Only if they keep the difficulty of the original. The old Musou games had a certain difficulty to them. Peons can wreck you if you charge alone and get surrounded. Plus those archers, man they used to give me nightmares.
If they make it like the last one or any that came after the PS2, then forget it. Don't bother remaking them.
No thanks, the idea sounds great on paper but it's WB. It would have been riddled with bs live service junk. Even Mortal Kombat 1 which I love playing is riddled with live service junk. They have 3 different currencies, lots of skins locked behind a paywall and a lot of dumb mindless and time limited grind for other stuff. All designated to give people fomo. I'll say it again, no thanks.
Still play my PS2 along with my PS5 and sometimes my Switch. Also just found a CTR TV for free. Hooked it up to my PS2 and it's just simple nostalgic fun.
Depending on the PS2 games, they could take anywhere from a few hours to 20 hrs to beat and even fully complete. Some RPGs are over 40 hrs.
Whereas now, the standard game takes 30 hrs to beat at an almost minimum (AAA titles anyway) plus if you like doing all the side quests and other stuff, could take 80-120hrs total! PS2 games just respect your time so much.
At first it's always weird playing an old game after playing Stellar Blade or Gran Turismo 7 on a PS5 pro. But an hour in, you forget the graphical differences, you get used to the janky controls, and it's just pure fun.
It's nothing special but it's a fun game if you like side scrolling beat em ups. The soundtrack is great. If only they made the rangers slightly different from one another. They all feel the same.
I was just playing these on my modded PS Classic. The controls are difficult to get used to in this day and age. Hopefully they update those. If not, it'll take about an hour or 2 before you get comfortable with the controls.
I'm not sure how it was for other regions but in the US, this Black Friday showed that it's just way cheaper to buy physical for newer games. About 80% of the new games I've purchased are physical because they are just cheaper.
Silent Hill: $30 physical / $56 digital
Stellar Blade: $40 / $50
DBZ Sparking Zero: $50 / $70
Rise of the Ronin: $30 / $40
Disney Epic Mickey Rebrushed: $30 / $42
Spiderman 2: $30 / $40
Sonic X Shadow: $30 / $38
SMT V Vengeance: $25 / $42
Persona 3 Reload: $25 / $35
Like a Dragon IW: $25 / $35
Gran Turismo (PS5): $20 / $30
Avatar: $20 / $31.50
Armored Core: $20 / $36
Hogwarts Legacy: $20 / $30
Honestly almost all games released within the last 2 years have been cheaper physically consistently. Not sure how anyone can argue digital is cheaper unless we're talking about games that were released many years ago.
There's is definitely some difference but not by much. I don't think this will sway anybody to buy it who originally didn't want to get it. But for those who are already determined to get it, it's a nice little perk.
When I see stuff like this, I'm always reminded of the towel experiment that Robert Chialdini and Noah Goldstein did. Back in the mid-2000s (before COVID and hotels cleaning your rooms less and less often) they teamed up with an undisclosed national hotel chain to see if they could alter the towel reusage rate of guests.
They tried 2 different methods. The first one was to write an environmental message with the towels. Like reusing the towels conserves water and energy and is an environmentally conscious choice.
The second was to write a social norms message saying that the majority of guests that stay in our hotels, reuse their towels.
They found that the environmental message led to about 35% towel reusage among guests. The social norms message led to about 45% towel reusage, meaning that people were more likely to follow a behavior that they believe others are doing aka social proof.
Similar experiment was done by the Opower company which works with multiple utility companies to give customers feedback on energy usage. When they informed customers that they were using more energy than their neighbors, the customers were more likely to decrease their energy consumption. The result was even bigger when they used things like emojis (smiley face, neutral, sad, etc.)
I've noticed this rampant in the gaming community. But it's our human nature in general. People just jump on bandwagons. They hate on something just because others are hating on it without experiencing it first hand. (Concord for example). Then they love something because others are loving it, they want social proof. It's just human nature. That's why we're so easily swayed to one side or the other.
Just purchased a copy 2 weeks ago for my PS2... always happens like that. Still haven't started it but am looking forward to playing it for the first time. I've played all entries except this one.
I never had any issues with the performance on PS5. I play solely on performance mode. It ran perfectly smooth for me. Maybe a few drops in FPS in high traffic areas but otherwise totally perfect. Never tried graphics mode. Not sure why anyone would when these games require percise movement. Honestly enjoyed it more than Elden Ring and I platinumed both.
Platinumed it as I've platinumed almost all Souls game. Honestly it was a great game. I played only on Performance mode and I never had a single issue. Not sure how anyone can play these very action oriented games in Graphics mode over Performance mode.
Enjoyed it more than Elden Ring if I'm being honest. I loved Elden Ring's open world but the game was just way too easy because of it.
One feature that I absolutely love in this game is that you can recolor your armor, allowing you to mix and match without it looking goofy. Fashion Souls to the max! I'm going to jump in again and do a playthrough.
No point in this event anyway or playing atm. I waited 30 min to get into the game, did 3 missions, and never received any rewards for any of the missions.
@Generiko1999 I actually got Tales of Arise for $5 along with Tiny Tina for $5 and Strangers of Paradise for $10. I have so many games that I got on the cheap but haven't even played those yet.
Honestly sometimes I want the digital games because I don't have room for cases in my apartment but a lot of times the newer games are just so much cheaper physically.
I don't know about you guys in Europe but I've been getting extremely lucky finding cheap physical games in the US. I got Wo Long for $30 about a month after release. I got Lords of the Fallen, Lies of P, Armored Core, Final Fantasy XVI for also about $30 each. I got Street Fighter the collector's edition for $40. I just got Need For Speed Unbound for $5 on clearance the other day... There is really no point for me to buy digital because they're always cheaper physical before digital.
I really wish they would stick to Mortal Kombat characters. There are so many cool characters to include from the franchise instead of watering it down with guest characters.
The same thing happened with the last Mortal Kombat. Terminator, Rambo, and RoboCop, as much as I love these characters, played/looked pretty similar to each other.
I'm playing through Wo Long right now, about to beat the story. I'm having so much fun with this. If you love action games, this game is brilliant. So far it's been my favorite game of 2022/2023 and there were so many good games released in that timeline.
I'm hoping developers and publisher are finally seeing that these live service games are not always the way to go. Everybody is looking for that 1 hit wonder to make that easy $$$ but the market is oversaturated with them and usually older guys like me don't care at all for them.
I love Smash. I was excited for this. I played maybe 2 hours when it came out and realized the grind you'd have to do to unlock stuff and I said no thanks. I'd rather pay $60/70 and unlock the old school way. I just played Smash yesterday and it wasn't even online. I did a mini tourney by myself with the comps and then messed around with all the game modes, seeing my spirit collection and whatnot. You could never do that in MultiVersus.
Please Sony find a way for to emulate and download the PS3 games on the PS5 without streaming. There is always a slight input lag when streaming and as a long time gamer, I hate input lag more than anything else. I have my ethernet cable plugged into my PS5 and I have speeds of up to 800mbps and it's still there.
Dragon Quest XI is probably one of the best RPGs I have played. Those who like RPGs should definitely give it a try. Although it's a very long game so be aware.
It took me like 2 years to beat. I would play for a month or so and then I'd take a break and I would keep doing that. It's good that it has a preview of past events when you start the game up to remind you of what happened. Overall, an incredible RPG and I don't really like playing RPGs that much anymore.
Honestly, I have premium and it's a total waste. Not resubbing to premium again. If I could download and play the PS3 games then it might be worth it because I hate streaming. Even with an extremely fast internet, there is always a noticable input lag.
@johncalmc You're totally right, a 4 should be below average with 5 being average. Most other sites have primed us to belive that a 4 is almost unplayable. Either way, I was not interested in this game nor had I ever played the originals. I was just curious. You guys at PushSquare tends to have good reviews that agree with my tastes.
Seems like a pretty harsh review score, judging by the scores received from other outlets. Of course people have different tastes and you won't please everyone. The way scores are setup nowadays, a 4 means almost unplayable which doesn't seem to be the case here.
I'm curious how Sony will respond to this. I could care less myself about Call of Duty, but this doesn't bode well for the PlayStation brand. At this point Microsoft should just buy off Nintendo and Sony and have a monopoly on the gaming industry.
I love these games and I replay them regularly. I platinumed them (except Vice City with the BS Godfather ranking trophy). I would love to play them with upgraded graphics. However, I am not buying them day one. They haven't shown anything. I don't trust Rockstar like I did back in the day. I'm happy with the PS2 versions anyway. The controls you can get used to after an hour of playing.
I'm hoping they rerelease Persona 3 and 4 on the PS4/PS5. Persona 4 is already on PC, should be easy to port. I was just playing Persona 3 FES on my PS2 the other day at my parents' house. It's such a good game but I don't need another console in my apartment. I'd rebuy it again in a heartbeat.
As a person who plays both, in terms of actual gameplay PES is miles ahead of FIFA. The only reason I have FIFA is to play with casual friends who want to play with licenced teams. PES is just so much more fluid and the game is not so scripted like FIFA games. Plus the tactics in PES actual make a difference, FIFA they don't. They really put a lot of work into the PES games, way more than FIFA has these past 5 years.
Can't wait! What a wonderful series EDF is. I can't believe I just discovered it a few months ago. Everyone that has played it split-screen with me has loved it. Word needs to get out about this series now more than ever!

I got plenty of games to play and now since I'm unemployed thanks to cancer and chemo, I can catch up on some and hopefully get this when it's on sale. I don't justify paying full price for this ATM.
Thanks to the $1 PS Now deal, I tried EDF 4.1. I loved it so much that I got EDF 5 a few days ago when it was on sale. I didn't even know these games existed until now. They are so fun and addicting. Even my girlfriend who doesn't play any games wants to play with me... Can't wait for this one!
