Re: Assassin's Creed Shadows Reveal Trailer Is Already the Most Disliked in Series History

GagaOooLaLa

@TruestoryYep AC is a much bigger franchise though with more mainstream appeal. Nioh is small fry compared to AC. If anyone cared enough about Nioh, I’m sure there would have been more backlash. But most people don’t care about Nioh - probably never even heard of it.

Just did a quick Google search and the combined lifetime sales of both Nioh games is 7 million. AC Valhalla alone probably sold three times as many copies, so you can’t really compare an A-list franchise to a D-list franchise (in terms of popularity).

AC fans have waited years for Japanese AC and a black Samurai is probably the last thing anyone expected or wanted. Hence the backlash.

Re: Assassin's Creed Shadows Dated for 15th November in First Trailer

I was hoping for an East Asian male and female lead so I am a little disappointed. Yasuke would have been a good side character or DLC.

I can’t be too mad though. AC games have never been about realism. They’ve always been heavily sanitised/fantasy versions of historical periods. It’s why they’re so popular and completely forgettable.

@BadPlayerOne “The only ones complaining are gamers and hardcore conservatives that hate anything related to lhbtq+.”

Speaking as an individual letter of that group, that excuse is wearing thin even for me. I’m sure there are people writing-off the show for that very reason but to dismiss any and all criticism is infuriating and a little insulting tbh. We deserve more than being used as a tool to create controversy or as a shield against criticism of any kind.

Re: First-Person Fortnite Could Be Coming to PS5, PS4 Next Season

@Gamer_Guy it might not be as insanely popular as it was in those early days - though it’s still fairly popular even now. But this new chapter acted as a kind of reset of the messy narrative from the earlier chapters and it’s a better game now than it’s ever been imo. It will be interesting to see what they do with the story. There are still ties to the previous seasons but it’s pretty much a clean slate for them to work with going forward.

Re: TV Show Review: The Last of Us (HBO) Episode 7 - Emotional Mall Trip Is a Stunner

@LifeGirl I like it but it doesn’t feel like a living, breathing world with real characters - it feels like a tv show with nice sets and ok actors.

I mean, I like Pascal but can he actually act? Or is he just a cool guy with great screen presence? Because there are some scenes in this show have had me questioning his range as an actor. I like him and he seems like an ok guy but I can’t tell if he’s actually playing a role or just showing up on set and being himself sometimes. He hasn’t captured Joel’s personality well at all imo.

Ramsey has been a mixed bag too but not the complete disaster as I worried she might be. Her reaction to Henry blowing his brains out was amazing but sometimes I can see the thought process in her head. Like the way she moves her eyes and her movements feel like someone acting as opposed to convincingly embodying a character completely. I think she has a lot of potential but she’s not quite there yet. I don’t see her as Ellie at all. She’s no more Ellie than Tom Holland was Nathan Drake.

Overall the show has been ok but the pacing is a mess. It feels like a storyboard - Joel and Ellie are here, and then they’re here, and then they’re here… Ok, but where’s the character growth and gradual bond forming between them? Nonexistent. As someone who has played the game at least 15 times over the years on PS3/4/5, I can sort of fill-in the gaps but the storytelling is just so inferior to the game.

When the ‘terrible awful’ scene arrives in season 2, I’m not sure I’ll even be bothered. That scene in the game was a real gut-punch but Joel on the show is so devoid of personality, I’ll probably react with nothing more than a shrug. And that’s a real shame.

Re: Poll: Did You Buy Hogwarts Legacy?

@MrMeeeseeeks I’m a G and it bugs me to no end that we’re all bundled into the same group and there’s an expectation that we should all stick up for each other no matter what. It’s not like that IRL at all. I love JKR and HP and I’ll buy whatever I want with not a single F given. The game is fantastic btw.

Re: TV Show Review: The Last of Us (HBO) Episode 4 - A Heart-Warming Breather

GagaOooLaLa

@mus422 yeah… So far on the show, Joel and Ellie have had a single encounter with two clickers and a single encounter with two raiders. In the game, they had been through so much more by this point.

Sorry, I forgot the half-buried infected guy who Ellie kills in the gas station. He wasn’t really a threat though.

I don’t think they have done a particularly good job at making the world seem all that dangerous so far.

@naruball it’s not a conversation though when anything that isn’t 100% agreement is silenced. That’s the problem unfortunately. By silencing people, you only make them angry and turn them against the issues you claim to support. It doesn’t help matters at all - it makes them much worse in fact.

Re: Actress Ella Balinska Has Seen Your PS5 Forspoken Memes, And She Ain't Fussed

@KaijuKaiser it must be the overwhelming sense of regret at buying the lesser console. I know some people didn’t have a choice due to the PS5 shortages. It’s sad really. Imagine buying ‘the worlds most powerful console’ and not having any first party games to show off it’s full potential. Only multi-plats, XB1 and 360 games. You’d be angry too 😂

Re: TV Show Review: The Last Of Us (HBO) Episode 3 - Television At Its Finest

GagaOooLaLa

All I could think about whilst watching the episode was how some people would be sat at home squirming in their seat at seeing two burly (and very hairy) men being intimate. I’m so happy they didn’t hold back in showing Bill and Franks relationship. Love is love people. And real love is rare, especially in this world. We’re all adults here - or, we’re supposed to be.

@Human_Tornado “sensed her as one of their own” - like the Xenomorph in Alien 3 that won’t harm Ripley because she ‘has one inside her’? Or like the infected in the World War Z movie who don’t attack terminally ill people?

I’m not sure I like the idea of the Cordyceps virus having an agenda or an evolved sense of awareness. I really didn’t like the root-network / alarm system and them all being connected to one another. The virus is scary enough already. It doesn’t need to be ‘bigger, louder, more teeth’. The horror was in its simplicity.

The infected will be talking next…

Re: PS Plus Premium Adds Three-Hour Dying Light 2 Trial on PS5, PS4

GagaOooLaLa

3 hours is roughly the amount of time it took for me to realise this game was awful compared to the first one.

I actually realised this within the first 30 minutes but I really hoped it would improve. It never did.

I don’t know how they got it so wrong when the first game was so good? They had a great foundation to build on and chose to completely abandon it for something way worse 🤷‍♂️
