So after watching the surprisingly brilliant movie ‘Prey’ yesterday (best ‘Predator’ movie since the original imo), I’ve been playing Fortnite with my Predator skin 😁
What happened to WB? I swear they used to be huge when I was a kid, with a WB cinema chain and WB stores (like Disney stores). Then they just disappeared 🤷♂️
Game was ok. Characters/Story not gritty enough. Not even slightly believable that these people were resistance fighters lol Wish they would ramp up the realism and create characters who behave like real people in that situation would behave. We got the Disney version sadly.
AC became so bland and unfocused when they tried to please/represent everyone. Hopefully they’ll stick to one, well-written character (male or female) in the next entry and ditch this one-size-fits-all approach.
@rachetmarvel I’m just tired of forced videogame romances full stop. I can’t think of a single instance where it’s been done well, ever.
In this case they’ll say it’s because they’re being inclusive but really, it’s because when the inevitable backlash happens they can use it as an excuse to shield themselves from ANY criticism if the game happens to be rubbish or sells poorly.
It’s not that they support the cause exactly but that they can use it for their own benefit, which is kind of insulting honestly.
Both Endgame and TLoU2 suffered from the same issues - weak writing and weren’t nearly as good as their first parts (TLoU Pt1 / Infinity War). They were still decent though, just not as good as what came before 🤷♂️
MS have deep pockets but when was the last time they made a truly outstanding game?
It’s interesting that this buyout seems to get a ‘Whoa bro, they got one over on Sony!’ reaction. If Sony did the exact same thing, the article would be about how ‘Sony’s bullish practices are toxic, unfair and hurt the gaming community!’ Funny that.
We’d play more if they stopped delaying all the games. The numbers will rise again in 2023 when all the games that were supposed to come out this year are released 😂
@naruball haha I’m only being dramatic. I’m still looking forward to Evil West, God of War, A Plague Tale Requiem, TLoU, Destroy All Humans 2 and Callisto Protocol. Maybe those Gotham Knights / Midnight Suns games too. Things aren’t quite dire enough to resort to playing FIFA or COD (well, not yet anyway) 😂
@Col_McCafferty Alt-right hackers? lol maybe they leaked the footage themselves so they could hide behind their hurt feelings like they did with TLoU2.
Leaks are extremely hurtful (to our profit margins).
Poor devs getting paid to do something they love. Plays worlds smallest violin. Scr*w the fans being misled and overcharged for what appears to be a half-as*ed remaster.
@NickGerr1986 that’s the thing, TLoU2 should have been huge but instead they split the fanbase down the middle and left half of us feeling bitterly disappointed.
What should have been an incredible and celebrated return of one of the most beloved games ever, turned out to be an unnecessarily divisive sequel, mired in controversy, and removed any desire to see the story continued for many.
ND have been on a downward spiral for a while now and most of the amazingly talented people who worked there in the golden years are long gone.
How did ND go from being Sony’s best studio, to remastering their own games (that don’t even need it)?
I hope they have something fresh in the pipeline (other than TLoU MP… 🙄) because they really have become boring and one-note. Very talented, don’t get me wrong. But the least exciting of all of Sony’s first party studios.
Uncharted and TLoU are so played out at this point.
It’s not a good RE show sadly. It’s not even a good zombie show.
I’m all for the diverse casting but it does feel like the decision to cast mostly people of colour is the only thing the show has going for it. Replace the entire cast with white actors and this show would have been torn to shreds (deservedly). Its just plain bad.
I only wish they had put more effort into writing a better plot with stronger, (more) interesting characters. I don’t understand why it’s so difficult to get it right?
I can’t see this show getting many repeat viewings or having a passionate fanbase, so what’s the point of it?
I always thought you should get rewards for getting the Platinum trophy in a game (an exclusive skin for the game or something?). Sony used to give you a free Avatar if you unlocked the Platinum trophy in their first party games but not sure if they still do?
@PaperAlien what really annoys me is the way the zombies hang back or attack one at a time because the plot demands it.
I don’t mind that the zombies can run (although I do prefer the slow-walking variety myself). But to show them sprinting and piling on top of each other one minute and then standing back (so a single zombie can fight the main character one on one) the next really breaks the immersion. If you’re using fast zombies they should swarm the character all at once - that’s the whole point of having fast zombies 🙄
I’ve just finished the first episode (reluctantly). I like the guy playing Wesker but that’s about all the praise I can give it.
Just watched the first 10 minutes and it’s BAD. Really bad. I know one shouldn’t judge prematurely but first impressions count.
Clearly every single person involved in the making of this show has never played a Resident Evil game in their life. They’re just using the name because it’s popular.
@dark_knightmare2 But what happens to Joel in TLoU2 doesn’t happen because he was a bad person in the 20 year time jump - which we don’t actually see. It happens because of what he did at the hospital in TLoU1 - which he was perfectly justified in doing imo.
The Fireflies were sinister AF. And I do compare them to Nazi scientists/doctors. Those monsters experimented on thousands of children during the Second World War - and I’m sure they believed they were saving the world too, in their warped minds.
So no, I don’t have any sympathy for Abby - she was a murderer just like her Father.
@dark_knightmare2 Joel was perfectly justified in taking the action he did at the end of the first game. The Fireflies were sick and evil, experimenting on kids (fatally) without their knowledge. And we’re meant to feel bad for Abby in the second game… Swap the fireflies for Nazi scientists - would you feel bad for the daughter of a Nazi scientist who experimented on kids in the Second World War? I sure wouldn’t. Joel deserved better.
@Dudditz09 yes it is £70 - that’s the most unsavoury aspect of the whole thing. They may have put a lot of work into it but they didn’t have the usual costs of developing a new game - the expense of writing an original story, recording new voice actors, designing the character models or level design. Absolutely should not be a full price game.
We’ll have to wait to see if they make any George Lucas style changes to the story (making Joel more unpleasant, making the Fireflies less sinister) so the story choices in the second game makes more sense.
@Gloamin I can’t imagine Rockstar would intentionally go out of their way to offend anybody. But those people will be offended anyway. Comedy and Satire are lost on those people.
@Jeaz it’s crazy really when you think about it. You’d think given all the money they have accumulated from the GTA V gravy train, they would invest more into remastering their classic games than anyone else. But Rockstar have been coasting on GTA V’s popularity for years and putting very little back into the gaming community. Greed takes a grip of the best of us I suppose.
A relief honestly. I have zero experience in videogame development and somehow even I feel I could have done a better job at remastering the GTA Trilogy than Grove Street Games did. An embarrassing travesty if ever there was one.
@Axelay71 not to make excuses for this kind of behaviour but this could have been avoided if the developer was more open with fans. Why all the secrecy?
We keep seeing articles posted here bemoaning Sony’s lack of communication with fans - I imagine many feel the same way when it comes to their favourite games. I’m not talking about the crazy p*nis pic senders - I’m talking about the average gamer who’s chomping at the bit for more info. Saying, ‘it’s ready when it’s ready’ doesn’t really help matters.
@Cikajovazmaj the problem with TLoU2 backlash is that it was mostly rational people who disliked the direction the story was taken - then there were the bigots and homophobes. But somehow they were seen as being the same thing and lumped together in the same group. So if you genuinely disliked TLoU2’s story choices, you were instantly labelled a ‘hater’ or worse. Which of course lead to many heated arguments on the internet 🤷♂️

I love the way they spoke back then. People on tv seemed much more intelligent than they do now.
Re: Press X for Trophies Is a Sad Indictment of PS5, PS4 Today
This doesn’t bother me really but they kinda ruined the trophy system when they changed the levels a few years ago.

@Lumic yeah, I believe it is on Hulu in the US. It’s on Disney Plus in the UK. I really enjoyed it.

Are there ANY games still coming out this year? 😫
Re: Soapbox: I'm Sorry, But Your Cute Cat Game Isn't That Great
I enjoyed it more on my Speedrun playthrough.
It’s an interesting world BlueTwelve created but it doesn’t really make sense. Why are there only cats and robots? What do the cats eat to survive?
The little enemy creatures reminded me of the Scraps from Tearaway Unfolded (even down to them having a weakness to light).
I thought it was ok overall. It was a pleasant and brief experience. Nothing groundbreaking really but enjoyable for what it was.

Re: Sony Announces PlayStation Stars, a Free Loyalty Scheme for PS5, PS4 Fans
@daveofduncan yeah, I got the rewards for Spider-Man, Horizon Zero Dawn and God of War.
I think you get an exclusive dye for your armour in Ghost of Tsushima (but no Avatar/Wallpaper).
I don’t think I got anything for Astro’s Playroom, Ratchet & Clank Rift Apart or Horizon Forbidden West and I got the platinum for all of those games.

I won’t be paying £70 for it though. Not a chance.
