I was really interested in trying this trilogy since I never played it growing up, but I'm too worried it'll drive me crazy. Sometimes I can get very frustrated in games if I keep dying and doing parts over and over. 😥
Nothing feels like a must have day one game to me like HZD and P5 were in the first half of the year, but I'm most excited for Dishonored's and Uncharted's standalone DLC and Ni No Kuni II.
Now that I'm home from work, I'll play some Battlefield 1 campaign in a bit. I realized my nephew's Xbox One came with a download code and hadn't been used yet (since Xmas)..so I put it in.
They could maybe have an occasional Direct type video that showcases some upcoming VR and Indie games. Individual trailers and announcements for stuff like that can easily be missed if you aren't checking sites like this all the time. Or maybe you guys can just make your own Push Square Direct with that info 😜
@get2sammyb Yes! I'm usually a quiet gamer (unless something is p*ssing me off) but these Uncharted sequences always get me going "oooomg!" when things start collapsing and you gotta run. Also, those leaps that look like you're barely going to make it never fail to make my stomach tense up for a second! Same with Tomb Raider...which obviously is very similar.
To me, it seems like something that would've been good for Black Flag multiplayer. I got bored during it's reveal because it looked like they really were just showing old footage of ACIV. I'm still unsure about Sea of Thieves but I like it's goofiness (being shot from a cannon) and the exploring part...just not a huge fan of online only.
My young nephew is visiting and he brought his Xbox One and some games I don't have. My wife and I started playing his Lego Movie game the other night and hopefully will get a chance again tonight. I also played his Forza Horizon 3. I'm not a huge lover of racing games so I wouldn't have ever bought FH3, but I'm really enjoying it and glad I'm getting a chance to play without ever buying it. He's 7 and thinks it's boring...maybe I should keep it! 😜
So if Days Gone and Spider-Man come out in the first half of 2018 along with God of War...will you guys copy and paste your articles from a couple months ago about it being the best year ever for gaming and just edit it to show next year's games? 😂 That'd be pretty amazing to have back to back years like that. Still glad that I got my PS4 just in time for all of this.
Really looking forward to this. I played a few hours of the first game on PS Now (never had a PS3). I liked it a lot but PS Now made it frustrating. It'd lag during boss fights and I was always worried about losing the connection when I hadn't saved for a while.
Fallout VR looks neat but (if I had VR) I wouldn't want to play the entire game over again really. I have The Evil Within but never got myself to finish it...so a sequel doesn't interest me too much right now. Definitely excited for Dishonored 2 DLC though and after that great Wolfenstein 2 trailer I feel the need to try the first one.
I missed most of it...I started right when the SWBF2 part started. Guess that was all worth watching. I went back checking for that other SW game but...nothin'. 😥
The closer we get, the harder the wait! The anticipation really is similar to Christmas! I'm just glad we haven't had any huge spoilers/leaks yet. knocks on wood
Wow, I wasn't aware of Unravel 2! I got the first one pretty cheap last year during an Xbox Summer Sale. I liked it a lot. I'll likely miss watching EA and Microsoft's conferences live. I may be home in time for Ubisoft. I work at a hotel and our hours depend on how many people are staying. 😏
This is so stupid. Yeah let's demand money (I assume?) and then force the company to NOT be able to finish the game or hold up development because they don't have the money to pay employees...
I voted for Spiderman b/c I want to see if it can match the Arkham games. I'm excited for TLOU2 but as others said, it feels like it's too far out. Not sure how I feel about the others. Just glad this year I can watch Sony's conference knowing I have a PS4 for all the games they show. Unlike last year when I was like, "these games look amazing! I really need a PS4! 😭"
I have a long list of games I want but not sure which one to buy next. So instead I was giving the Xbox GamePass free trial a go. There's not that many games I cared to really try (most of the big games I've already played) but I downloaded Shantae and the Pirates Curse and Max: The Curse of Brotherhood. Like them both so far.
I finished Persona 5 a few days ago and have forgotten how else to use my spare time. I spent 130 hours on it! Without anything to play at the moment I feel lost at night during my usual gaming time...that sounds kind of sad 😂. Not sure which game on my want list to try next. After spending so much time on one game I'm not really wanting to get sucked into another long experience right away.
My wife and I are super excited for this. I got the entire game for $8 in a sale last summer. I knew nothing about it but decided to give it a shot. It's now up there for both of us as one of the best gaming experiences we've ever had.
Mostly it'd be nice to get release dates. I know most of the big games we've seen are expected for next year...but "coming 2018" will be kind of annoying to see after a trailer..
I think I put something on here a couple months ago about this when it was first announced but was surprised no one said anything. That was before there were any pictures of it though.
This was great! I always like hearing about early concepts for games and movies and how things change over time and how the first ideas always seem so bad or ridiculous but eventually turn into something great. I also love Neil's thoughts on people who think they must identify with a character because it really bugs me when other men complain about having to play as a female.
@Simon_Fitzgerald I agree on bandit camps. It was satisfying hitting some headshots and changing it up from the usual machine fights. I didn't find it dull at all like I was expecting after reading the review here. Also, I was thinking how it's funny that many people refer to them as dino robots but really only 2-3 out of about 20 resemble any type of dinosaur..haha.
I'll add my only complaint, which I think I mentioned elsewhere before. The long stretches with no save points. I understand in palaces because that's the point of making it difficult and needing to find safe rooms...but I had a long stretch that included answering something in class, followed by a lengthy after school dialogue section, and then forced straight into something else that was quite time consuming with no chance to stop. When I finally got through all of it, my save was over an hour later. I needed to stop way before that but couldn't and didn't know it was going to get me into all of that. Unless I'm missing something that allows me to save and quit somewhere during that point.
I tell ya, since hooking up my PS4 on Christmas Day 2016...I've had nothing but great gaming experiences. All four Uncharted games, The Last of Us, Ratchet & Clank, Horizon Zero Dawn...and now Persona 5. Definitely has me hooked. I was super excited to finally beat the first boss today.
Just played the first 2.5 hours. I was getting a little ticked off though because I really needed to stop but it was never giving me the save option on the screen. Which may be a problem if I need to stop playing suddenly. Other than that, I'm really enjoying it. Already had a moment when I was like, "omg...this is freaking amazing!" 😀
Typically I play games on normal (bragging about difficulty settings is an ego thing anyways) but I'll probably play this on easy. It's my first Persona game and it's long enough already without having to fight a boss battle over and over or wasting time grinding. I play Witcher 3 on easy for the same reason.
I've been playing The Witcher 3. Honestly, for me, it's been hard to keep me interested after coming off Horizon. Last week I picked up from my most recent save which was from 2015 where I was level 13. I'm level 22 now and I'm not bored but it certainly isn't grabbing me like Horizon and that's probably why I never got far into it before. So I switched it up tonight and did a couple missions on Dishonored 2. Been awhile since I worked on my low chaos Corvo run.
@kyleforrester87 On the plus side, any games from the first half of the year that you haven't played yet will likely be a little cheaper in the later half and we can all finally catch up!
@ShogunRok Ah! I thought of something I don't think anyone asked about...trophies! How did you manage on your playthrough? Are they pretty straightforward? Any that are really hard or require a second run?
Kinda sucks because I like sharing to Twitter so I can save my screenshots to my phone and then delete the tweet. If they're trying to keep spoilers away then they need to remove all gameplay videos from Youtube as well. I know I've seen some titled "Persona 5 ending" while viewing a little bit of gameplay.
@ShogunRok My only concern is that, other than Pokemon, I don't play turn-based games. If the combat is more engaging and involved than that...I think I'll be fine! I should be...right?
I haven't played a baseball video game since MLB 2K09 and some of my favorite gaming memories were spending summers playing All Star Baseball 2000 & 2001 on N64. So now that I've been seeing gameplay for The Show it's really making me want to play a baseball game again (though it'll bore the heck out of my wife). I'll wait until after Persona 5 but I think summer will be a great time to play just like I used to do.
I guess it's good I still haven't played it yet. Maybe by Christmas they'll have a definitive version or whatever that comes with all the DLC and they'll be finished with updates.
I have fond memories of playing Medal of Honor Frontline and Rising Sun with my brother on our original Xbox. I don't think I've played anything WWII since then...so I'd be interested in this if it's true.
I finished and Platinumed Horizon earlier in the week and kind of felt lost! It was such a great game and I had so much fun that I didn't want it to end. I decided to jump back in to Witcher 3 on my XB1 for now. I haven't played it since probably August 2015. It was really hard at first because I couldn't remember how to do ANYTHING. Had to leave the Witcher contract my last save started me at so I could run around remembering controls and what everything was!
Exactly! Just look at my profile pic! 😍 haha Just crazy (and kind of pathetic) that someone out there couldn't enjoy the game because they thought she was "butt ugly."
@vegeta11 I played Murdered whenever it was free on Xbox GWG. I had no expectations going in but it ended up being really fun and I played until I had 100% completion. One of the few games I have 1000/1000G.
@ApostateMage Can you believe I saw people on a forum somewhere actually arguing over her being pretty or not? Someone was legitimately angry that he didn't find her sexually attractive! I never even thought about it once during the game...
