You could comfortably argue that Deep Down is the best looking PlayStation 4 exclusive announced at the moment, but publisher Capcom doesn’t agree. Despite originally being poised to poke its way into beta around the time of the next generation console’s launch in Japan, the company has now confirmed that eager gamers may be waiting until after the summer to step into their medieval armour.
“About Deep Down, I think that we'll give full fledged information to everyone after the summer, so you may have to wait for a little while beyond the launch [of the PS4] on 22nd February,” said producer Kazunori Sugiura in an interview with Dengeki Online. “Since we don't want to risk being told ‘This could have been done on the PlayStation 3' we want to finish a game that fully uses the PS4's hardware specs.”
We suppose that it’s an admirable move, but the cynic in us can’t help but wonder if it has bigger issues with the title’s ambitious concept. For those out of the loop, the free-to-play title will see you travelling through time to fight a variety of beasts in randomly generated dungeons. But despite already boasting the fanciest fire physics that we’ve ever seen, the developer clearly believes that it can polish them up a little further. We’re expecting some seriously hot stuff when the title eventually deploys.

hey if they take the time to make it even better then it's fine if they delay it
If Capcom wasn't such a pathetic joke these days I could maybe see these as a potential good thing. I truly believe this is just so it can be turned into a full $60 retail release laced with microtransactions and, in true modern day Capcom style, disc locked content. I'd love these sleazy scumbags to prove me wrong, but won't count on it.
Well im just glad its not another street fighter, sad to see it not releasing on time
Wow, so many delays... This generation going to be generation of delays even more than pastgen was. Eh.... Reality is so cruel.
@Gemuarto
What bothers me more is why the delay happened. Capcom can give the graphics excuse all it wants, I think there's something a bit more sinister- for lack of a better word- going on. Guess we'll find out at E3.
I don't mind delays so long as the final product shows that it was beneficial. Capcom has really been tying to redeem themselves lately and if this helps them do it, then they should take their time.
being told ‘This could have been done on the PlayStation 3???
not sure what to think of this... was there a 'risk'?
@Gamer83 I see many games are delayed untill summer. Maybe it has something to do with The Last of Us sales =). I mean, usually there are no big realeses in summer, developers prefare other seasons. But The Last of Us proved that people want new games in summer, too =). LOL =).
@Gemuarto
But will this game be a summer release? I think we'll just hear about it in the summer, maybe get a beta but full release won't be until mid-September at the earliest. And I think it's being turned to a $60 retail release with other price gauging schemes. This is Capcom we're talking about.
@Gamer83 Maybe they'ii realese it later, not sure. But I don't think that it'll be 60$ game. People will not buy game where all dungeons are generated randomly and no actual story. It was created around F2P conception. And I doubt it will work otherwise. Also, I think that in core, Deep Down is similiar to Warframe. So, it'll be really funny, if they sell it for 60$, considering that Warframe is free. Yeah, this game looks more polished and have huge bosses (not sure if Warframe has bosses). But overall... Anyway, we just can guess about real reasons untill someone will tell the truth or something. Words about making graphcis better look like real BS to me =). It's F2P game after all, and they just can update graphics with patch any time they want. Blizzard made this with WoW and NamcoBandai with Tekken Revolution, for example.
@Gamer83 maybe you are right about 60$. But then, it should be whole different game. Something like Dark Souls or Monster Hunter at least.
@Gemuarto they know we'd all play MH on 4 till we'd die : )
@charlesnarles I will 100% buy, if they make MH clone. But I doubt they'll make it, because Capcom is all about mobile and F2P at the moment. It's their new strategy =).
Here we go again!
I don't think this is a good idea for a FTP game. If this has a completely rebalanced model, then it'll work if it's a premium game in the end, or can be purchased as such instead of FTP without the FTP messing with the premium model.
I'm a Sony fanboy but this is the Delaystation4.
I'm looking forward to what it might offer but I'm not getting my hopes up. Let's wait and see what crawls out of the bag.
@KAPADO
Yup, Delaystation4 is right. Only thing we can do now is hope Capcom is delaying this to make it better for gamers, I seriously doubt it but guess we'll know in four or so months.
I expected this game to be the best game ever for PS4, especially after seeing that first trailer, then they announced it as free2play then the new trailers with stupid music and lame ass voice overs from the future, this game has been RUINED, they need to work extra hard for me to get back interested in this game!!!
Capcom, just scrap Deep Down completely and develop and officially release "Dragon's Dogma Online" for the PS4, PS3, and PC console systems in Japan, Europe, and in the United States of America this year or very early next year somehow officially please dammit!!!
