@Fiendish-Beaver I'd add the fact it was a shadow drop to that list. Publishers need to realise that the majority of gamers don't sit and watch the shows that they are announced on. They're effectively releasing a major title with no prior warning or advertisement and expecting to to be a major hit somehow.
@heavyartillery56 of course they are allowed to negotiate with anyone they want. But that's not exactly what they did, they just slapped tariffs on the rest of the world and everyone has to feel the force of it until countries are able to negotiate deals after the damage has already been done.
@Nowings That's a myth that I have no idea where it came from, there has been multiple early access games on PS before and the state of pally tonight even announced one too.
@Oram77 Sadly that's true, all giving artificially low scores does is completely devalue the whole review process. This also applies for cases where fanboys give 10s for games just because of who made them too.
@Yagami That's where PC gamers are really crossing into serious pettiness for me. If you're not happy with the PSN requirements then fair enough just don't buy the game and vote with your wallet. But to go to the trouble of buying the game just to leave a negative review and then refund is just childish. It's a practice that I hope that Steam does something to clamp down on.
@Pranwell A friend of mine used to regularly charge his PS4 controllers using his phone charger and he would regularly get issues with his controller dieing and nothing he could do would bring it back to life. I told him to just charge them through the console and he's never had a problem since.
My bigger complaint with PS stars is that it doesn't seem to reward you for a campaign to pre-order or buy a game if you have already completed the purchase before the campaign was made available. I've missed out on a number of rewards purely because I had already bought what it was asking me to buy.
@Intr1n5ic I'm not any less likely to buy either Xbox model if I have no idea what their plans are. Given Phil's recent interview and the Indiana Jones announcement they are giving the impression that basically nothing is off the table. At least if I knew that games that meet a certain criteria may come to PS5 at a later date and then other games that don't meet the criteria will remain exclusive to Xbox on console then I may consider buying one if a game i want to play that will remain exclusive is announced. At the moment there's nothing to persuade me to buy an Xbox based off what they are currently saying.
@cburg Did you even read the article? It's not saying the owe anybody anything. It's talking about the damage they are doing to their own brand with all the uncertainty.
There seems to be a real desire for this game to fail from the Playstation community and I really don't understand why. It may not be your type of game and that's fair enough, just ignore it and carry on but to actively want the game to fail is unheard of. Any success the game does have van be invested back into development of other games and benefits all PlayStation gamers, I just don't understand why people are so desperate to see Concord fail.
@ShadowofSparta I've wondered this too as I've seen a few people complain about it being 'woke'. My only assumption is it's because it has pronouns in the character profiles as I didn't really see anything else during the beta.
@itsfoz I love Sony's single player games as much as anyone and wouldn't want them to stop making them. But I honestly don't get why people seem to grudge them from trying to have a successful online first person shooter. It's something that has been missing from their portfolio for too long now. Do I think Concord will be it? I'm not sure, but I'm willing to give it a chance rather than instantly dismiss it.
I played it quite a lot over the weekend and really quite enjoyed it. It's a good solid shooter, however I feel that it doesn't really do anything different from anything that's already out there that will make it stand out and appeal to the masses so I fear for it's long term future. I do think it would benefit from being added to PS Plus a few months down the line.
Bearing in mind that the pre-order gave people an additional four beta codes to pass out that really doesn't sound too promising for pre-orders. Hopefully opening it up will encourage more people to try it out.
@Drago201 Both will get blamed from different circles, Xbox, and specifically Series S users will blame Warhorse and say they are just lazy Devs. Whereas non Xbox fans will say the Series S is holding this generation back.
I thought it was decent but nothing spectacular, apart from Astrobot. Given that it was mainly focused on 2024 releases and we already knew that there would be no major first party franchise releases in 2024 then there was never going to be much first party wise. It was nice to get release dates for some games though, with some being sooner than I was expecting.
@TJ81 The thing is there are many people out there that just play CoD and not much more. It doesn't make sense to pay over double the price to play the game for "free" as part of game pass over the course of a year, rather than just buying it outright so I don't expect there will be as big an increase in subscribers as you may expect.
@GamingFan4Lyf As much as I would be in favour or paid online being scrapped altogether, from a business sense it could cause a massive hit to revenue. Not only would they take a hit on basically game pass core being redundant, they would also potentially lose out on customers that sign up to ultimate because they already have to pay for core for the online and don't mind paying a little bit extra for ultimate. I have PS Plus Premium because I don't mind paying the difference between Essential and Premium but if I was no longer required to sign up for PS Plus for online then I'm not really sure if I'd continue to pay for premium and a reduction in the sub price would certainly be expected to compensate for the paid online no longer being required, which would also massively affect revenue figures.
@Sifi I doubt there are many people that are signing up to PS Plus specifically for such an insignificant feature as cloud saves. The only real use I can see for them is transferring saves to a new console and if you need to do that you could simply just sign up for one month to upload and download your saves to the new console.
@Godot25 There's less than a million units in it between PS5 and PS4 at the same stage in their lifecycle, that's why people are saying it could have sold the same if not for the stock issues. The key would is it could have, not that it would have. But given it's very close it's definitely a possibility. Are the Series consoles sales anywhere near the same ballpark as Xbox One sales were at the same stage? It they were then, yes, you could say the same thing. But if they are significantly lower then it would be quite a stretch.
@Godot25 I'm going to assume that no one really uses that argument for series s|X consoles because for a considerable period of time you could go on Amazon and buy a series S or X console pretty easily while PS5 was still hard to come by, and even then it didn't really seem to boost the series console sales.
@HonestHick Apologies if I'm missing something but the chart you linked appears to be daily/monthly active users and not sales. But the key thing really is it doesn't differentiate whether it's the paid for annual release, or the free to play warzone and appears to be anything Call of Duty all on one chart so it doesn't really give any indication on sales of the premium release, or any sort of figures on how much revenue is being made on each platform.
@Yorozayu I probably should have said in my original reply that I don't actually think this is some sort of Sony mandated censorship but was just theorising as to the reasoning why there would be a difference if it was to be. I completely agree that using TLOU part 2 as an example doesn't make sense that it was a Sony decision, in addition to the sex scenes there is also a lot of very realistic brutality in TLOU part 2 that wouldn't make sense that Sony would mandate censorship a bit of blood. My character in Helldivers 2 looks like he is covered in strawberry jam after a game so they don't seem to have much issues with a bit of blood.
@Yorozayu My guess would be that Stellar Blade is a Sony published game so is more directly associated with them. The other two games are fully third party so may not be held to the same standard internally. The good thing is it doesn't seem like all the censorship controversy doesn't seem to have harmed the game sales wise, and may have even given it a slight boost. Although I wonder if the sales of the physical version will be a bit higher than usual lol.
As for reverting the changes, I quite like the design on the new version so would prefer that they add the original design back in so that there is a choice between the two designs rather than just change it back.
Glad to see it being so well received despite all the controversy about censorship. I've been really enjoying it and I'm looking forward to playing more of it.
@Xbox_Dashboard If you were buying a steam deck as a portable PS5 you would be sorely disappointed. Most of the recent PlayStation releases on PC are either unsupported or unverified for steam deck.
This was always to be expected. At some point they will have had to assess what they were paying out for games to be included on subscription services and assess whether they were getting sufficiently return on their investment and then make reasonable adjustments. I wouldn't be surprised if the same will apply to securing bigger budget third party games also.
The part about creators having to manage multiple instances of games and it being an opportunity for them makes it sound to me like they want Xbox to be the only platform available. The whole thing reads like a mission statement to buy up the whole industry.
@GilberTilbert How many subscribers it had doesn't change history, it still came first and as I said before it was rebranded and merged with PS Plus to create the tiers we have now. Big corporations copy off each other all the time, MS and Sony have both taken ideas from each other many times before and will do again. There's absolutely nothing wrong with that. If one hits on an idea that proves popular the other would be silly not to look to do something similar, or even try and improve on it. If it's within their capabilities that is.
@GilberTilbert Actually it was MS that copied Sony with the sub service as PS Now predated game pass. MS just tweaked it and included first party games on release. Sony then merged PS Plus with PS now and added in extra tiers, which funnily enough MS also copied by recently merging game pass and Live.
He knows exactly who it benefits, and more importantly why it benefits them. It's the same reason why they are only porting four carefully selected games and not their big hitters. He's just trying to deflect and make make Sony look like the bad ones
@AhmadSumadi This particular complaint is due to Microsoft giving assurances that ABK would still operate independently of MS after the acquisition, which would mean that those jobs would still be required.
