Original Story: Path of Exile 2 developer Grinding Gear Games has confirmed that Patch 0.1.1 is dropping this week. It'll be the action RPG's first major update, as the team gears up for 2025 as a whole.

We don't have official patch notes just yet, but in the above video, game director Jonathan Rogers gives an overview of what you can expect. Basically, the goal of Patch 0.1.1 is to address immediate concerns — mostly with regards to balance — without having to completely overhaul systems or mechanics.

We've gathered the main points into a handy list:

  • Better, more rewarding mapping
  • Added four more Tower maps
  • Overhauled existing Tower map
  • More boss maps will spawn
  • New tablet lets you add bosses to your map
  • Overhauled strongboxes
  • Overhauled map clutter and visual effects for better visibility on some maps
  • Elemental explosion visuals have been improved for better visibility
  • Increased the Atlas' zoom level
  • Fixed terrain collision issues on many maps
  • Improved load times when opening the map or Atlas
  • Numerous League improvements to make challenges more rewarding
  • Various improvements to loot
  • Rebalancing of specific bosses and monsters
  • Added item filters for console players
  • Numerous bug fixes

It all sounds rather positive, and as Rogers says, this is really just the beginning when it comes to improving Path of Exile 2. Again, the team's got a busy year ahead — and we can't forget that this is still technically an early access release.
