Gives them 10 years and 2 console generations to get word out that Call of Duty is going to be only on Xbox. To just pull it right away would create a void another company or game could fill. Casuals won’t buy another console this early into a generation. So this makes sense from an xbox perspective. Get people used to seeing the xbox logo on boot up. Get them used to the idea that it’ll only be on xbox. Then pull the plug if enough swap to whatever next gen xbox they’re cooking.
The FTC's arguments were shambolic. They didn't even do a basic amount of research on the industry and just picked a bunch of irrelevent console war talking points.
FF16 was SO CLOSE but horrific pacing, dropped or brushed over plot points and an incredibly underwhelming ending significantly hampered the experience for me.
Hogwarts Legacy had a painfully forgettable plot but a great setting and combat that kinda put it above FF16 for me. Granted I played this on PC where it was significantly cheaper.
Does Chained Echoes count? It released in December 2022 and I played it on game pass for PC rather than PlayStation but god damn is it a great classic-style JRPG.
Only other PlayStation-releasing game I plan to play this year is Baldur’s Gate 3. Again on PC though. The rest are Starfield, Fallout London and the Super Mario RPG remake.
So long as it's good content then that's great. I'm a big lover of Larian Turn Based Combat. I still haven't played BG1 and 2 because of how much I hate real time with pause.
Thank god. Starfield would’ve won out but I’ve been a fan of Larian’s work since Divinity 2 Ego Draconis. I didn’t wanna have to miss the launch and feel rushed with either game.
A 6. I loved it at first but pacing issues and how padded the game was really hampered my ability to enjoy it. The ending was also really kinda just... I mean I guess it happened? Not much to really say about it other than it was a bit of a let down. Doubt I'll be getting the DLC.
@Suda52 Steam's a must for PC players because the Microsoft versions of Bethesda games are all locked down and don't allow things like script extender. Here's hoping Steam continues to be more free to mod, wouldn't mind seeing Starfield totally DRM free and up on GOG some day.
Better Microsoft than Sony. If sony was a little more PC and mod friendly then maybe I'd have some sympathy but Starfield locked to just mods that use pre-existing assets? That'd kill the game dead. Sony's mod policy is abysmal.
Also for everyone saying he's lying, he said this in court. He wouldn't risk legal trouble over this lmao.
Not that I like exclusivity at all and I hope it does come to PlayStation one day. Same as I hope PlayStation Exclusives one day come to Xbox and PC. But Bethesda was desperate and practically on fire due to financial mismanagement form the higher ups. They were gonna sell to someone and as someone who has enjoyed modded Skyrim for almost twelve years... better Xbox than PlayStation.
I mean I don’t expect it to. PlayStation always got the worst version Bethesda games. Skyrim on PS3 had unacceptable latency and framerate issues. Skyrim and Fallout 4 on PS4 and PS5 has the worst mods (You can thank Sony’s anti-modding policy for that one). Plus Xbox always bought DLC timed exclusivity. So it’s not the biggest loss.
Still as someone who is currently obsessively trying to 100% Skyrim on every platform I’d be happy to see it on PS5 too. Even if it would be a vastly inferior version (Again, because of Sony).
I don’t like Xbox hoovering up studios but where Bethesda is concerned better them than Sony who just never seemed to “get” why Bethesda games have such a long life
Loved ELEX 1 but never got around to 2 (Curse of it releasing around the time Elden Ring did). Will be happy to finally play it once I'm done with FF16. PlayStation+ really hitting it out of the park and filling in gaps gamepass left for me. Shame there's no PC support...
Wasn't sure about that intro but then it knocked it out of the park, really excited to play it, first PlayStation game of the generation I expect to like.
I don't care much for Sony's exclusives personally, they're not my kind of games (Except for Bloodborne and Demons Souls). But please put more effort into your ports in the future Sony.
I really wish there was some in-depth predictions on what'd happen.
Like what happens if the US and EU approve but the UK sticks with it's decision? What happens if the US don't reach a decision by the deadline? I know ActiBlizz gets 3 billion but do they refile the merger or is that impossible?
This stuff fascinates me, I want to have all the information about it I can get.
@Northern_munkey That's not really how it works unless a deal was signed. Microsoft, for example, can't just stick all their Final Fantasy games back on gamepass even if those games released for Xbox.
I really wish Sony did genres other than single player cinematic action games with often unnecessary lite RPG elements.
I get that and why they’re popular but I stuck with the PS3 that entire generation because of Little Big Planet with a little help from InFamous and the old God of War games.
Why not take a crack at a full RPG or a less movie-feeling sorta game…
I don't know how I want this to go really as an omni gamer. On the one hand, Microsoft owns a hell of a lot of IP right now... on the other second in line to bid on ActiBlizz was facebook and I do not want them having such a huge foothold in the gaming industry. Let alone having to use Facebook to log into World of Warcraft or something daft.
Only game I bought for that price tag was god of war ragnarok and I hated it so much it pretty much put me off ever paying full price again. Wound up getting Hogwarts Legacy on PC via a third party key reseller for a huge discount and have kinda continued to do that over buying games for consoles.
I'll be subbing to PS+ to get the essentials collection, but Chivilry looks fun. Descenders was also really fun when I played it on gamepass so that's pretty neat.

@sanderson72 Yeah, as someone whose secondary main is a Bosmer this still hurts.

Re: Poll: Are You Happy with Your PS Plus Essential Games for July 2023?
Nothing there for me this month. Hope the extra tier makes up for it.

Re: Avatar: The Last Airbender: Quest for Balance Bends the Elements on PS5, PS4 in 2023
Characters look fine but those environments are a bit off. Hope it's good. I really liked the four nations tile game from the older one.

Re: Canada Joins UK, US in Blocking Microsoft's Activision Blizzard Buyout
They aren't blocking it, just voicing concern. Good but not significant enough to stop the FTC likely losing this fight.
God I hate the console war bait this site puts out. But then again I keep clicking on it...

They wound up not buying those studios. But hey, console companies gonna console companies.

Re: Poll: Are You Playing Final Fantasy 16?
@MattBoothDev Hated both of them personally. Regret buying Ragnarok despite not liking 2018 that much. GoW just isn’t for me anymore.
Re: Poll: Are You Playing Final Fantasy 16?
Playing it and loving it. Gives me OG God of War vibes with the combat and spectacal. GoW 2018 and Ragnarok SHOULD have been this.
