Re: Sony Returns to PlayStation Exclusivity and Stops Single Player PC Ports, New Report Says

MKD88

It's a smart business move. Even I was planning to buy a gaming PC for next Gen and not get the new PlayStation in spite of having every single PlayStation console still hooked up and having hundreds of physical games throughout all system.

Most of my friends that still game got gaming PCs and got rid of their PS5s or they're collecting dust.

Now I'll probably get the new PlayStation system. Also, hope they start coming out with more single player games. Because there have not been many this generation.

The PC crowd is crying and moaning about this but it makes total sense from Sony's point of view. They diluted their brand and now they're reigning it in.

Re: Physical Game Sales Hit All-Time Low in the US

MKD88

It's sad really because I've been getting such good deals on physical PS5 games. Just this past month I was able to get Monster Hunter Wilds for $12, Star Wars Outlaws for $8, Assassin's Creed Shadows for $10, Daemon X Machina for $20... All brand new by the way.

The only game above that's dropped below $30 digitally is Star Wars. Next Gen for sure I'm switching to PC. Digital deals are much better on PC. Sony has terrible digital sales.

Re: Mobile App Addictions Are Quickly Becoming a Serious Threat to Video Games, Report Claims

MKD88

Very interesting report, thanks for sharing this. It's more than just mobile apps taking away from gaming, seems like the whole industry is in trouble.

I think it can also be extrapolated to society as a whole. We're being too stimulated by external sources. Too many external things shrinking our concentration and attention span. I've noticed it in myself and definitely noticed it in the younger generation. That's why anxiety and all these other psychological issues keep rising each year. Here in the US, there was a study that said anxiety has doubled in young adults, in just the last 10 years. Over 40% people feel more anxious each year than the previous.

It's something that's affecting everyone to some degree and this report kinda shows it by the trends it's referring to.

Re: Saros Succumbs to the Pay Extra to Play Early Trend

MKD88

And here I am, will pay $20-$30 and play it a year or two down the road. Plus with all the quality of life updates. I see absolutely no reason to buy any game day 1 unless it's multiplayer specific.

I can see if you're in grade school and university buying single player games day 1 so you can keep up with the trends and with buddies but really no reason at all to buy any game day 1.

Re: These PS2, PSP, and PS Vita Games Managed to Sell 1 New Copy in 2025

MKD88

It's good to see people still buying retro games. I just beat Armored Core 2 on the PS2 a few days ago. It took me some time to get used to the controls but by the end, it was second nature. About 15-20 hrs to 100% everything. It was the perfect amount of time. Nowadays, to 100% new games takes like 80+ hours and I get bored about 30 hrs in.

Re: Before It Imploded, WB Games Was Reportedly Working on a Crossover Kart Racer

MKD88

No thanks, the idea sounds great on paper but it's WB. It would have been riddled with bs live service junk. Even Mortal Kombat 1 which I love playing is riddled with live service junk. They have 3 different currencies, lots of skins locked behind a paywall and a lot of dumb mindless and time limited grind for other stuff. All designated to give people fomo. I'll say it again, no thanks.

Re: PS2, the Most Popular Console Ever, Celebrates Its 25th Anniversary

MKD88

Still play my PS2 along with my PS5 and sometimes my Switch. Also just found a CTR TV for free. Hooked it up to my PS2 and it's just simple nostalgic fun.

Depending on the PS2 games, they could take anywhere from a few hours to 20 hrs to beat and even fully complete. Some RPGs are over 40 hrs.

Whereas now, the standard game takes 30 hrs to beat at an almost minimum (AAA titles anyway) plus if you like doing all the side quests and other stuff, could take 80-120hrs total! PS2 games just respect your time so much.

At first it's always weird playing an old game after playing Stellar Blade or Gran Turismo 7 on a PS5 pro. But an hour in, you forget the graphical differences, you get used to the janky controls, and it's just pure fun.

Re: Physical Media Just Can't Catch a Break Right Now

MKD88

I'm not sure how it was for other regions but in the US, this Black Friday showed that it's just way cheaper to buy physical for newer games. About 80% of the new games I've purchased are physical because they are just cheaper.

Silent Hill: $30 physical / $56 digital
Stellar Blade: $40 / $50
DBZ Sparking Zero: $50 / $70
Rise of the Ronin: $30 / $40
Disney Epic Mickey Rebrushed: $30 / $42
Spiderman 2: $30 / $40
Sonic X Shadow: $30 / $38
SMT V Vengeance: $25 / $42
Persona 3 Reload: $25 / $35
Like a Dragon IW: $25 / $35
Gran Turismo (PS5): $20 / $30
Avatar: $20 / $31.50
Armored Core: $20 / $36
Hogwarts Legacy: $20 / $30

Honestly almost all games released within the last 2 years have been cheaper physically consistently. Not sure how anyone can argue digital is cheaper unless we're talking about games that were released many years ago.

Re: Fans Appear to Be Coming Around to PS5 Pro

MKD88

When I see stuff like this, I'm always reminded of the towel experiment that Robert Chialdini and Noah Goldstein did. Back in the mid-2000s (before COVID and hotels cleaning your rooms less and less often) they teamed up with an undisclosed national hotel chain to see if they could alter the towel reusage rate of guests.

They tried 2 different methods. The first one was to write an environmental message with the towels. Like reusing the towels conserves water and energy and is an environmentally conscious choice.

The second was to write a social norms message saying that the majority of guests that stay in our hotels, reuse their towels.

They found that the environmental message led to about 35% towel reusage among guests. The social norms message led to about 45% towel reusage, meaning that people were more likely to follow a behavior that they believe others are doing aka social proof.

Similar experiment was done by the Opower company which works with multiple utility companies to give customers feedback on energy usage. When they informed customers that they were using more energy than their neighbors, the customers were more likely to decrease their energy consumption. The result was even bigger when they used things like emojis (smiley face, neutral, sad, etc.)

I've noticed this rampant in the gaming community. But it's our human nature in general. People just jump on bandwagons. They hate on something just because others are hating on it without experiencing it first hand. (Concord for example). Then they love something because others are loving it, they want social proof. It's just human nature. That's why we're so easily swayed to one side or the other.

Re: Lords of the Fallen 2 Is In Development, Targeting a 2026 Release on PS5

MKD88

I never had any issues with the performance on PS5. I play solely on performance mode. It ran perfectly smooth for me. Maybe a few drops in FPS in high traffic areas but otherwise totally perfect. Never tried graphics mode. Not sure why anyone would when these games require percise movement. Honestly enjoyed it more than Elden Ring and I platinumed both.

Re: Next Free Lords of the Fallen Update Turns the PS5 Game into a Roguelite

MKD88

Platinumed it as I've platinumed almost all Souls game. Honestly it was a great game. I played only on Performance mode and I never had a single issue. Not sure how anyone can play these very action oriented games in Graphics mode over Performance mode.

Enjoyed it more than Elden Ring if I'm being honest. I loved Elden Ring's open world but the game was just way too easy because of it.

One feature that I absolutely love in this game is that you can recolor your armor, allowing you to mix and match without it looking goofy. Fashion Souls to the max! I'm going to jump in again and do a playthrough.

Re: 2,000 More PS5, PS4 Deals Join PS Store's Already Gargantuan January Sale

MKD88

Honestly sometimes I want the digital games because I don't have room for cases in my apartment but a lot of times the newer games are just so much cheaper physically.

I don't know about you guys in Europe but I've been getting extremely lucky finding cheap physical games in the US. I got Wo Long for $30 about a month after release. I got Lords of the Fallen, Lies of P, Armored Core, Final Fantasy XVI for also about $30 each. I got Street Fighter the collector's edition for $40. I just got Need For Speed Unbound for $5 on clearance the other day... There is really no point for me to buy digital because they're always cheaper physical before digital.

Re: MultiVersus Daily Peak Player Count Down 99% Since Launch

MKD88

I'm hoping developers and publisher are finally seeing that these live service games are not always the way to go. Everybody is looking for that 1 hit wonder to make that easy $$$ but the market is oversaturated with them and usually older guys like me don't care at all for them.

I love Smash. I was excited for this. I played maybe 2 hours when it came out and realized the grind you'd have to do to unlock stuff and I said no thanks. I'd rather pay $60/70 and unlock the old school way. I just played Smash yesterday and it wasn't even online. I did a mini tourney by myself with the comps and then messed around with all the game modes, seeing my spirit collection and whatnot. You could never do that in MultiVersus.

Re: 20 More PS Plus Extra, Premium Games Available Now on PS5, PS4

MKD88

Please Sony find a way for to emulate and download the PS3 games on the PS5 without streaming. There is always a slight input lag when streaming and as a long time gamer, I hate input lag more than anything else. I have my ethernet cable plugged into my PS5 and I have speeds of up to 800mbps and it's still there.

Re: PS Plus Extra, Premium Games for October 2022 Are Available Now on PS5, PS4

MKD88

Dragon Quest XI is probably one of the best RPGs I have played. Those who like RPGs should definitely give it a try. Although it's a very long game so be aware.

It took me like 2 years to beat. I would play for a month or so and then I'd take a break and I would keep doing that. It's good that it has a preview of past events when you start the game up to remind you of what happened. Overall, an incredible RPG and I don't really like playing RPGs that much anymore.

Re: PS Plus Premium's Logic Doesn't Even Make Sense to Sony

MKD88

Honestly, I have premium and it's a total waste. Not resubbing to premium again. If I could download and play the PS3 games then it might be worth it because I hate streaming. Even with an extremely fast internet, there is always a noticable input lag.

Re: Destroy All Humans! 2: Reprobed (PS5) - We're Just Remaking Anything Now

MKD88

@johncalmc You're totally right, a 4 should be below average with 5 being average. Most other sites have primed us to belive that a 4 is almost unplayable. Either way, I was not interested in this game nor had I ever played the originals. I was just curious. You guys at PushSquare tends to have good reviews that agree with my tastes.

Re: Fans Lament GTA Trilogy PS5, PS4 Secrecy

MKD88

I love these games and I replay them regularly. I platinumed them (except Vice City with the BS Godfather ranking trophy). I would love to play them with upgraded graphics. However, I am not buying them day one. They haven't shown anything. I don't trust Rockstar like I did back in the day. I'm happy with the PS2 versions anyway. The controls you can get used to after an hour of playing.

Re: PES Picks Up Exclusive License to Serie A Side Atalanta

MKD88

As a person who plays both, in terms of actual gameplay PES is miles ahead of FIFA. The only reason I have FIFA is to play with casual friends who want to play with licenced teams. PES is just so much more fluid and the game is not so scripted like FIFA games. Plus the tactics in PES actual make a difference, FIFA they don't. They really put a lot of work into the PES games, way more than FIFA has these past 5 years.
