As many of you will no doubt already know, Bethesda and Sony have recently come to some sort of an agreement regarding user created mods for Fallout 4 and yet-to-be-released The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim - Special Edition. Indeed, mod support is now officially confirmed for both titles on PlayStation 4, which is good news for just about everyone involved.
It's still unclear why Sony wouldn't allow mod support in the first place, but what we do know is that Bethesda appears to be thankful that the Japanese giant changed its stance. Posting on Twitter, Bethesda VP of marketing Pete Hines wrote "Big thanks to the folks at PlayStation who worked with us to get PS4 mod support out for Fallout 4 and Skyrim". He then reiterated that mod support "doesn't happen without them". Isn't it nice when we can all just get along?
Are you glad that mods are finally coming to PS4? Will you be making use of them? Build a whole new game in the comments section below.

I'm guessing Sony got a lot of nasty emails, phone calls, etc. after Bethesda spilled the beans.
Which is pretty funny since they threw Sony under the bus, i still believe Bethesda are entirely to blame, they've never given a damn about playstation users and they didn't want to go through the extra effort to get this feature on the platform...i bet Skyrim will still run like crap on playstation!
If you can even call them mods. I'm not sure why Sony won't allow mods to the same extent as Xbox. All I know that the issue is definitely on Sony's end.
I'm pretty sure this article was on here yesterday, or have I just entered the Matrix #dejavu
There goes that black cat again...
@viciousarcanum They just went the extra mile to make sure mods are on PS4 and you are saying they don't want to put the effort in..
What extent of mods are allowed?
*"mods"
I know that this is at best a half measure, but if it's all we're getting, I'm happy to get it. It'll make me feel better about getting Skyrim at some point (when I can nab it for $30).
I mean, Skyrim on a PS4 Pro is enough for a full priced purchase, it's just not in my budget. There are very few games that I've gotten more enjoyment out of and that was on the dismal PS3 version. So yeah, Skyrim upgraded to PS4 Pro specs PLUS some mods? I'll take it.
But Bethesda mods on the PS4 still has Sony's restrictions in place, i don't why Bethesda didn't do this months ago. Like i've said before Bethesda are full of it, i remember the poop they where coming out with when Skyrim was a mess on the PS3. The good thing about the Internet is everything is archived.
@banacheck Watch the language please.
there was a strong chance i wasnt going to buy skyrim without mods since ive already played and beaten it multiple times back on ps3. the prospect of mods has me VERY excited to jump back in. i was always jelous of the pc folks lol hoping for a mod that makes everyone look more realistic/lifelike
@Ralizah @DaweezMauiWowee @Totaldude911 It is so funny you three believe what they are saying. Bethesda Fall 3/Fallout Vegas/ Fallout really bad build games full with game braking glitches, saves lost, running like crap. He the mist gives the game a terrible framerate lets fix it by removing the mist. Skyrim on the PS3 game crashes, saves that slow down the game, DLC not working and not even releasing. The only good games that which werent totally broken Bioshock and Dishonored which got a terribly cheapass remaster on the PS4.
But i think the biggest hole in their story was the Farmsimulator with mods........
@Flaming_Kaiser To be fair, I actually liked Skyrim on the PS3. I remember having problems with it but thanks with a few patches it started running nicely.
Also, I'm surprised you haven't mentioned the PS3 port of Oblivion. From what I've seen, the port runs slightly smoother, the loading times were slightly fast, and the graphics were pretty colorful. The only thing that still bothered me from the port is that it doesn't have the add one both Pc and Xbox has, and that it still suffers a few bugs.
Yeah, I really want this but won't be buying until we know there are no technical problems. Once we can see the base game actually works I'll get excited about mods
Good move by sony! Hope this can happen with more games in the future
Some people really need to let go. Just because titles have been badly optimised in the past doesn't mean its a foregone conclusion it will happen again and again for all eternity and beyond. We gamers aren't the only ones who can learn from mistakes you know Give them a break.
@Grawlog
Given how some Bethesda games have run on PlayStation consoles in the past, I don't think it's completely out of line to still question every new release in that regard. The throwing Sony under the bus stuff is nonsense for sure though. Of course when Sony does it to Sean Murray (and I did think Yoshida was in the right to some degree though not fully), it's all good. Double standards for sure.
Either way, I think the whole situation is hilarious. The ability to use mods for the PS4 version never should've been in question to begin with, but were, Sony rightly gets called on it, then the mods happen and now the companies kiss and make up. Sometimes it's a public airing of dirty laundry to get things done. If that's what it takes, I'm not really against it.
Mod's are great and all but the fact that both games are getting PS4 Pro support is what has me excited.
I'm just glad we dont have to put up with all the whinging anymore. Now if only there was a way to shutdown the COD hate spam bandwagon...
@Grawlog If Sony's restrictions had on influence you would have the same modding options on both the XboxOne & PS4, they are not the same because of Sony's restrictions with the XboxOne coming out on top.
A bit late in the day for F4 they shouldn't of bothered, good news for Skyrim though. Still not buying it like
