Posted by Sammy Barker

Snap judgement

There’s always a sense of deflation when you anticipate a moment for so long that it passes in the blink of an eye. We’ve spent the past nine months or so building up to the PlayStation 4’s launch, and now it’s already gone in North America. While there’s still the excitement of the European release to come, we hope that the product’s more than making up for any oncoming blues.

We’ve already asked for your first impressions on the next generation console, as well as your thoughts on the user interface and social features – but now we want to know how you’d rate your first weekend with Sony’s newest system. Is the console living up to your expectations, or are you a little bit disappointed with your purchase?

If you’re feeling letdown, then what do you want to improve most right now? Is the software lineup making you scowl? Do you think that the interface is a nightmare to navigate? Is the DualShock 4’s light bar driving you mad? Conversely, what is it that’s making you smile? Are you thrilled with exclusives Killzone: Shadow Fall and Knack? Do you love the system’s slick form factor?

Flesh out our brief poll below, and then jump into the comments section to share your first weekend impressions with Sony’s slick new super machine. What did you spend most of your time playing on Saturday and Sunday? Have you managed to unlock many Trophies yet? What do your friends and family think of the device? Tap the radio buttons and animate your online gob below.

Yeah I think I played a little bit of every game with the exception of the sports games and Knack. I think the launch weekend went pretty well considering it was a launch weekend.

inFamous Second Son easily tops my most-wanted game list right now, for any console.

As far as launch weekend, I finally got to play a bunch of Killzone and Injustice on Sunday, really like Killzone and I already knew Injustice rocked. Gotta say, I love the DualShock4, it's as close to perfect as a game controller can get.

I've had a lot of fun this weekend. I was surprised that I enjoyed games like Blacklight, Warframe and Resogun more than the ones I actually paid for. I did play AC4 a lot today though. Couldn't tear myself away from my ship!

Didn't get to play quite as much as I'd hoped, since I was stuck at work most of the weekend, but I've really enjoyed my time with it so far. The poll about the best feature of the console so far really should have included an option for remote play. It's been great to be able to play games anywhere in my house.

Love almost all of it. Kill zone looks great - first and third full levels look wow.

Couple of weird things though. I did something sort of funny on ac4 and I wanted to share it. But it looks like I have to share the whole last 15 minutes? I was under the impression that while it has the last fifteen minutes, you could take any portion of that you like.

Also, is there a way to remap the buttons for remote play? Killzone was a little awkward with that when I tested it out for a minute.

I have to say I am quite pleased with my purchase. I didnt get as much time on it like I wanted since I only had Saturday off but I have the next three days off so I am going to be on it alot. I have to say though my favorite part so far is the Dualshock 4 I just love how it feels in my hands.

Haven't gotten mine yet, have to wait till the third.

Question for all those who do have theirs:

Is it as good as it was hyped up to be , or a bit less ?

@Spidernoir I wouldn't say it let me down, but for me there are some moments in games where it doesn't look like much of a graphical jump from PS3.. The new features of the console and Dualshock 4 are amazing and the games you get for free are amazing. So I'm very happy I got it at launch

I've loved everything about it so far. (Aside from a small scare from a faulty super cheap hdmi cable) My favourite games so far are Killzone and Resogun, with Killzone looking gorgeous while playing well, and Resogun just being plain addicting. The new controller is amazing for me, as I have giant hands, and just overall I love the system. It, in conjunction with my Wii U, are going to make me very happy as a gamer.

I'm really enjoying the PS4 but I have worries.. When I switch from watching cable to the PS4 the screen turns green for 7-10 secs. Never happened with my PS3 and I have a newer LG 1080p. (Model is no older then 1 1/2 yrs and I've only owned it 6 months max)

@Spidernoir don't worry, it's worth every penny and second. The games will be patched to 1080 soon, but they already look way better than ps3 of course. The ds4 has super stiff sticks and nice pushy buttons, not clicky like Vita even tho they're both digital now. And the hdd space issue is null! The system files take up 92 gb (yikes) but I have BF4, AC4, KZ:SF, both free Plus games, Netflix, and all my game data on mine and it still says 401gb free. Kick-ass, right? Remote play works okay if you're at home, but doesn't work away for me at all. Only complaint, which is asking them to reach deep into the future lol. I love my ps4 hard so far. : )

Hey This weekend I played NBA2k14 and KillZone. I also tested out the Playroom witch was fun and silly. Hope Sony keeps coming out with stuff for The Eye. Voice command is cool too. The Controller is the best ever. Love the new headphone slot feature and the light. (Liked to play games in the dark and sometimes controller would get misplaced, not any more with that bright blue light.) So I give the 4 a 9! Would of been 10 if not for some delays Watchdogs and Drive Club.

I wonder if there is ads for remote play in uk/us?
Really good if that will save vita, even though haven't seen vita black Friday deal like last year

For some reason the volume output on my PS4 is ridiculously low. I haven't been able to enjoy the PS4 at all because of this. I've spent hours in the settings menu for the PS4 and my receiver but the sound still sucks. My PS3 and WiiU both sound amazing so I don't know what the problem is. Maybe I got a defective console. :(
