@CielloArc My thoughts exactly!
Edit: I scrolled the homepage at least twice and thought so both / all times. Went in here to see if other people felt so
I feel like CTR:NF being left on 30 fps and abandoned after a year is one of the biggest kart racing disappointments in history. I know Mario Kart has a huge fan-base too, but the two don't really compete. Seeing this, I don't think it would stand a tiny chance, if CTR was still (or ever) taken seriously be the re-developers. Such a damn shame.
Looks to me like this game solely has potential because it's new and has barely any competition. Sad times for the kart racing. I hope those who are hyped for it have a great time with it, but new karting games only remind me of the heartbreak of CTR. <3
I find it kinda incredible how blind such a big company can be to what their consumers want. Not sure they got what they 'deserved', but I hope this serves as a lesson not to simply copy latest trends.... Make quality games the old-fashioned way; with passion and a focus on the experience - NOT what 'everybody else' has already done.... :/
Having an absolute blast with NFS: Unbound. It seems I'm having a more positive experience with the game than those who've played the previous entries in the series (I haven't played NFS en about a decade)... Been a while since I felt such a thrill from a racing game, and I'm just loving the customization. I'm also actually appreciating the art style, though I was sceptical when I first saw it upon release... That and Rocket League, my forever game
@Dodoo I think you underestimate the effects of such comments on a larger scale. It may seem like an aggressive comparison, but to me it's like being confronted with the toxicity of something and then responding with 'well, it was just a joke' or 'well, I would never say it in front of them' - usually used for topics of sexism or racism. This is a public forum and anyone can read these comments and be further (negatively) affected by the extreme pressure on (especially) women to live up to beauty standards, certain appropriate behaviour and so on. I'm not trying to villainize you, but to make you aware of how "your" comments can be read.
On the topic of Lara Croft; she's had multiple depictions over the decades, and it's not like she originally looked like a real human at all. Do you want realistic games? Do you want entertaining or interesting games? Do you play Tomb Raider just to look at Lara Croft?
Now, I understand the disappointment that people can feel when a memorable character looks different. One that springs to mind is how Ellie from TLoU looks quite different in the HBO series from the games. But to me, Lara here could absolutely be a modern version of 'the original Lara Croft' (which was basically a low-poly doll figure with pretty unrealistic proportions).
Holy moly. The immaturity (or ignorance) of the comment section here is astounding. Perhaps her face holding a somewhat aggressive expression, that of anger/force/revenge/mercilessness is what triggers your reductive understanding of femininity?
Questions to consider: 1: Does every woman look the same? no. 2: Is the game about how she looks? no.
For the sake of yourself + the women you may encounter in your life, please broaden your horizon for what is allowed to be 'womanly'. Seriously. For the sake of quality gaming, perhaps focus more on the content and experience of a game, rather than whether the character lives up the ridiculous beauty standards.
@PlayStationGamer3919 well, maybe I’ll feel that way the next time I play, but I didnt so far - I specifically felt disappointed that it didnt Control more like RL. Guess we’ll have to disagree then
@PlayStationGamer3919 I've been playing RL since the beta, and I really don't think it plays anything like it. It has some of the cars, yes, but it feels completely different to me. Does it feel the same to you, and if ys, what feels the same?
The title for this article is severely misleading Here I was, ready to boot my PS5 to update CTRNF just to try it out, and it's not a patch at all but some individual's personal achievement. Although the content of the article would have gotten my attention anyway, this was very disappointing. Shame on you for writing it like that /:
@Vacuumator It probably took quite a few game-engine workouts to get it to function as well as it seems to do - We could have maybe had a more simple version of the idea a bit earlier, but I think the 'instant' environmental changes in the game also requires quite a high standard of hardware... I believe the current simplicity of the level supports this. I may be wrong though
I've never really been into the fantasy MMORPG genre, but this looked surprisingly intriguing to me. I probably won't buy it, but I might look into it at some point, which is kind of a first.
@BeerIsAwesome Oh if only the "Activision is nothing if not stubborn. Expect this one to stick around."-part was true for the original CTR franchise (Crash Team Racing)... I'm still sad and disappointed about the way the remake was handled: 30fps locked, no ps5 version, etc.
If this is close to what Crash Bash had/did, then it may be of great value to a lot of people, I believe. What I immediately don't understand, is that they choose to name it Crash Team Rumble... As in CTR... Which was formerly used for Crash Team Racing.. Are they actively trying to bury anything that has to do with CTR and its sad 'left to rot on ps4' story? /:
Honestly, MW 2019 and this year's sequel are the only COD games I've been a bit hyped about for the last 10 years. For me, I'm happy as long as I get those two, but I still find it somewhat gross to make any game platform exclusive that wasn't actually originally designed as such. Even platform-exclusive originals are a little sad to me. I'd love to have the Forza series on PS, and I pity the Xboxers for not having Uncharted, TLOU, and other gems... Oh well - Capitalism, our old 'friend'...
That first "battle scene" was an instant throwback to the ps2-era of "high quality" cut-scenes or intros to games... Looked strangely dated to me. I am aware, of course, that graphics aren't everything, and I hope people have fun with this game - It's not my genre of game
I feel like the only thing making this look decent is the amount of nostalgia associated with the original... It seems clunky, oddly paced, AI-mindless, and not very interesting /: I hope more news and info will make it seem worth looking more into - perhaps the multiplayer will show some promise...
What I struggle to understand is how it seems like 'part II' still looks better... is my mind playing tricks on me? Is it just a case of bad video quality or are they perhaps trying not to outshine part II to keep them as a two-part story that looks very similar?
@Ashina Hehe, I think you're right. Nothing but maybe the Returnal news really speaks to me, but I'm glad if the other announcements excite other people!
@Tharsman Right... The way I understood that 'announcement' was that Online could be accessed independently of owning the base game, but I never thought that the base game was sold without including GTAO access... So yeah, that would be like RDR2, I believe
@Tharsman How on earth would they justify making it separate purchases?? Wow, that would be yet another ***** storm for them - not that I don't think they 'deserve' it...
I went to this comment section to thank you for putting the '3 months timed exclusive' part in the sub-text to the article, instead of click-baiting. It's greatly appreciated.
Is there no possible outcome where the anniversary surprise is that they're remaking the map to join GTA online?
Honestly, if they actually properly polished GTA V and made it feel slightly new on PS5 + this in store for all online players, I... I think that would work...
That would, of course, sadly be unrealistic, unless they also found a way to charge the existing player base more money for the new content... right?
The only thing I'm missing while playing is a greater sense of speed... The whole thing just seems unnecessarily slow. Otherwise, it's great entertainment!
