Re: Uh Oh! Square Enix Demands Removal of Leaked Tomb Raider Script from Patreon

@rachetmarvel I’m just tired of forced videogame romances full stop. I can’t think of a single instance where it’s been done well, ever.

In this case they’ll say it’s because they’re being inclusive but really, it’s because when the inevitable backlash happens they can use it as an excuse to shield themselves from ANY criticism if the game happens to be rubbish or sells poorly.

It’s not that they support the cause exactly but that they can use it for their own benefit, which is kind of insulting honestly.

Re: Soapbox: I'm Sorry, But Your Cute Cat Game Isn't That Great

I enjoyed it more on my Speedrun playthrough.

It’s an interesting world BlueTwelve created but it doesn’t really make sense. Why are there only cats and robots? What do the cats eat to survive?

The little enemy creatures reminded me of the Scraps from Tearaway Unfolded (even down to them having a weakness to light).

I thought it was ok overall. It was a pleasant and brief experience. Nothing groundbreaking really but enjoyable for what it was.

Re: Reaction: WTF Is Going on with The Last of Us PS5?

GagaOooLaLa

@NickGerr1986 that’s the thing, TLoU2 should have been huge but instead they split the fanbase down the middle and left half of us feeling bitterly disappointed.

What should have been an incredible and celebrated return of one of the most beloved games ever, turned out to be an unnecessarily divisive sequel, mired in controversy, and removed any desire to see the story continued for many.

ND have been on a downward spiral for a while now and most of the amazingly talented people who worked there in the golden years are long gone.

Re: The Last of Us: Part I PS5 Gameplay Is Next to Leak

GagaOooLaLa

How did ND go from being Sony’s best studio, to remastering their own games (that don’t even need it)?

I hope they have something fresh in the pipeline (other than TLoU MP… 🙄) because they really have become boring and one-note. Very talented, don’t get me wrong. But the least exciting of all of Sony’s first party studios.

Uncharted and TLoU are so played out at this point.

Re: First Impressions: Resident Evil Netflix Deviates from the Games But Still Entertains

GagaOooLaLa

It’s not a good RE show sadly. It’s not even a good zombie show.

I’m all for the diverse casting but it does feel like the decision to cast mostly people of colour is the only thing the show has going for it. Replace the entire cast with white actors and this show would have been torn to shreds (deservedly). Its just plain bad.

I only wish they had put more effort into writing a better plot with stronger, (more) interesting characters. I don’t understand why it’s so difficult to get it right?

I can’t see this show getting many repeat viewings or having a passionate fanbase, so what’s the point of it?

A waste of an opportunity, money and resources 👎

Re: Round Up: Resident Evil Netflix TV Show Reviews Are All Over the Place

GagaOooLaLa

@PaperAlien what really annoys me is the way the zombies hang back or attack one at a time because the plot demands it.

I don’t mind that the zombies can run (although I do prefer the slow-walking variety myself). But to show them sprinting and piling on top of each other one minute and then standing back (so a single zombie can fight the main character one on one) the next really breaks the immersion. If you’re using fast zombies they should swarm the character all at once - that’s the whole point of having fast zombies 🙄

I’ve just finished the first episode (reluctantly). I like the guy playing Wesker but that’s about all the praise I can give it.

Re: The Last of Us PS5 Remake Is Meticulously Built and Crafted, Not a Cash Grab

@dark_knightmare2 But what happens to Joel in TLoU2 doesn’t happen because he was a bad person in the 20 year time jump - which we don’t actually see. It happens because of what he did at the hospital in TLoU1 - which he was perfectly justified in doing imo.

The Fireflies were sinister AF. And I do compare them to Nazi scientists/doctors. Those monsters experimented on thousands of children during the Second World War - and I’m sure they believed they were saving the world too, in their warped minds.

So no, I don’t have any sympathy for Abby - she was a murderer just like her Father.

Re: The Last of Us PS5 Remake Is Meticulously Built and Crafted, Not a Cash Grab

GagaOooLaLa

@dark_knightmare2 Joel was perfectly justified in taking the action he did at the end of the first game. The Fireflies were sick and evil, experimenting on kids (fatally) without their knowledge. And we’re meant to feel bad for Abby in the second game… Swap the fireflies for Nazi scientists - would you feel bad for the daughter of a Nazi scientist who experimented on kids in the Second World War? I sure wouldn’t. Joel deserved better.

Re: The Last of Us PS5 Remake Is Meticulously Built and Crafted, Not a Cash Grab

GagaOooLaLa

@Dudditz09 yes it is £70 - that’s the most unsavoury aspect of the whole thing. They may have put a lot of work into it but they didn’t have the usual costs of developing a new game - the expense of writing an original story, recording new voice actors, designing the character models or level design. Absolutely should not be a full price game.

We’ll have to wait to see if they make any George Lucas style changes to the story (making Joel more unpleasant, making the Fireflies less sinister) so the story choices in the second game makes more sense.

Re: GTA 6 Is Rockstar's Focus as Red Dead Redemption, GTA 4 Remasters Reportedly Shelved

GagaOooLaLa

@Jeaz it’s crazy really when you think about it. You’d think given all the money they have accumulated from the GTA V gravy train, they would invest more into remastering their classic games than anyone else. But Rockstar have been coasting on GTA V’s popularity for years and putting very little back into the gaming community. Greed takes a grip of the best of us I suppose.

Re: God of War Ragnarok Dev Sony Santa Monica Demands Respect After Unsavoury Week

GagaOooLaLa

@Axelay71 not to make excuses for this kind of behaviour but this could have been avoided if the developer was more open with fans. Why all the secrecy?

We keep seeing articles posted here bemoaning Sony’s lack of communication with fans - I imagine many feel the same way when it comes to their favourite games. I’m not talking about the crazy p*nis pic senders - I’m talking about the average gamer who’s chomping at the bit for more info. Saying, ‘it’s ready when it’s ready’ doesn’t really help matters.

Re: God of War Ragnarok Dev Sony Santa Monica Demands Respect After Unsavoury Week

@Cikajovazmaj the problem with TLoU2 backlash is that it was mostly rational people who disliked the direction the story was taken - then there were the bigots and homophobes. But somehow they were seen as being the same thing and lumped together in the same group. So if you genuinely disliked TLoU2’s story choices, you were instantly labelled a ‘hater’ or worse. Which of course lead to many heated arguments on the internet 🤷‍♂️
