Re: Reaction: Game Key PS5 Discs Are a Disgrace, and Sony Should Put a Stop to Them

ElkinFencer10

I agree with the sentiment - it's dishonest and an insult to the customers. That said...it is what it is. With how relatively small a share of the total games market physical sales make up, I doubt even Nintendo would see a big enough sales drop from a boycott to change anything (besides which, Nintendo hasn't actually used any yet - it's just an option for third parties - but that's neither here nor there), and far less of Sony's and Microsoft's game sales are physical than Nintendo's, so if people just stopped buying physical PS5 games, it wouldn't make Sony force publishers to put all data on the disc; they'd just stop pressing discs (which I think is what the PS6 will do as it is).

Re: Poll: Are You Hyped for GTA 6 After Trailer 2?

ElkinFencer10

I was excited until I saw Digital Foundry reported the that they're seeing 1080p - 1440p and 30 fps. In my opinion, PS5 and Series X, after almost five years on the market, should never be 30 fps at less than 2160p and should never be less than 60 fps at 1080p.

Re: Even Remastered PS2 Games Are Getting $250 Collector's Editions These Days

ElkinFencer10

In fairness, that game didn't get a ton of sales in the US on PS2, and older Megami Tensei has taken on a sort of cult classic status, so if any remaster deserves this kind of a CE, it's probably a Megami Tensei title.

Also, this is just the collector's edition. Just go grab the standard edition at Walmart or Amazon or something; LRG isn't holding a gun to your head.

Re: Future Fallout 76 Updates Aim to Improve Performance (Again)

ElkinFencer10

Actually, I've encountered FAR fewer frame rate and crashing issues since that first patch went up. It's totally possible that it's just dumb luck for me, but while those performance hiccups are still there for me, they've definitely been less frequent and less severe than they were for me at launch.

Re: Poll: What Are Your Thoughts on Call of Duty as a Whole?

ElkinFencer10

Call of Duty - especially the last few entries - are usually good, but for years, they really neglected the single player campaigns. The Modern Warfare trilogy was okay, Black Ops was 1 and 2 were alright, but in my opinion, from Call of Duty 2 until Advanced Warfare, the single player campaigns were just okay or "pretty good." Advanced Warfare, however, raised the bar; it, Black Ops III, and Infinite Warfare were fantastic.

Re: This PS4 Theme Is a New Low

On the one hand, I love that folks are relentlessly making fun of President Trump. On the other hand, this looks like crap someone made in 20 minutes for a school project.

Re: Call of Duty 2017 Will Return to the Series' Roots

ElkinFencer10

Personally, I'd like to see a war game set in the Korean War or maybe the Yugoslav Wars. Call of Duty has done a really excellent job with the past three games when it comes to storytelling, and there's a LOT of relatively untapped potential in some of the more overlooked wars of the 20th Century.

Re: Guide: Which Difficulty Should You Play Resident Evil 7 On?

ElkinFencer10

@Deadcow
I don't understand people who judge folks for their difficulty choice. You're playing the game, aren't you? That should be what's important, especially for a game like Resident Evil where the story and atmosphere are the most important parts. I'm playing on Normal, but I usually play games on Easy. No judgement here! =)

Re: Reaction: Nintendo Switch Knocks the Final Nail in PS Vita's Coffin

ElkinFencer10

I think the Switch will be great, but I absolutely love my Vita. It's still my favorite handheld of all time. I think the problem that both the Wii U and the Vita had was that it sort of tried to be both but not really. The Vita was definitely a handheld that acted like a gimped console; the Wii U was definitely a console that acted like it was sort of a handheld insomuch as you play a Vita or DS lounging on the sofa. Neither really did the whole "combo" thing well. The Switch, however, seems like it will finally do that hybridization right.

It may flop. I think Nintendo will finally get it right this time, though, by reaching that true middle ground - far more powerful than any handheld we've imagined while keeping with Nintendo's tendency to prioritize gameplay options over hardware prowess in home consoles. I'll continue to buy new Vita releases as long as they keep coming, and I'll mourn its loss when it finally does breathe its last. I'm a huge and lifelong Nintendo fan, so I'm optimistic that the Switch will be a great platform, but I'm also still unconvinced about a lot of things given the scarcity of concrete details, so I'm remaining skeptical for the time being.

Re: Review: XCOM 2 (PS4)

ElkinFencer10

I LOVED XCOM 2 (I finished it last night), but I definitely think the plethora of technical issues - at times severe - should put the PS4 version at a much lower score than 9. Personally, I'd give it a 7.

Re: Soapbox: Uncharted 4's Higher Difficulties Kill the Joy of Combat

ElkinFencer10

@johncalmc
Same here. If it's a game that I know will be very long and very story-driven, I'll usually set it to Easy, at least until I get the hang of the mechanics. This stigma about playing on default or easy difficulties is ridiculous; the purpose of video games is to relax and enjoy your leisure time, not out-bro everybody else.

Re: Poll: Should the PS4 Pro Have a UHD Blu-ray Player?

ElkinFencer10

I think it would have been a better idea to have one...but by this point, most people stream or download everything, and since it can do 4K movies those ways, then I think it would be like adopting a soon-to-be obsolete technology. I mean, sure, with the yes or no question "Should Sony have put a UHD player in the PS4 Pro?" I'd say yes, but if "It doesn't matter" is an option, I'm definitely going to choose that one.

Re: PlayStation Move Is About to Make a Big Comeback

ElkinFencer10

@get2sammyb
I liked it a fair bit. It seemed more finicky with the tracking than the Wii, and it never felt as accurate as Wii Motion Plus, but it was definitely more accurate than the standard Wiimote, and some of the games were great - mainly House of the Dead 4 IMO (and Dead Space: Extraction and House of Dead: Overkill for those who didn't have a Wii).

Re: Here's How Resident Evil 4 Looks on the PS4

ElkinFencer10

@NintendoFan4Lyf
You're correct; the PS2 port had some extra features, but the Gamecube original had FAR superior graphics. It makes sense; the Gamecube had significantly stronger hardware than the PS2. The Wii version was the definitive version until now because it had the Gamecube's visuals with the PS2's formerly-exclusive features.
