a flat 15% damage buff, and a couple of particularly frustrating platforming puzzles have been toned down.
But there's one really interesting improvement listed towards the bottom of the patch notes. Apparently, "optimisations" have been made to enemy hit animations to "enhance the feeling of impact".
Given that so many attacks tend to lack impact — a popular criticism of the game — this could be a surprisingly big deal.
Anyway, here are the patch notes in full:

Again, this is Lost Soul Aside's fifth major update, and it goes without saying that the game's in a much improved state at this point. Indeed, many of the criticisms we brought up in our Lost Soul Aside PS5 review simply don't hold up anymore — and that's a surefire sign of progress.

When it hits Plus i look forward to trying it.
I've been really meaning to buy this one, but I'm broke :/
"Indeed, many of the criticisms we brought up in our Lost Soul Aside PS5 review simply don't hold up anymore"
Would PushSquare do a re-review?
I actually quite enjoyed this. Nothing amazing, but certainly nothing bad either, and nothing broken.
The impact of hits issue reported in reviews was substantially improved in the 1st patch if I remember correctly.
not sure if this is answered or not , but is pssr 2.0 and ps5 pro supported ?
Has the dub or story been cleaned up? I’m interested but I also heard they were pretty rough.
Picked it up for $20 a few months ago, I figured that it’ll be in pretty decent shape by the time I finally get around to trying it.
Didn't realise this even came out lol
Does this mean it will get a re-review just like Crimson Desert is getting?
Might finally pick this up then
I picked this up for around £20.00 not long after it released, still haven’t played it though. Sounds like it’ll be in decent shape by the time that I do.
Busy at the moment with Hades 2 and probably getting Saros this long weekend but yeah... Whenever it hits the plus catalogue i suppose
I don't like re-reviewing games. I feel like the original score should stand. If something changes substantially, then you can append a note explaining that all of these changes have beenmade and we may have scored the game differently if it launched this way. You can do the same thing for games that launch and are solid and then introduce some sort of terrible monetization scheme or introduce some other features that significantly affect the experience in a negative way. I don't think review scores should be fluid.
@PuppetMaster why should they get another review you release it in a crap state people pay full you deserve your bad mark.
This game is primed for Plus. I just know the second I buy this on a sale it will be on Plus a few months later. Lucky the backlog is long.
@nyr2k2 while i agree , i feel like a updated review should be like " review of the update" or something along those lines.
@Oram77 It should. As much as people hate games being released before they are done, if a game changes substantially enough it really should at least have it amended if they fixed or added things that alleviate the original issues. People do still look to outlets for reviews of games to buy later and if the review includes things that are no longer true they should be updated.
@For-Kier i hear that , i'm interested in this game but i have a bunch of games to play right now , its kind of a waste if i did buy it.
@For-Kier Kinda think the old style of reviewing is starting to become obsolete, I am a person that believes a game can redeem itself given time.
@Oram77 i feel like a good middle ground is having the original review , and then an updated review post patches , which shows they put in effort in listening and using that feed back to fix and improve the game vs just standing there and saying it is what it is.
This get to much for no reason lol the game was originally made by 1 guy then Sony came put probably 10 ppl working on this with a bare minimum budget wtf ppl expect from this a masterpiece
I bought the game because i respect this guy work and start doing this alone is insane and I ended up enjoy the game agree the eng voices are absolutely trash but if you switch to JP voices that becomes a non issue
Now with more experience I can see the next project being more solid
@Flaming_Kaiser Cyberpunk 2077 and No Man's Sky got a second review from many outlets. So why this game can't get the same treatment?
Ohhh! Lost Soul Aside is a game's title...
Still looks absolutely horrendous.
@PuppetMaster I think none should get a second review. No man Sky is a almost a new game at this point plus all provements are free. Developers should start releasing more finished and fixing games. Lost Soul Aside is now what it should be if its not finished release it in early access at a reduced price if you want games to be play tested the way Hades did.
