Re: Game of the Year: #3 - Horizon Forbidden West

@Loftimus “youve just proved my point darling.”

Wrong.

“All of the artifacts and audio logs describe the lore aka the setting (which is just as fantastic in the second game).”

Wrong.

“The story mechanics are what drive the game forward.”

So wrong.

Look, I can see I’ve hurt your delicate sensibilities. You’re absolutely right, baby - the story in Forbidden West is amazing. Couldn’t have written it better myself lol it’s not silly, or absurd, it’s wonderful… really… 👀

@Loftimus well if all you took away from the first game is that it was a ‘basic origin story’ I’m not surprised you preferred the story in the second game. You have to pay attention to the details, baby. Did you read the artefacts and listen to the audio logs in the first game? Forbidden West was amateur hour compared to the first. The article in question even states ‘it’s all a bit silly’ and it was. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t hate Forbidden West but the story was awful.

@bozz Game of Thrones was a brilliant show with Dragons and and army of undead zombie-like creatures, until the writing fell off a cliff. Same applies to Horizon. None of the characters in Horizon Forbidden West behave like real people would. The writing is shockingly bad.

Re: PSVR2 Pre-Orders No Longer Require an Invite

I bought PSVR and barely used it. I’ll wait for PSVR2 to flop and pick it up at a huge discount.

I don’t think scalpers will touch this. No way near the amount of demand PS5 has.

Feels like a really bad time for Sony to be releasing an expensive and niche product like this (in the midst of a global recession lol).

@naruball well, there is TLoU2 and Horizon - not sure if Aloy is gay (I’m sure it was hinted at in Forbidden West) but they definitely made her face more ‘masculine’ in the sequel (god forbid she be seen as conventionally ‘pretty’). Female leads have to be super strong, determined and smart to be taken seriously, apparently. They certainly can’t be seen as being an object of desire for evil men, hell no. I don’t care if the lead is gay or not but I know for certain that Days Gone with a female lead (gay or straight) would have been reviewed better than it was. It would have been seen as being brave and progressive or whatever. Days Gone with an unapologetically ‘male’ lead was easy for reviewers to dismiss and write-off as a failure. The fact that it resonated so much with actual gamers speaks volumes.

@EaglyTheKawaiiShika I think he’s saying because the main character was like a redneck male and kind of a douchebag the game was reviewed unfairly. If the main character was a butch woman (or anything other than what it actually was), it would have been reviewed more favourably. There’s probably some truth to that. If this game was about a female biker trying to find her girlfriend, we’d probably have two or three sequels by now lol
