@nomither6 Toxic Positivity is definitely a real term and i believe they used it right in terms of the higher ups refusing to address any issues. But honestly, Toxic Positivity also existed in a ton of people trying to shame people who criticized this game.

@DETfaninATL I feel exactly the same way. In the year of our lord 2024, I just think the Looter Shooter subgenre has been played out. Combing through a ton of procedurally generated gray (common) and green (uncommon) guns, getting excited for a millisecond to find a blue (rare) gun only to find it's something that's worse than what you have, is really dull.
The writing amd co-op is what saves it, but I'm hoping all the time developing has been time spent programming unique weapons. Imo, the only saving grace of Borderland 4 will be if there's less procedural generation
@MrGawain This; I rode it till the wheels fell off. I keep seeing updates on Vengeance and a part of me wants to get hyped because the original release was VERY VERY good. But whenever I think of replaying it? Even for a new storyline? I feel mentally fatigued.
I remember renting this from Blockbuster forever ago as a little kid and then never seeing it again because I forgot what it was called. I honestly thought I made it up so I'm super psyched to see it make an appearance 😂🤩
I don't personally care very much. But I'd be lying if I said that because that was one of the draws for this generation, it's weird that we're not consistently there yet.
It was a surprisingly solid update. Nonexistent lag, image quality was already great but looks even better and (this ones minor but I personally loved it) it felt like it took a while for the Power Off button to appear when you held the button but now it responds instantly
@Specky It really doesn't seem like a discussion when someone comments about their grievances and you come to the table with, "Take you complaining elsewhere, it's not relevant here".
Also, all my grievances are in my comments on my profile. Did a 6 point list about my grievances with the game, just didn't see a point in repeating them here. I didn't just "dislike the game because of some outrage shmuck" 🫤
@Specky I don't see why you're jumping down the throats of everyone who doesn't care for the game. You like the game, fantastic. Let people have their criticisms.
@AK4tywill Yeeeeah it really is something to see how up in arms gamers get when you don't care for a popular game. Checked out the Jimquisition review after reading the first comment about it on this article and it matches a ton of issues I have with DD2.
@Bunchesopuppies I agree, I'm not ranting or raving about it, was just giving reasons for why i didnt care for it.Those are just my pov on the matter. The games not for me, I'm glad people are enjoying it, but I'm over here playing Star Ocean.
@Bunchesopuppies 1. Gold beetles give you the tiniest bit of weight per limit
2. I'm a sorceror, it still results in casting Galvanize constantly every few minutes
3. I'm aware no horses exist in this world. What is this comment? And port crystal's rarity is one of the complaints people had about the micro transactions
4. It's still not great game design. There's a reason games like Elden Rings had the mini-bosses in more isolated areas. Were there times where they could fling themselves off cliffs? Yes. But not nearly enough where it's notable.
5. Wouldn't have mattered in this scenario. You remember my complaint is the NPCs are dumb? Staying near them meant dying to an enemy I wasn't ready for (Which I'm not complaining about, I think it's fun to run into overpowered enemies in open world games so you can come back for them later). Also keep in mind, I didn't notice they were gone until I turned around later because I took for granted that in nearly every modern video game, your NPCs follow you wherever you go. It's insane that there are NPCs designed to fight monsters no matter what when not even your pawns do that (the "flee" command). Especially when there's a part of the game where the tutorial pops up that tells you to weigh your options when fighting monsters and that sometimes fleeing is the best option.
6. I get that, doesn't make it any less annoying. Personal tastes or whatever but it's fine if a couple quests do this, but most of them?
@Nepp67 Really? You're telling me you've never heard anyone complain about video games that don't value their time? Like when there were complaints in the Sinnoh generation of Pokemon because the HP bars were extremely slow vs Pokemon Legends Arceus when people celebrated that reactions/battles/actions are instant? I'm not talking about games that encourage you to explore. Witcher 3 is much much bigger but it feels like that game values the gamer's time more than this one does
I'm personally disappointed in it. I was looking forward to this game for years and LOVED Dragons Dogma 1, but I really hoped this game would keep up with the times:
1. It feels like the weight limit is WAY too low, like a single harpy feather/pinion will put me over, same for stamina.
2. I like the stamina system when casting magic but man, my character needs to do some cardio because it feels like hes stopping to catch his breath every couple of minutes.
3. Forget fast traveling, at the very least in a game with a larger map like this and abysmal stamina and weight limits, at least give me a horse
4. So many mini-boss monsters fling themselves off cliffs or into water and there goes the loot
5. NPCs are so very dumb (not the pawns). I had a couple following me in a cave I was way too weak to take on. I awoke a spirit that was way to powerful for me and my party. So I ordered my pawns to flee and got out of there. After taking forever navigating the caves back to the entrance, I noticed the NPCs didn't follow me out. They stayed behind to fight the monster and I couldn't find them because their quest didn't have any markers. So i wandered the caves trying to find them until i got the message that they died. Which leads me to
6. Quests having no markers is just obnoxious. There are so many times where I just have to guess or hope or pray in terms of what to do for a quest objective.
All of these things and more make the game feel like such a chore. I rated it a 5 because the combat is still very fun, like I remember from the first game, but why are there so many systems in this game that feel like the PS3 era? Why does this game feel like it doesn't value my time at all? I hate that I don't like this game 🫤
@Ntennis37 So in Japan, the digimon games are split into three categories: Digimon World, Digimon Story and spin-offs. The spin-offs are all kinds of genres. Digimon World are monster-raisers where you spend more time training the monsters; you battle too, but they battles are typically more automatic. And there's Digimon Story which are typically turn-based Digimon RPGs with a detailed narrative. The Cyber Sleuth games were like, 5 and 6 (I think) of the Digimon Story games, they're just not typically called "Digimon Story" in America.
@UltimateOtaku91 I agree to a degree. When I had my PS5 connected to Wi-Fi, fast action games would stutter. But using an ethernet cable is a literal game changer.
HOWEVER, still wouldn't use it with online multi-player games though 😂
Finally got my hands on one and it's a phenomenal device. Feels so good in my hands. And the screen is so good and so defined, when I played Cult of the Lamb on it, the title screen practically looked 3D. HIGHLY recommend for anyone who needs the TV for multiple family members. People call it a dad device for a reason 😂
If you're going to live service, be creative with it. I tentatively like this concept. Instead of trying to pre-emptively shove Fortnite style battle passes and skins and etc in our faces, they want to organically respond to what the player base is doing; that's kind of cool
@slips666 Missing the point. What's the point in developing a remake to a game from almost 20 years ago if you're going to cut off the epilogue and resell it as DLC?
It'd be one thing if there had never been a definitive version and after developing the remake the developers went, "Hmm... You know, this story is incomplete. We feel inspired to add more to it". But this was intentional and pretty anti-consumer
Mostly true. If a game is fun enough, I don't miss fast travel. For Spider-man 2, I could probably count on one hand when I used the Fast Travel and it was all near the end when the story had escalated so much, I wanted to get to the marker as fast as possible to see what happened next. Otherwise, I never got bored swinging
Yeah, this is beating a dead horse but I don't see this game doing well, and I don't even think it's the multi-player that's an issue. I think the multi-player requiring multiple consoles has become an issue. I had someone come over to play couch co-op games and it's shocking the small amount of good ones compared to, say, the 90s-2015(?). Bring back couch co-op! 😂
I'm a magic/wizarding junkie in video games, but I passed on this one once more of the gameplay was revealed.
I was hoping a 1st person magic game would have more variety in the spells, but when the spells are just different colors of magic beams, it's not interesting. At least having it on PS Plus may compel me to try it for an hour.
@naruball Oh I totally agree 😂 And Fortnite is very fun but it has an addictive feedback loop. So couple that with the fact that a ton of kids play it because it's free, and they're the main ones buying up those skins. I've had several kids I know via friends or relatives who have proudly shown me their massive collection of Fortnite skins, backpacks, gliders, etc
@Impossibilium @Olliemar28 For me, I'm wondering if people kept up with why people suddenly turned on this game. Because it's not just blind fanboy hate. Two trailers ago during a Sony state of play, they released an entire display for the game which rubbed people the wrong way.
Prior to that, I was ex-TREMELY hyped over Suicide Squad. But once they showed the video with a huge chunk of, "And once you buy the game, you can buy the battle pass! Look at all of these weapons and skins you can buy for Harley Quinn! And on top of that, we'll keep rolling out updates to buy even more!" Couple that with the fact that they have a superhero game where the guy known for throwing boomerangs, the girl known for melee and explosives, and the giant shark man who brawls and eats people would all be fighting with guns, it really seems as though there's little love for the franchise they're taking on and just dollar signs in their eyes. It's VERY similar to the Avengers backlash. People aren't just being negative for no reason. It was a game people were very much looking forward to, then the developers announced that they'd be inserting more ways for people to spend their money.
@NarutosBiggestFan Negative or critical? It's perfectly OK for people to get upset if they feel as though people trying to sell them something are phoning it in or checking off the "do this to make loads of money" boxes. It is these critical comments and disappointment from the consumer that signals to the developers that what they're doing may need to be re-examined.
@Bionic-Spencer It really is something to see. Watching them try to convince the masses that their game is worth the investment when it's coming out at the same time as other massive games with features people actually want
@naruball So in Fortnite, theres no story campaign. 100 players are dropped onto an island and you try to be the last one standing. In Fortnite, Goku and Naruto are just skins to differentiate you from other players . The game isn't centered around Naruto's story or Goku's story. I'd be venting about the same thing if there was a DragonBall Z game where Frieza comes to Earth and Goku goes, "I'll stop you Frieza! With THIS!" and whips out an uzi.
What I mean by Suicide Squad looking like a Fortnite clone is the movement of the characters during traversal, the live action service, and the running and gunning. When the characters dive off the buildings in the gameplay trailer, it looks reminiscent to when you dive from the Battle Bus in Fortnite or just when you're jumping around in general. My general point is, they're chasing the live service dragon and it's annoying.
I just don't see how anyone thought it was acceptable to make a game with a playable giant shark man and make him shoot guns as his main mode of attack. He doesn't do it anywhere else in the comics, the movies, etc. But in the medium where there are tons of games where you shoot guns, but very little where you're a giant muscular shark, they give him a gun. Brilliant.
If you're making a superhero game, be more creative. This looks more heavily inspired by Fortnite than DC
@Arkantos2990 @Elodin I've gotta push back against that because I've played so much Ark solo and done it just fine. Ark is what you make of it, and for me, it's pretty fun. There's all sorts of beasts and dinos and mythical creatures you can tame, the survival aspect has a pretty addictive loop in terms of gaining more resources and building weapons and your base, and the exploration can be pretty fun, finding new places to build on the lore and to explore.
I'm only speaking for the original Ark, because I don't know if the remake will carry all of this over, but the game has a menu come up with a ton of settings prior to starting a new game/map that you can tweak to hone your experience. For example, the way you tame a lot of the wild animals is by knocking them out and feeding them and waiting for their alliance to switch to you via a timer. Normally, for a semblance of realism and depending on the dino, this can take several minutes-to-hours. However, prior to starting a map, it gives you the option to tweak how long the days and nights are, how long it takes to tame dinos, how long it takes for eggs to hatch, etc.
There's so many options available to you to tweak the experience to make the Ark experience what you want to be. Because of that, it's pretty easy to make an accessible solo/co-op/couch co-op experience. I intentionally set my timers pretty low (but not too low, don't want to make it insanely easy), so I have a reasonable number of beasts to travel with, the guard my base, to help me swim and fish, etc which helps with the hard dinos that Arkantos was referring to.
And for me, I'd argue the online multiplayer is a masochistic experience. This could have changed, but Ark was famous when it first came out for being brutal online. People set up cages at the spawn points so when newbies logged on, they'd be trapped, and for realism, there's no way to get out unless the person who created the trap lets you out. Then there's the whole thing about needing to have people in your clan online at all times or you may log on to find your base raided, your stash stolen, your dinos killed, etc.
While I love the idea of this, you can already do this regularly with Spotify on the PS5 unless they intentionally disable it. If you haven't already, if there's a game where you don't like the game music, are tired of it, or just want to feel cinematic for a while, mute the game music and make a Spotify Playlist with anime music.
Playing Ratchet and Clank on New Game+ with the game music muted and Silhouette playing while zooming around with the jet boots was such a vibe
People comparing it to Pikmin and meanwhile my geriatric (not really) brain is like, "Looks like Sim Ant fully realized". And I loved me some Sim Ant as a kid so I'm here for it 😂
@Toilet_Goat Maybe not literally dozens of times, but it certainly feels formulaic and annoying to some degree if you're an anime fan. And because a lot of popular anime feel like they get maybe one good game franchise before they fall out of relevance (Unless they're massive like The Big Three), it feels like wasted opportunity. It begs the question these days, why an arena fighter and not something like One Piece Odyssey which was a gorgeous turn-based RPG (which utilized a unique combat system in being able to jump in and out of groups during combat) with an original story and a new area to explore? or the Attack on Titan games which had you swinging around slaying the Titans?
They've even done 3D arena fighters when it doesn't make sense which adds to the fatigue. Like Demon Slayer? The anime about slaying demons made a 3D arena fighting game instead of making a game about, you know, slaying demons. And it would have been so easy to translate the anime to an RPG. Make the sword styles part of a skill tree, have Tanjiro or other characters be able to get new swords with stats and/or abilities. But it's all more effort than just making an arena brawler so it's frustrating to witness. My Hero makes sense because the anime is about fighting, but why not do something more creative like Xenoverse where you create your own hero? That's why it feels like "dozens of times"; it feels like game devs phoning it in. If they saved it for games where it made sense, it'd probably feel a lot less exhausting.
I'm truly happy for anyone who wanted a return to the traditional Assassin's Creed, but this review more or less confirms why it's a personal "skip" for me. I really enjoyed Odyssey and Valhalla's gameplay, they were just way... too... LONG. And I enjoyed the traditional Assassin's Creed for a while, but like the review said, it's fun for a while but got really one note (for me personally). Hoping Mirage sees some sort of success as a stepping stone to what the series could become someday. Maybe some sort of marriage between the traditional series and the Action RPGs.
Will probably grab it after Spider-Man 2. I bought it and waited for it until the PS5 update. Played it for 10 hours and was totally disinterested. Skill trees were unimpressive, combat was bland, inventory was a mess and cluttered, really annoying to look at. I was really confused why so many reviewers talked about builds and etc when the skill trees basically amounted to "Pistol damage increases by 5%". So I traded it in.
Maybe I'm buying into 2.0 hype but since those were overhauled, seems like most, if not all my issues were addressed so I'll give CDR another shot.
The story was ok, definitely worth $4 (which is basically nothing). The combat does start to feel super repetitive as you play on. Luckily you get other heroes as it starts feeling boring, otherwise it would've been a pretty stale game. It's wild to me how that happened though because on both Spider-Man games, I could do the same combos over and over again and the combat always felt fun and fresh. Avengers sorely needed more skills per hero or something to make it feel more fun but they were too money-focused for something like that.
9/10 with the potential for 10 out of 10 in the future with fixes. I have two main problems with the game:
1. As you get further and further into the game, it goes Bethesda and starts struggling. Pop-in gets really bad when switching to cutscenes, the frame rate starts chugging, and god help you if you're a summoner because the game will literally freeze at times because I'm summoning a new asset into the game. I hold my breath everytime I do it now because past games have taught me that a crash is a-comin'. Luckily that hasn't been the case.
2. The game's shorter than I expected? Maybe what I heard was misinformation, but people said that just like in Divinity 2, Act 2 is the longest part of the game. But I flew through Act 2 while doing all side quests, interactions and etc per the heroic playthrough I'm currently doing. Maybe it's longer depending on what choices you make, i don't know. But the devs said that just doing the main story alone is like, 200 hours. This is usually a detriment to me but there are certain games that I don't mind taking an entire life like the Witcher and this one, and having arrived at Act 3 at level 10, 50 hours in, it feels like it's coming to a close too quickly. Maybe I'm wrong and Act 3 is the longest.
Been playing early access once I realized those evil geniuses did the offer on Labor Day Weekend and I'm in love 😍 At first it comes across as just a really good CRPG game but once you get used to the mechanics, the world truly is your oyster. I already have alternate builds and playthroughs going through my head. Absolutely my GOTY (Unless Dragons Dogma 2 comes out this year, can't remember 😂)
When I think of the original, I think of the first time I was a wizard and could create a freaking tornado to just shoot all the ambushing bandits in the air and instantly wipe em out. No game has given me that experience as a magic-lover since and I'm soooo psyched to jump back into this world 🤤
@EMQZ Money. Now that some services have consolidated and/or have cornered the market, they're going to push and see how far they can go. Netflix raised their prices and forced people to get their own accounts, other streaming services are gonna follow suit, and now Sony's tossing its hat in the ring.
It's just such an odd choice. If you're going to bump the price up by $40, I would think that you would announce games that would make people go, "Oh that's amazing! I don't want to miss that!" as opposed to, "Oof those are bad games, I can skip this month... You know what? Maybe I can skip PS Plus Essential/Extra/Premium in general"

For Spider-man 2, I could probably count on one hand when I used the Fast Travel and it was all near the end when the story had escalated so much, I wanted to get to the marker as fast as possible to see what happened next. Otherwise, I never got bored swinging

Re: South Park: Snow Day! Forecasts Multiplayer Madness in March on PS5
Re: Magical PS5 FPS Immortals of Aveum Is Probably Coming to PS Plus at Some Point
Re: Embrace Your Inner Landlord In The Sims 4 For Rent Official Gameplay
It's amazing to me that in 2023, The Sims is still slowly selling parts of the game that could've just been included in the base game 🤦♂️
Re: Suicide Squad Returns with All-New PS5 Gameplay
@naruball Oh I totally agree 😂 And Fortnite is very fun but it has an addictive feedback loop. So couple that with the fact that a ton of kids play it because it's free, and they're the main ones buying up those skins. I've had several kids I know via friends or relatives who have proudly shown me their massive collection of Fortnite skins, backpacks, gliders, etc
Re: Free Villains, Weapons, Events Set for Suicide Squad PS5 After Launch
Re: Free Villains, Weapons, Events Set for Suicide Squad PS5 After Launch
@NarutosBiggestFan Negative or critical? It's perfectly OK for people to get upset if they feel as though people trying to sell them something are phoning it in or checking off the "do this to make loads of money" boxes. It is these critical comments and disappointment from the consumer that signals to the developers that what they're doing may need to be re-examined.
Re: Free Villains, Weapons, Events Set for Suicide Squad PS5 After Launch
@Bionic-Spencer It really is something to see. Watching them try to convince the masses that their game is worth the investment when it's coming out at the same time as other massive games with features people actually want
Re: Suicide Squad Returns with All-New PS5 Gameplay
Re: Suicide Squad Returns with All-New PS5 Gameplay
I just don't see how anyone thought it was acceptable to make a game with a playable giant shark man and make him shoot guns as his main mode of attack. He doesn't do it anywhere else in the comics, the movies, etc. But in the medium where there are tons of games where you shoot guns, but very little where you're a giant muscular shark, they give him a gun. Brilliant.
If you're making a superhero game, be more creative. This looks more heavily inspired by Fortnite than DC
Re: ARK: Survival Ascended Looks Stunning in Gorgeous Gameplay
Re: Naruto Storm Connections Is Selling Dangerous Levels of Nostalgia as Anime Opening Song DLC

Re: Jujutsu Kaisen's Long-Awaited PS5, PS4 Game Looks Exactly Like You Expect
Re: Assassin's Creed Mirage (PS5) - A Solid But Slightly Dated Return to the Series' Roots

Re: Poll: Are You Playing Cyberpunk 2077 Update 2.0?
Will probably grab it after Spider-Man 2. I bought it and waited for it until the PS5 update. Played it for 10 hours and was totally disinterested. Skill trees were unimpressive, combat was bland, inventory was a mess and cluttered, really annoying to look at. I was really confused why so many reviewers talked about builds and etc when the skill trees basically amounted to "Pistol damage increases by 5%". So I traded it in.
Maybe I'm buying into 2.0 hype but since those were overhauled, seems like most, if not all my issues were addressed so I'll give CDR another shot.
Re: Marvel's Avengers Is Dirt Cheap Ahead of Getting Thanos Snapped Later This Month
Re: Poll: What Review Score Would You Give Baldur's Gate 3?

BAHAHAHA! 🤣 "Is it any good?" That's a good one. But seriously, glad that the games living up to expectations!
Re: Poll: Did You Buy Baldur's Gate 3?
Been playing early access once I realized those evil geniuses did the offer on Labor Day Weekend and I'm in love 😍 At first it comes across as just a really good CRPG game but once you get used to the mechanics, the world truly is your oyster. I already have alternate builds and playthroughs going through my head. Absolutely my GOTY (Unless Dragons Dogma 2 comes out this year, can't remember 😂)
Re: Anticipated Capcom RPG Sequel Dragon's Dogma 2 Will Be Playable at Tokyo Game Show
When I think of the original, I think of the first time I was a wizard and could create a freaking tornado to just shoot all the ambushing bandits in the air and instantly wipe em out. No game has given me that experience as a magic-lover since and I'm soooo psyched to jump back into this world 🤤
Re: Reaction: Has Sony Put Together the Worst PS Plus Month Ever?
@EMQZ Money. Now that some services have consolidated and/or have cornered the market, they're going to push and see how far they can go. Netflix raised their prices and forced people to get their own accounts, other streaming services are gonna follow suit, and now Sony's tossing its hat in the ring.
Re: Reaction: Has Sony Put Together the Worst PS Plus Month Ever?
It's just such an odd choice. If you're going to bump the price up by $40, I would think that you would announce games that would make people go, "Oh that's amazing! I don't want to miss that!" as opposed to, "Oof those are bad games, I can skip this month... You know what? Maybe I can skip PS Plus Essential/Extra/Premium in general"
