Box of tricks

We’re running out of ways to say that the PlayStation 4 has launched, so let’s skip over the awkward introductions and get straight to the point: the next generation has finally arrived. It’s been a rollercoaster year filled to the brim with policy reversals, rumours, and more Talking Points than we care to count, but that’s all been leading up to this exact moment. As an EDGE magazine cover once famously pointed out, this is your next console – and it’s available in North America now.

If this isn’t your first visit to Push Square, then you probably already know everything that there is to know about Sony’s latest console. However, if you’ve just landed on this article after asking Google about the vocal crowds outside your local GameStop, then know that those people were screaming in anticipation for the PS4. What’s that you ask? Well, it’s a brand new games console, packing some serious enhancements over its predecessor. If the system’s on-board 8GB GDDR5 RAM and x86 architecture doesn’t get you hot under the collar, then perhaps you’ll go doo-lally over the DualShock 4’s touchpad and share button.

The big question is: have you got your console yet? We’re eager for you to share your launch experiences through here. Don’t forget to check back over the coming hours either, as we respond to the release of the Japanese giant’s latest piece of hardware, and also poll you for feedback on all of the unit’s features. New consoles don’t come around very often, so savour the moment – and then get ready to do it all over again in two week’s time for the device's overdue deployment in Europe.

Have you got your PS4 yet? Are you being forced to wait until the European launch later in the month? Let us know in the comments section below.
