Honestly hoping this is as good as it looks. Gachas are the only modern games that haven't disappointed me somehow, Honkai Star rail and Genshin are part of my daily routine. I don't care what the monetisation is so long as the game is good. I used to think otherwise but after microtransaction free outwardly pro consumer games like Veilguard ended up being hot garbage I kinda just want something decent no matter what.
Nothing tbh. Even on other platforms. This year my hype was dragon’s dogma ii, elden ring dlc and the thousand year door remake. Only the latter didn’t disappoint. There’s one or two xbox rpg’s I expect to be not be so great and an expansion for wow I’m iffy on.
I should be hyped for dragon age but idk man, it’s been 10 years and this one is going even more in a direction I didn’t like back then. I’ll probably just use the latter half of the year on my handful of persistent games, a few replays and getting on with my backlog. Enjoying Ragnarok this month made me eye PlayStation’s other title’s I’d previously dismissed. Ghosts of Tsushima still has that DLC I need to play too.
It depends. I like a moderate challenge. Which Elden Ring’s base game was bar two bosses which I was fine being the exceptions.
I beat the recent DLC but the difficulty or perhaps more accurately the antagonistic boss design put me off. It feels like the bosses were designed for content creators to show off their weird cheeses or obscure builds. Like they were made in response to that Malenia pot headed guy who helps people newt her, all to try and get more viral stories like that.
In the end my victories came down to the luck of them not doing the bad combo at the wrong time and bleed being overpowered as hell on the right weapon. I don’t feel proud like I do for beating Malenia and Elden Beast. I just feel like I was overcharged for a pretty awful and unenjoyable DLC.
As for games in general outside of souls likes. Honestly I’m more a sucker for power fantasy games like Skyrim, Cyberpunk etc. I played God of War Ragnarok on easy because I felt like that’s the kind of power level Kratos would be at. If I’m doing a non-dragonborn roleplaythrough of Skyrim I grab a bunch of difficulty mods to play into the fantasy of it. (Injuries, realistic damage, no health regen, death alternatives where I lose gear etc).
Honestly if they can get my PS3 discs working on PS5 or PS6 they’ve got me. It was my favourite generation by far.
I’ll take them digitally too but ideally my three shelves of discs could be put to use so I could retire my poor haggard PS3 before the disc laser gives out AGAIN.
The first two InFamous games, the OG God of War games (The entire series is on PS3) and so many more third party games. PS5 would easily become a daily facet of my life instead of the once every few months thing it currently is.
It was gonna be elden ring but the DLC is kinda horrible so I put it down after finishing the main ‘story’ bosses and went back to god of war Ragnarok. I really didn’t like the latter originally but came back after someone showed me valhalla and I’ve honestly been loving it. I expected it to just be a filler game.
Super strong demo but the middle of the game dragged and tried so hard to be grimdark that it lost believability as a setting. Ending felt unearned. Combat was okay. Honestly I tend to forget it exists outside of occasionally seeing event items in ff14.
I loved Elden RIng at launch but this DLC is a microcosm of everything I hated about it. Overly aggressive bosses that fight your screen as much as you that're meant to be cheesed more than fought properly. Every boss is trying to be the next Melenia or launch patch (1.0) Radahn and it just sucks.
I platinum’d the first three. I won’t be picking up this one at launch though, kinda hate the direction they’ve taken the setting. I was already disappointed by Inquisition but the last 10 years of non-game content made me realise this setting just isn’t for me anymore. The aesthetics just fell off a cliff. I miss Origins/Awakening and even II’s style.
It’s a pretty bad game made worse by the fact the PS4/PS5 version is the worst version of it. Same with Skyrim. And honestly all of bethesda’s games. Before it was performance, now it’s Sony’s awful anti-modding policy.
God no. The NPC’s wound up making the game worse rather than better. It’s largely a skinnerbox with an egregious store. The battle royale was ironically the most fun I had with it and that’s long gone.
Nah, 16 had a great start but it quickly became tedious and I grew to hate the story. No desire to play any of the DLC and I regret my initial purchase. It’s a shame because I adored that demo.
@BeerIsAwesome Idk man redoing combat and perks entirely, adding a ton of stuff and fixes plus a really damn good DLC kinda make it deserve that award.
Great combat. Really fun to play but way too damn short. It’s like 20-25 hours long if you just do quests as they come to you. By the end of NG+ I was on 40 hours having seen pretty much everything and fully explored the map. Many of those hours were spent backtracking too. All that was left was grinding the vocations but at that point there’s nothing left to really challenge me.
Still I’d give it a 7 or 8 out of 10. I thoroughly enjoyed what I played I just wish there was more than the 10 hours or so of main story and the chunk of tragically mediocre side content. Great sandbox with a lot of unrealised potential.
Kinda regret getting this for PS4. It was an incredibly uncomfortable playthrough of what was otherwise a pretty good game. But it boiled my room right in the middle of summer with how hot it made my console…
I think we'll definitely see a more aggressive move into the PC market. I think Helldivers 2 is probably gonna be the blueprint they look to for their future titles.
Didn't like Outer Worlds or Valhalla but I'm willing to give both a second try if I find the time. Especially since spacers choice edition comes with DLC for the former which I hear is better than the main game.
Fable II if it somehow got a port. Wouldn't touch the new Fable even on xbox though. Other than Bethesda's Elder Scrolls and Fallout nothing else interests me and those are always worst on playstation due to sony's modding policy.
I have an xbox and PC but all their exclusives since the 360 era have sucked. And all their future ones look pretty bad too.
I’m more interested in the xbox handheld rumours, the Steam Deck proved too volatile for me so something that lets me play modded skyrim (No SKSE on xbox but the bethesda mod site actually has mods unlike PC where you gotta go through vortex/MO2 which aren’t linux compatible without way too much effort) and fable 2 on the go would be an instant buy.
Seen a lot of concerning stuff about the future xbox has planned. Including a unified account across gaming, hope that part is resisted by Nintendo and Sony.
AI in this context isn't what people think it is, he's talking about using it to help in the development pipeline. Making things like texturing and adjusting models faster. World of Warcraft uses AI to resize helmets to fit all races for example. I doubt he means using it in a way that'll be perceptable to the player.
Hope they find someone to publish it soon. Been a fan of them since Risen on the Xbox 360 and went back to play the Gothic games too, they're truly unique with their design. We don't get many Eurojank AA games these days. Everything's always overdesigned movie slop or god forbid, Starfield.
Feels like I own plague tale like 10 times with all the giveaways but if I do play it, it’ll be on PS5 so that’s a win for me. Don’t care about the others at all.
I’d love to see the PS2 and PSP games remastered. Always annoyed me that PS3 and older isn’t backwards compatible anymore. I don’t like the norse god of wars at all but the greek ones hold a special place in my heart.
I don’t care how they look but if they could remove button mashing from the QTE’s for accessibility I’d love it. My aging fingers can’t handle that anymore.
This gen’s been a letdown. But then I haven’t really loved any Sony First Party game since the PS3 era. But it’s nice to play some of my third party ps4 games on an ssd though. Only really bought it on a whim last year for Ragnarok, but I wound up hating it, it’s mostly gathered dust these days and it looks hideous and is a pain to find somewhere to put it due to the awkward shape.
The PS5 is the single ugliest console from a hardware perspective I’ve owned. And it’s impractical as hell. This is a mild improvement but it still looks like it needs a banana taping to it before shoving it in a modern “art” museum.
If I could stream anywhere I had internet from a cloud server rather than my own PS5 it’d be an instant buy. As it is, it’s overpriced and criminally useless. Not to mention ugly as sin.
But also paradoxically a very, very good one. It has issues, quite a few. But it’s the first game since elden ring I’ve played for two weeks straight. I hope Larian continue to remain independent and brilliant.
And it still looks hideous. Whoever’s been designing PlayStation’s Aesthetic since the PS3 should be fired. Impractical, ugly and they always run hotter than they should.
It’s a pretty damn fun game. Really enjoying AAA-budget presentation in such a niche genre. Usually I can’t stand dnd games and while I definitely prefer original sin 2’s gameplay this ain’t too bad at all.

Re: Genshin Impact, Honkai: Star Rail Maker Reveals Next-Gen Open World Powered by Unreal Engine 5
The character models look super uncanny to me. But it's the most interesting of the three games they've got in development.

Nice. I'd probably sign in anyway for the trophies but it being -forced- kinda puts a lifetime on this game I'm not comfortable with.

Re: Elden Ring DLC Made Easier with New PS5, PS4 Calibration Update
Not gonna be too big a help on the last boss as the issue is they don’t have enough openings to even get a good hit in.

Re: Poll: How Much Do You Care About 60fps on PS5?
60 is a must. I think the over-focus on graphics is harming the industry. Particularly when there’s so many diminishing returns now.
