Yeah, I wouldn't mind a modern setting, I thought battlefield 2042 was okay (6/10) so they still have my mind share for a new one, bring it on, but if it turns out crap I'll have to look elsewhere in the future because I cannot deal with Call of Duty these days with all of the sliding, jumping and what not.
Getting people, especially children off garbage/addicting games like Fortnite, Roblox and whatever is popular in Japan and eliminating them off the store entirely would lead to Sony earning more money via multiple products but this what you get I suppose which is leading the industry to were it is today by having live service games a priority first and foremost.
Another thing is having things like YouTube on these gaming devices, my friends son, as soon as he gets home from school he instantly goes on YouTube and watches tosh like skibidi toilet but he will go on Roblox, see some random promoted mode then try another, get reward, try another mode and get rewarded until the dopamine addiction pops and then back on YouTube due to the way that game or many others are designed which leads kids to think that nothing else is better which also leads to other games not seeing the light of day like astrobot.
It's like being addicted to drugs, you try it, you want more, you get bored, you stop, a detox/withdrawal happens and then boom back to the square one cycle of not knowing any better but more fool the industry I suppose.
On the current sku I have, it has the final fantasy plate's so I don't want to replace them and then be back to square one with an all white looking model plus my pc could do with a CPU upgrade so it's pointless going for this.
At least it isn't Disney making it but I suppose that wouldn't be bad because plenty of people are happy to see Disney be creatively bankrupt after all of the garbage they have produced over the years recently.
Well if the narrative is coming from Microsoft/Xbox I can see why they would do it because they want an all digital future that is cloud and subscription based only.
Microsoft are like a rich spoilt child that gets upset because all of the other middle class/poor kids are more interested, more friendly to the poor kids that all share their sub standard toys together so the rich child then goes on a tantrum and starts finding ways to bully them and get them in trouble just to satisfy themselves & feel wanted because they wouldn't give the other a kids a look or a go with their toys π
At this point us gaming enthusiasts are getting conditioned to eventually think that a disc version is a collectors edition and that the releases are limited.
I can imagine developers/publishers will start doing this more often in the long run that will lead us all slowly into a subscription/digital/cloud only gaming future.
With the state of the industry today I appreciate all of my classic/retro games from years ago today more then ever, I play them and get more fun & entertainment out of them then I do with games that get released today π, that's how bad the industry is at the moment in my eyes.
It definitely was okay-ish but it put the icing on the cake for me after watching bits at computex this week, maybe Microsoft/Xbox can put the cherry on top.
I suppose with GTA 6 (for example) getting announced people's curiosity is fulfilled and then people who just play Call of Duty, Fortnite, Roblox & so on couldn't care less.
The trailer is cool with some edgy subliminal marketing but we all know this game will have neon, anime, Niki Minaj character/weapon skins this time next year π
More bloat in the long run then but at the end of the day most people hold the button down to skip the cut scenes to speed run through it all.
It would be great if more creative/fun type of products with better physics (for example) are produced instead of these high end emotional cinematic storytelling games that we get today.
Live service games that people play and nothing else but that game is great for subscriptions. The player's, they end up paying more for the game throughout the year because you have to pay to play online either way and with people paying for skins it's a no brainer, I don't blame them especially when people buy it day one still.
Excluding the skins they would be paying like 200 beans for it maybe more for the first year.
@Stickleman Nagging children and folks that turned the correct age to play, my uncle who is now in his fifties bought it recently because he wanted to get back into gaming a little bit and he played the old ones so that's definitely one of the other reasons why it still sells well today.
@Balie3000 Yup correct just like Steve Jobs said.....
βThe only problem with Microsoft is they just have no taste. They have absolutely no taste. And I don't mean that in a small way, I mean that in a big way, in the sense that they don't think of original ideas, and they don't bring much culture into their products,β
They're a company that borrows/extracts and seeks ideas from others by either stealing the source and then they happily go to court every time over it or they just buy the competition, absorb the market to stay on top making them the dominant leader whilst making their investors happy but deep down they're just a company that sustains growth via software and mainly subscriptions now leading those at the top to not have to think of new critical industrial game changing ideas like Nintendo, Apple or even IBM so that leads it all back to square one to what I stated, Steve Jobs said and what you stated, they are a clueless corporate entity.
What is the connection frequency strength like on this thing when going into a different room, can it stay stable?, I wouldn't mind getting one for chill out days in bed, I don't want to be moving the console all the time.
@playstation1995 word up son, for real, you heard it on a crip tip, crash bandicoot sold hella copies which is da bomb since they opened up shop on the real skirting down sm, hopefully they keep it trill/fire/fly & not off the hook for og spyro, you know wut I'm saying cuz because it will be wiggity wack π
