Following on from the introduction of Monster Hunter Wilds' first seasonal festival, players can now test their skills against a fearsome new foe.
Available to fight right now through its own event quest, Arch-Tempered Rey Dau is a much more powerful version of the lightning-based creature. And, if you're able to bring it down, you'll be rewarded with a new Rey Dau Gamma armour set (well, once you've carved the necessary materials).
Arch-Tempered Rey Dau should provide a relatively sturdy challenge for more experienced players. You may recall that Wilds was criticised by some for being too easy when it launched, but Capcom's been adding increasingly deadly monsters at a steady pace ever since.

This powered-up beast boasts some new attacks alongside lighting blasts that are even more lethal. If you don't have a shield, you'd best start practicing those dodge rolls.
Will you be taking Rey Dau on in this fresh Arch-Tempered quest? Be sure to show off your sparkly new armour set in the comments section below.

That did not quite feel as long or hard as I was expecting which is kind of disappointing, lasted me 21 minutes like a lot of other fights and the added attack didn't even make much of a change in the fight. Still a fun fight though, but the final boss they added back was much tougher imo.
@Nepp67 That first sentence can be taken so far out of context (sorry school boy humour)
@Oram77 You're good, I had a feeling I was gonna get a comment like thar tbh dx
Way too easy. Really disappointing!!
Someone hide my copy of Expedition 33 so I can play this.
@Splat I will probably sneak away with it so I can play since the devs ran out of physical copies for me to buy dx
The people saying it's too easy once again are not playing with randoms. Currently I'm at a 50% success rate in actually finishing the quest because people keep dying. We really don't need anything harder right now.
@ATaco Use a ton of powders or even mushroomancer/wide range. Take responsibility for your randoms.
AT Rey Dau is undertuned, he should have multiple ohko attacks (he has zero!) and should topple way less often from wound breaks
@VaultGuy415
I just think we're playing different games at this point. Not all of us want or expect monster hunter to be souls like difficulty. This is a good challenge without being "one mistake and you're dead" which is never really what Monhunt was about.
What I'm talking about is not like Souls at all. Tempereds and ATs are supposed to be hard enough to justify some minmaxing. There's no point in gearing up if the monsters are pushovers.
Tempered Mizu has a OHKO but the AT doesn't — it doesn't make sense. Worse, they made woundpopping too OP. It's a major design flaw that has resulted in Story mode difficulty. Everyone is complaining about this stuff for a reason.
Beat it in about 25 mins solo after not playing since Zoh Shia. Feels like we're heading in the right direction for difficulty IMO. Excited for AT Gore Magala and AT Arkveld whenever they finally decide to roll them out!
