Haha, it's always fun to turn back time – especially where American presidential candidate Donald Trump is involved. Back in 2004, the console wars were arguably at their fiercest: Sony was lapping the competition with the PlayStation 2, but like a rowdy American neighbour, Team Xbox was working incredibly hard to remain in the race.

And so, at E3 over a decade ago, Microsoft commissioned Donald Trump to create a spoof of The Apprentice that painted Xbox in the most positive possible light. In the video, a trio of "fake" Sony employees are shown playing Halo and eating pizza, while the likes of J. Allard and Peter Moore go out and interrogate gamers over what they want from Xbox Live.

The clip sees the two "teams" competing for the opportunity to design an MMORPG inspired by the bouffant businessman's life. "The winning team wins a contract to produce an MMORPG based on my colourful life," Donald purrs. "And I want to tell you, there's nobody – nobody – who has a more colourful life than I do." Quite.

It's not exactly transparent, but it's worth watching solely for the ChuChu Rocket gag that ex-SEGA executive Peter Moore drops. Still, it's hard to believe that 12 years after this aired, Trump would be running for the most powerful position in the world. It just goes to show, folks: you really can achieve anything that you set your mind to.
