Re: Round Up: The Last of Us 2's TV Show Reviews Aren't Quite a Hole in One for Sony, HBO

People who have the time to go on gaming enthusiast websites will often be of two extremes. They either love it and want to post about it or they hate it and want to post about it. The average person will watch the thing, either like it or not like it and just go about their day. Maybe they'll bring it up to friends or coworkers but that's the extent of their interaction with a show. So when you go online to see what people are saying, remember you're seeing the most passionate people in the fanbase, which can feel like they're reacting in the extreme.

Re: Monster Hunter Wilds' Massive Update Out Now, Here Are All the Patch Notes

I just beat both Mizu and Zho Shia solo but I'm not satisfied with the Zho fight...took me a bit too long and I carted twice so I look forward to mastering it. I expect a lot of failed missions with randos attempting this hunt and I'm there for it.

The arena quests are a real challenge too. Forced to use their load outs means you can't just take your Arkveld gear and tank every hit. One swipe from Rathian nearly killed me. I don't think I'll chase the leaderboard but it's also a fun way to experiment with new weapons and interesting load outs. Overall I think this update was excellent and I look forward to what the future holds for this game.

Re: Genshin Impact Community in Flames as English Cast Turn on New Voice Actor

The Luddites once thought they could destroy machines. They thought they could halt progress. The thing is that AI realistically is just too useful.

Humans will always choose the most convenient path. Anything that makes life easier. I'm not going to say that they should just submit to having their voices taken but this seems like a losing battle.

AI will continue to have a bigger and bigger impact and honestly, in some instances, I can even see it being a good thing. When you talk to a character in a less important event for example...those lines of dialogue usually aren't voiced anyway. Now with AI, they would be voiced all the time. No line of dialogue, no matter how small, would need to go without a voice to accompany it. I do hope that they can come to an agreement rather than fight over its existence because AI just isn't going anywhere.

Re: Disrespectful Foreign Tourists Force Closure of Japanese Shrine Fixed by Ghost of Tsushima Fans

People like Johnny Somali have done more to damage relations with foreign countries than any political policy. They go to these places and expect to be catered to or forgiven and it upsets me greatly. Do research before you take a trip somewhere. Learn the Dos and Don'ts. Not only will you have a better time during your vacation but the locals there will respect you more for taking the time to understand their rich culture and traditions.

Re: Assassin's Creed Shadows Broke PS Store Sales Records for Ubisoft

Personally I just find it funny that everyone is now willing to excuse Ubisoft's past transgressions against the industry, holding them up as some holy paragon of justice...all because they perceive that the company has managed to "own the chuds."

In truth Ubisoft is still a scumbag of a publisher, up there with the likes of Activision and EA. They are responsible for many of the modern woes we suffer in gaming and while I don't want people to lose their jobs, I really DO believe the industry would be better off without them.

But yes, chuds owned. Redeemed.

Re: At a Tumultuous Time, Assassin's Creed Shadows Is Doing the Business for Ubisoft

Yes, I'm sure consumers were absolutely clamoring for the NFT games that Ubisoft desperately wanted to push on us a year ago. They absolutely do try to force change and sometimes it works (battlepasses, microtransactions) and sometimes it doesn't (online passes, NFTs). By presenting us with a problem -slower progression for example- they can then offer us a solution that we think we know need (exp boosters). The trick is always "How do we make these suckers think that they need this?" And they're really good at it.

Re: Feb 2025 USA Sales: Monster Hunter Wilds the New Best-Selling Game of the Year So Far

@Nepp67
You must not play with randoms very much because they're constantly getting wrecked against various tempered monsters. It gets so bad that I just start doing them solo because everyone keeps dying and quests keep failing.

I just find it funny that we're still going with this stereotype that "haha game reviewers must all be bad!" Like, is that a qualification to get hired? I should ask pushsquare if there's a box one needs to check that says "Yes, I suck at games."

Re: Iconic Game Maker Says Japanese Devs Should Stop Trying to Appeal to Westerners

ATaco

@breakneck
A lot of studios cater to the west in that they often bow to our sensibilities rather than focus on their own culture. We've been seeing a lot of things being cut out of changed that wouldn't have been in the past, simply because it would be problematic for a western audience to experience. There is growing outrage over these changes from the Japanese audience, who do not believe they should have to submit to our sensibilities. The most recent thing I can think of was in dragon quest remake where they changed the designs of the outfits to make them more modest (even on the Japanese versions) and got backlash from their Japanese audience. We need to remember that we're not the center of the world and that if we want to play games from other countries we should be prepared to engage with things we don't agree with.

Re: Ubisoft Will Reportedly Fight for Assassin's Creed Shadows, Anti-Harassment Plan in Place

ATaco

@PegasusActual93
Fair enough, I'll be keeping a keen eye to see if Ubisoft sticks to only the ones actually harassing people.

You guys need to understand that this could be Ubisoft's last chance. If this game flops too, they'll have nothing left. In this desperate stage you don't think they'll try their hardest to stop people from bad mouthing the game? What's the cost of a few lawyers if it means you don't lose the company? This is their last shot and you'd better believe they're going to try every trick in the book.
