I just hit me that Penacony is just Penal Colony. I do like the retro vibe for the new map and the article is right in saying the Xianzhou's space politics was already getting too much. This new arc is supposed to span 3 updates if I recall correctly so we probably won't see a new world till 2nd half of the year or later.

Didn't a studio try this back in the day with an MMO and TV show? Where players actions influenced the direction of the story. I believe it got cancelled due to massive trolling but I could be wrong.

The success of Honkai star rail has shown that scifi magic turn based games still have an audience. Gimmie FF8 with updated graphics and turn based.

@Flaming_Kaiser Lol I can remember thinking "If only this had prestige". It was a pointless addition to CoD imo but it kept me playing even though all you got was a different looking medal icon and weapon skin in some iterations.

I agree. They tried to go the CoD route and it flopped. They should have gone back to the KZ3 formula but I guess Horizon was on the ...Horizon so they shifted gears.

@Flaming_Kaiser IKR?! KZ3 is still the best multiplayer FPS I've played to date and I've played all the major ones. The balance of the various classes, weapons and mission objectives has yet to be beaten in any other multiplayer FPS imho. I think to date it's been the only game that's gotten me super hyped during load screens as you never know how a match will turn out. From the level to sound design and kill animations it was so immersive, even when playing as a Helgast I felt like it was my duty to win for the emperor lol. GG might not want to touch KZ cause of the lawsuite that followed after Shadow Fall. I hope they do though as even a remake would be most welcome.

Wouldn't Killzone and Resistance be more than suitable candidates for Sony's Live service mid life crisis? The lore and fan base are already there.

@ZhuckelDror KZ3 multiplayer was for a lot of gamers. I also had COD but spent more time on KZ3

Killzone 3 multiplayer was my most played fps multiplayer game. I miss that game.

I'm surprised there's complaints (unless i'm getting this wrong) but isn't this the same as the late Sir Sean Connery copyrighting his face and voice so if any one used this they had to pay royalties? This way great VA's can take on multiple roles from their couch and still get paid right? I understand that early on it will only be the more popular VA's used but with lots of mods out and coming out for rpgs that make npc's have multiple voice lines this would be a boon for lesser known VA's. They will need to revamp the payment structure for sure but it can be done. A shop keeper/ quest giver will get asked more random questions than villager A.

@Judal27 It just might do. I hope all the people selected for the beta request it's return in their feedback. If you've completed the current TB continuance mission it seems the Heliobi are going to be a mainstay type enemy/ antagonist/ pawn so fiend fire just might make it back

@Judal27 Fiend fire was a great mechanic. Sacrificing an ult to ensure the enemy did not get the buff was a nice twist.

@get2sammyb Great article I'm making my way through G&G but Lv3 final bosses are impossible for me at the mo. You're right that it's probably my blessings and curio setups. Lots of ruing thus far but I am hopeful.

Yup HSR has taken over most of my gaming time. I even log in to their website daily for the extra rewards. I've never done that for any other game.

@Cloud7794 @Nepp67 Think of your thumb as split into 2. Front and back. The back is the half that applies pressure to the down button and the front does the qcf motion. This is what I figured out after decades of fighting games and it's 99% effective for me.

@Terra_Custodes Yea it feels that way for me too. My video game consumption has been declining sharply over the years. I remember when watching a cutscene or cg trailer for a game used to get me hyped because back then they still put effort into making the actual game stand out. Now it seems they use the trailers to mask the train wreck they're trying to peddle. Its the current state of society that's causing this level of censorship but humans shift trends every 10 to 20 years or so. Another decade to go I guess.

You can buy the key for the upcoming dungeon in D2 for the same price as one of the witcher skins. That's insane. All the weapons in that "starter" pack can be gotten for free.

Yea the "Gamer protection organizations" are severely lacking and game mags and sites have to be careful what they say so as not to be "excluded" which sucks. The extortion and victimization of gamers will continue for years to come.

I agree with you but "idiots" is a bit extreme. It's more likely they are "vulnerable" so these studios are taking advantage. A lot more 12 yr olds play cod than 18 and above. Anyone who uses team chat can tell it's mostly kids on.

@Flaming_Kaiser The only games I day 1 now are Sony first party games. Everything else is a wait and see. I'm still playing D2 but that's because I paid for the yearly pass for lightfall thinking it would be as good as witch queen but I was so wrong. That's the last money bungie will see from me for a long while. Their advertising is also false as it says "free to play" when in fact most of the content is locked behind pay walls so it should be "free to try".

@Flaming_Kaiser Yea the new generation think buying the skins is how you pay for the game. My nephew asked me for £50 to spend on Roblox and that was his reasoning. Now that gaming is more widespread we defo need some kind of enforcement policy cause innocents are getting taken advantage of.

@Terra_Custodes You're still on topic as DLC was the demise of "free" which was actually a full game because they did all the hard work to ensure their games sold. Not to say they still don't do hard work but if you look at Sony first party games they are full games and the DLC is an add on which is how DLC was supposed to be. Not charging players almost full game price for characters or maps that should have been in the full build or a nostalgia skin.

@Terra_Custodes The only dlc I got for T7 was Noctis from ff15 but begrudgingly as the same company released link, yoda, vader in soul calibur for free back in the day.

@Terra_Custodes You're probably right. These so called "dlc" characters are being advertised even before the game launches now. Means it's purely a predatory attempt to make more money from gamers as these characters could have been put in the initial launch even if it had to be delayed by a few months.

@Terra_Custodes Yea being a fighting game fan I remember the full roster glory days. Tekken 8 seems like the only one willing to uphold that tradition which is why it's the only one I shall purchase out of the big 3. Gamers need to vote with their wallets. If they stop buying this crap the studios will stop peddling but then again they hire staff who know how to abuse and influence gambling addiction. It's pretty disgusting when you think about it. No wonder there's more negativity in the gaming sphere.
