Re: Street Fighter 6's Battle Pass Brings the Heat with Retro Games, Classic Music, and More

Migoshuro

@get2sammyb Irony? Because, of course, having a "Battle Pass" AND a "Fighter Pass" is not inherently confusing at all. It's nearly as not confusing as having tons of different editions to buy of a game, with different digital content and different access tiers. And because practically all games have it theses days it (which is wrong, by the way), that just evaporates every feel of confusion about it. And I would never in the world believe that these (dis)service game-shenanigans are purposefully build to confuse you, so that you better buy everything, before you miss a worthless emote. Like ingame currency, which is just there to make it easier for you to see how much money you pay, not to confuse you.

No problem, when people like certain service-games ("Street Fighter 6" will probably the first one, I pay money for on a regular basis), but just because something is normal, doesn't mean it's okay and there is seriously NO reason to defend this nonsense. Sorry, your comment to me shows a lack of empathy and comes off a little arrogant.
If you have been sarcastic, I want to apologize.

Re: Here's Why You Need to Tune in to Ubisoft's E3-Style Livestream

Migoshuro

As a huuuuge "Avatar"-Fan, I'm very interested in the upcoming game, although I'm still worried. Not sure, why they choose a first-person-perspective, because I would imagine an adaptation to be very heavy on platforming. I think the main pull of the movies are their high level of immersion. So that should be the priority of the game. Maybe that's why they go with the ego-viewpoint. Can't bring myself to imagine that the story will be very interesting in the whole context of the "Avatar"-universe. It'll probably take place in the time between the second arrival of humans and the events in "The Way of Water". And that game has to be a real visual stunner. So they better deliver.^^
But I give it some faith, because I think Massive Entertainment is a good studio.
I don't believe for a single second, that we will see "Beyond Good & Evil 2" (ever again), though. Which is a huge shame. That game had a vision.

Re: Poll: Which PS5 Blockbuster Will You Be Playing in June?

Migoshuro

"Street Fighter 6", baby! No contest.

With the Blizzard from maybe 15 years ago, I would be seriously hyped for "Diablo IV". But now, I have no faith that they won't reveal some absolute ***** practice with the game, last minute. I'm also of the kind that plays through the campaign once and be done with the game. So, I'll wait for a sale anyway.
"Final Fantasy XVI" has yet to fully convince me. But there's a strong possibility that it will finally get me, big time. But I can wait, since "Tears of the Kingdom" and SF6 will entertain me until "Armored Core" releases.

Re: Best Action Games on PS4

Migoshuro

People really use every opportunity to vote "The Witcher III" in any ranking's top 5, even if it doesn't fit there at all. ^^ Next destination: Best real-time-strategy games. Number 4: "The Witcher III". The people have spoken.

Re: Mortal Kombat 1 Announced for PS5, Out 19th September

Migoshuro

Hmm, maybe I'm getting old, but I think I would like to see the series step down from the ridiculous, cartoonish violence. Blasphemy, I know. And I don't say it shouldn't be bloody violent, but maybe not this over-the-top. Because this trailer had made me really excited for the "Mortal Kombat"-World until all the splatter started, which kinda corrupted the atmosphere somewhat. I know the insane and creative kills are a staple of MK games and it's certainly not a deal breaker for me, just a quick thought about how I also could imagine the series.

Re: Wanted: Dead (PS5) - A Fascinating Mess of an Action Game

Migoshuro

Ah, man, I really hoped for this to turn out a sleeper hit of sorts and was ready to buy it full price. But the lack of different locations and enemies in pre-release footage as much as that there where no reviews to find until launch-day already have been good indicators that it will probably don't live up to my personal hype for it.
Too bad, since I'd love to support this kind of AA non-franchise revivals of of almost extinct genres. I'll grab it in a deep sale.

Re: PS Plus Premium Adds Two-Hour Tactics Ogre Game Trial

Migoshuro

@Bentleyma "Obviously"? Well, I'd say they're at least somewhat controversial, see other comments. I think their benefit depends highly on the type of game. Five hours for an open-world-game seem okay. But for "Rollerdrome" for instance the two-hour time limit was probably the worst version of a demo the game could have gotten and I'd go as far as to say, it was perhaps actually harmful for the sales of that game.
It also appears unfitting for a time-consuming, complex turn-based strategy-game. Why not take one or two missions out of the game and let them repeat infinitely?
Those trials are handled careless and dumb. It's like they are thinking that it would be enough to just add anything to the premium subscribtion, without ever reflecting if that "anything" makes any sense at all.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 461

Migoshuro

"Kena - Bridge of Spirits". Unpopular opinion, but I seriously can't stand the narration of that game and cringe through every cutscene. Other than that and some rather punishing difficulty spikes, it's exactly my cup of tea and I like it a lot.
Very excited to see what Ember Lab is cooking up next.

"Resident Evil 2 Remake", which seems great, but I can only play it an hour at a time or so, because it stresses me out.

Also, I was in the mood for a good pinball game. But modern examples are mostly too "realistic" for me. I find them extremely hard to follow. I need something more "videogamey" and found it in "Pinball Deluxe Reloaded". Normally, I avoid smartphone- and free-to-play-games like the plague (it's also on Steam FYI), but this is really solid. Easy to follow, but still with visual flavor, interesting tables, plays nicely and the monetization seems okay to me. Hope for a Switch-release, but will happily pay some bucks for it next month.

Re: Desperados 3 Dev Returns with Shadow Gambit: The Cursed Crew on PS5

Migoshuro

Loved "Shadow Tactics" and will definitely play "Desperados III" at some point. But this sadly does nothing for me. Would have liked the pirate setting. But this heavy focus on supernatural elements in addition to the exchangeable artstyle, which make it look like a million games out there, somehow kills my interest.
And they certainly should have swapped the amount of gameplay and cinematic in that trailer.

Re: Wanted: Dead Aims to Be Difficult, Like the Japanese Classics That Inspired It

Migoshuro

@Northern_munkey Hmm, I'd say, this kind of game is rather rare these days and the iconic examples are pretty old. So, if it's a quality game, for now, it's pure existence is special enough. Also, there are even less games that blend third-person-shooting with elaborate close quarter combat. So, "Wanted: Dead" comes off as somewhat unique in it's own right, in my opinion.

Re: Sword of the Vagrant Slices Its Way Towards 30th November Release on PS5, PS4

Migoshuro

@Abarth_71 Well, I don't know if you can call that sexist. But unless they have a good narrative reason (which I highly doubt) it's definitely dumb, looks dumb, makes me think the developers are dumb (or just seriously need to bang at least) and ultimately hampers the immersion, especially when they want to tell a gritty, emotional story, which seems to be the case here. I don't think it should be a sole reason to dismiss the game, though.
Hope, I could help you.

Re: Bet Against Rivals, Outrun the Cops in Need for Speed Unbound PS5 Gameplay Trailer

Migoshuro

I don't get the hype. Appears like a bog-standard racing game to me. And the stylistic elements look silly and distracting, the streets lifeless and empty.

I would love to have a cool fully cel-shaded arcade racer, but since I'm old, I mean an arcade racer in the vein of the pre-"Underground" "Need for Speeds". I will never get that, I know. But "Unbound" doesn't induce much excitent in me, yet.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 448

Migoshuro

Still mainly "Forbidden West", which becomes better gameplay-wise. There are even a few solid puzzles. Very appreciated.

Also, still "Radiant Silvergun" on Switch, which I love more and more each time I try to get a few centimeters farer in the game. Treasure really were a league of their own.

And I bought "Bayonetta" in a recent PSN sale, in anticipation of the third game. Never finished the original, only the second one, before I sold my Wii U. What can I say? It's "Bayonetta", so it freakin' rules. Still the most buttery smooth character action game series out there. Very excited for the third installment.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 447

Migoshuro

"Forbidden West" on PS5 is my main game, at the moment and I'm quite addicted. I'm not fond of every design decision, especially in terms of increased complexity (it adds depth in some places and creates unnecessary chores in others), but I still really like the gameplay and the grind.
And while I generally don't care much about the narration in videogames, the game just reached an early plot twist that threatens to crank the trash-factor up to a level that will be hard to swallow. But I'll see.

Also, I've just started "Radiant Silvergun" on Switch and that was love on first sight. It's tough as expected, but the weapon system is such a blast. I can already see this becoming one of my all-time favorite Shoot'em ups.

Additionally I plan on playing "Resident Evil 0". The style of the old-school-"Resis" is somehow both terrifying and calming. This will be my Halloween-game this year.

Re: Dead Cells' Lead Developer Goes Solo with Firefighting Adventure Nuclear Blaze

Migoshuro

Looks decent. I've always been excited about the idea of a fire fighting/rescue/natural disaster action game, even and especially in the triple-A space. Could make for dramatic story-telling, spectacular set-pieces, interesting mechanics and graphical show-off, without resorting to shooting people, but instead rescuing them and overcoming varied obstacles in the process.
I hope someday, someone will make such a game.

Re: Beyond Good & Evil 2 Just Found Its New Lead Writer

Migoshuro

@NEStalgia You're absolutely right. I'm usually not someone who falls for overly ambitious promises by developers/publishers. What I actually meant (but certainly didn't express) was, that I believe Michel Ancel probably would have been able to put at least a core of this very great vision into the final experience, to deliver a really special game, even without reaching all their initial goals. Does that make sense?

Re: Beyond Good & Evil 2 Just Found Its New Lead Writer

Migoshuro

I'm hipster enough to call the first "Beyond Good & Evil" one of my all-time favorites. But I lost most hope that the sequel will become anything special as soon as Michel Ancel left the project. Maybe he wasn't the best leader, but he was a great game designer and the one with the vision.
Hiring a new lead writer seems to indicate Ubi is still serious about releasing this. I think at best it will turn out a decent action-adventure in space with nice art, but not nearly as ambitious, open and immersive as the game they re-announced back in 2017.

Re: Sucker Punch Staffing Up for What Sounds Like Ghost of Tsushima 2

Migoshuro

I love Sucker Punch ever since the first "inFamous". (a trilogy-remaster would be great) They have proven several times, that they can and will deliver DLCs and sequels that keep intact what made the original great, while still providing cool twists and ideas to make them feel fresh and interesting.
"Ghost of Tsushima" is fantastic, although I haven't finished it, yet. I strongly assume that for the inevitable sequel they will go for a different location, a different conflict and a different main character within the feudal Japan setting and call it "Ghost of [New Place]".
The most important things I wish for is firstly a more realistic simulation of the game world. Besides many repeated assets, I also witnessed things like people sweeping the floor next to bloody corpses, which hampered the immersion a bit.
And secondly, food. Seriously, food is such an important aspect of the culture of many Asian countries, like Japan. You will for example have a hard time finding an Asian movie that doesn't contain at least one scene where people eat in company. Seems like an outlandish complaint, but I really found the lack of food in a game that wants to represent historical Japanese culture to a somewhat authentic degree very apparent.
Still, these are no game breakers, of course.
Also, I could imagine they'll make the "Ghost"/"Samurai"-separation even more distinct, maybe with individual skills, weapons and gadgets and on the "Ghost"-path becoming a straight-up Ninja.

Re: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder's Revenge (PS4) - Brilliant Beat-'Em-Up Is Best in Co-Op

Migoshuro

@Anke Thanks for the reply. Yeah, I made that assumption because Anke is a common female name here in Germany and we've been relatively strict with youth protection measurements in media, especially back in the 80s and 90s. So, I presumed that the name changing was solely a German thing.
But a quick Wikipedia research showed that it was actually a decision made in the UK and has then been adapted in the rest of Europe.
I've also been a huge TMHT-fan in my childhood. Enjoy the new game!

Re: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder's Revenge (PS4) - Brilliant Beat-'Em-Up Is Best in Co-Op

Migoshuro

@Anke Your name suggests that with "here" you mean Germany? As far as I can recall, that was the only country that changed the original name, because "Ninja" sounded too violent for a kids show. But since Germany got a lot more "relaxed" about such topics over the last two decades or so and we consume a lot more English-language media, I guess it would be considered somewhat weird to stick to that old naming.

Re: Wanted: Dead Brings Daft Character Action to PS5, PS4

Migoshuro

Niiiiiice! The tone... Yeah, well, that's something you have to go with oftentimes, especially in these style of games. I really like that they mix melee combat with third-person-shooting. That should be done more often. I also appreciate the somewhat contemporary or at least seemingly not too far in the future urban setting and playing as a badass woman.
Don't care if the production value is not triple-A, as long as the game runs smoothly, plays well, has a deep combat system and a solid art-direction.
One of the best announcements this year, for me. I'm pretty excited.

Re: Ghost of Tsushima Dev Is Moving on After Two Years of Updates

Migoshuro

Haven't finished "Ghost of Tsushima", yet (Love it and take my time with it.), but I'm pretty confident that their next game will be a successor to it. That's how SP has handled it in the past and that's the way it's done today, even for Sony (unless you are "Days Gone").
One thing, why I love Sucker Punch is, because they try something new even within a franchise with their sequels and DLCs.
I assume they will change the hero and at least the region and therefore call it "Ghost of [New Region]", but keep the time-period, gameplay-foundation and open-world structure intact. There was a woman in an early side-mission in GoT who wants to become a Samurai, but isn't allowed to. I don't know if she shows up ever again later in the game, but I always saw this as a great subtle introduction for the main protagonist of a possible sequel. Maybe Sucker Punch pushes that whole conflict between honorable, offensive fighting Samurai and silent, stealthy assassin even further by giving you dedicated skills and/or weapons and gadgets you have to choose and you can not only become a Samurai but alternatively a real Ninja.
I don't know. My imagination goes of the rails, but I think their is a lot of potential for a second game, when you don't think of a typical continuation of the story. I want to see new countrysides, maybe big cities. And please add food! What is the depiction of Japan (or East Asia in general) without showing some awesome food and people eating in company?

Re: Ghost of Tsushima Movie Finds Screenwriter in Takashi Doscher

Migoshuro

This is one of the few games where I consider a movie adaptation as almost impossible to ***** up, when made with the right dedication and money. The story could work exceptionally well as a film. It's simple and straightforward and you could leave out some of the subplots without harming the main narration. Real locations, an A-class cinematographer and as little cgi as possible. And with Stahelski at the helm, I'm really optimistic that the action will absolutely deliver. That's it.
(Oh, and there should be an alternative black and white version, of course.)

They will ***** it up anyway.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 420

Migoshuro

I finally have a PC that can properly run "Anno 1800". So that will be my main endeavor. My dumb console-action-gamer-brain isn't used to such cognitive demanding strategy-titles anymore and I have a hard time to even process all the information on screen. But I'm quite motivated and enjoy the change in program.
I counter that with "Guardians of the Galaxy", which is exactly the stuff I normally play.

Re: Horizon Forbidden West's Huge PS5, PS4 Skill Tree Spans Traps, Stealth, More

Migoshuro

@TheArt I don't know. Not every game series should go the open-world-route. Naughty Dog has to drastically change their game-design-conventions to make a good open-world-game. Those parts where easily the most boring in all three mentioned games, with "The Lost Legacy" being the best in that regard, if you ask me. They design good smaller sandboxes for their core-gameplay, especially in both "The Last of Us"-games, but open-world? That's a different thing.

Re: Rumour: PS1 JRPG Chrono Cross Really Is Getting a Remaster

Migoshuro

@MFTWrecks Yeah! That is REALLY misleading. My fault that I missed the "rumour"-part in the headline. But what makes one so sure it is "really" happening, when it's still a rumour?

Anyway, I would celebrate even a (well done) remaster, even more so with it's predecessor packed in as a "Collection of Chrono".

Re: Poll: Rate Your Favourite PS3 Games

Migoshuro

Ahh, a lot of good memories here. I worked as a game reviewer back then and probably never played as much as in that era, mostly PS3, but also a lot on Wii, DS and older games on PC.

So, this is my personal top 13:

1. Mass Effect (I know it's not a good port and I was pretty late to the party. But this is my favorite game of all time and it became it through this version. That's how much I love it.)
2. Mass Effect 2 (Yeah, I'm one of those weirdos, who thinks the first one is better.)
3. Tomb Raider (Right, the reboot. Bite me! I love it.)
4. Super Street Fighter IV
5. Rayman Legends
6. The Last of Us
7. inFamous
8. Batman - Arkham Asylum
9. Max Payne 3
10. Dishonored
11. Limbo
12. Sleeping Dogs

Have a nice day, everyone!
