Ecosystem gaming has changed the market. People multiplatform less, plus it’s not a great time to spend big on systems right now economically (at least in the US).
Can tell that a lot of you don’t have much taste! They’re just riffing on the success of Alan Wake 2, which was an excellent game with two protagonists on an intertwining narrative.
Please! ***** EA. I hope they sell off all their quality IP’s to just run a bunch of garbage forever games. Let us intermediate to dedicated gamers (just ya know 60+% of us) enjoy our single players!
It sounds awesome! I’ll be sticking with my OG PS5 until it gives up the ghost, but I’m very excited to see the maximized end product of all this on the PS6 + handheld bundle for 700 USD in 2027 (speaking it into existence).
The discounts only hit them short term. As we’ve seen covered a lot this past year, we are in the ecosystem gaming era now more than ever. Those PS5’ers will likely be on board for at least an entire generation, if not longer. Good strategy that will pay dividends for a decade.
To me, the thing that sucks is that this is really only good for folks who have a PS Extra/Premium account and who have never played RDR1 (me). For us, it’s a perfect opportunity to play it and a great use of the PS subscription model. Maybe I’m wrong, but I don’t think that is the case for the vast majority of the PS gamers.
Been waiting for this to pull the proverbial trigger. Definitely getting one ASAP. Hopefully they’ll improve the Bluetooth audio options eventually, but, hey, I’ve still got a nice pair of wired headphones collecting dust on a bookshelf.
BTW if anyone is looking to get one, Costco has a 250 USD bundle (Portal +case +charging station) which I think is about 20-30 bucks cheaper than buying them separately.
@LogicStrikesAgain hate to break it to you, but the game of the year awards don’t track what the best games of the year are. More often than not, it’s the Steam charts. And once again, since you’re not really in the ecosphere, how would you actually know the quality of those games? You aren’t playing them.
Cloud streaming of digital games that I already own, even if it requires me upgrading to Premium, is the final thing I need to make PS Portal ownership worth it.
@LogicStrikesAgain you’re not a PC gamer clearly. If you were, you’d know all those games. *****, I’m not even a PC gamer and I know all those games. 😂
Ugh, God, how tone deaf. He wants them to be the Office of gaming? They really learned nothing from the Xbox One. Office was/is nearly a monopoly. Xbox will NEVER be that for gaming, even if they own 2/3 of the major development companies. There will always be more options out there, and the opportunity for new AAA and AA competition will only grow.

As long as it scratches my Burnout itch, I’m in.
Re: Final Fantasy Tactics: The Ivalice Chronicles Sees in the New Year with Major Sales Milestone
I love Square Enix so much. They never know how to evaluate their titles. I’ll be 1,000,000+1 sometime this year.

Re: PS5 Exclusive Dino Shooter Code Violet Has Gone Gold, Delayed to January 2026
I’m just not sure. The gameplay I’ve seen…there’s just something weird about it. It just doesn’t feel like a real game. Here’s to hoping I’m wrong.

Re: Chrono Trigger Revival Hopes Have Been Reignited Yet Again
I don’t care what they do, JUST DO IT!!
1) Rerelease the DS version but for all platforms. I’d play the hell out of it on my Portal.
2) Give it the DQ7/Trails in the Dky treatment. Keep the tone the same, just tasteful 3-D rendition.
3) BOTH!!
Re: SEGA Actually Admits Persona 5 Royal-Style Re-Releases May Result in Stunted Game Sales
Atlus games are fantastic, but Atlus thinks they’re better than they actually are. They have such a massive (legitimately earned) ego.

If Rockstar actually cared about being the greatest game company in the world rather than the richest, we’d all be so much better off. Hah
