The Sonic Central broadcast didn't contain too much in the way of new games, but what is exciting is the promise of a new retro collection. Sonic Origins is pencilled in to release next year, and contains all the Genesis Mega Drive classic platformers you'd expect — and that finally includes a constant absentee.

The collection will contain Sonic 1, 2, 3, Sonic & Knuckles, and Sonic CD. Sonic 3 has famously been left out of products like this in the past, likely due to licensing disputes over the game's music. However, SEGA has made it happen for Sonic Origins, meaning you can play the complete adventure in one package.

No platforms have been announced, but it's probably safe to assume it'll show up on PlayStation 5 and/or PS4. We're promised more details soon, which hopefully means a proper release date. Are you excited for Sonic Origins? Tell us in the comments section below.
