@naruball The Apple comparison is fair, however Apple products are a lifestyle item owned predominantly by working people. Not every Apple owner has the latest version and they are usually conned into a subscription to pay off the phone at £60 per month for 2 years - then returned for the next one. You WILL use the iPhone for the next 2 years multiple times a day. So you can mentally absorb the cost when you factor in calls/texts/internet etc.
I loved PSVR a ton but don't use it anymore. It was relatively expensive versus the time it's been used. I will give psvr2 a miss for now but keep an envious eye over everyone who owns it.
I felt sick in just about every VR game I played outside of Statik and the head pong game in VR world's. Even Astrobot gave me some mild sickness when the camera moved forward.
But nothing compares to playing anything were you move at normal speed or in vehicles. I recall playing a FPS which came bundled with a gun peripheral. Got about 45 minutes in and felt ill for days.
As a side note I do get travel sick on occasion. So it probably ties in. Don't play vr if you get travel sick, it's not worth it.
Weird game and imo a bit pants. The art style is different and that's about it really. The pod racer vehicle is okay. The puzzles are contrived and it suffers badly from invisible walls and scenery blocking you although it's cleared.
That said I am glad I played it and the artsyle does pop. Hopefully they get the chance to expand and deepen their next game.
@B80 @StylesT it was one of the first games I installed on my new Xbox. I did have teething issues initially when I started it, possibly didn't download properly? God knows. I will give it another bash some time if it's still on GP.
I was quietly excited for last year's version Gamepass and to me it's unplayable. The control scheme is awful and the amount of bugs and weird things going on is unforgivable.
The LMA control scheme needs to be acknowledged as THE console sport manager interface and not the festering steaming mess we currently have. It's so bad, the only thing I can compare it to is using Teletext back in the day. It's slow, cumbersome and poorly designed.
@Milktastrophe sorry for the delayed response. Do you know they are underpaid as fact?
In the UK we have a working time directive of 37.5 hours. We also have a hotline for being underpaid / not paid. I was under the impression crunch was bad due to the stress and additional working hours, not the lack of pay.
If that's the case they could underpay anyone at anytime.
Edit) ignore above Ive seen your subsequent reply to another Pushsquare and that's pretty eye-opening. Thank you for the research.
I understand everyone's hate for crunch culture. However as long as it's scheduled more or less and the prior 2.75 years have been a safe, cool environment with proper holidays etc. It is a product rather than a service at launch, so you need that extra workload for the polish. Yes it seems cruel but as long as the staff are compensated appropriately then it has to be done.
@uptownsoul you are correct and possibly wrong at the same time.
Depending on what happens next with geopolitics are economies could regress worse than the credit crunch. I had a start up business prior to 08 and noticed some strange things going on. It was very different to now. You could get 7/8% interest (coming on around 11% APR) on regular savings and it was a really weird but amazing time. The ninja mortgages and gimmicks caught up with the financial system in the end and it collapsed like a house of cards. The debt incurred by governments bailing out banks was the reason for austerity. Simple really.
This time international trade has started to falter. Nationalism rose post 2008 (blame Johnny foreigner). Capitalism has taken a monopolistical turn for the worse and the mega rich company owners have their own political strategies and planted politicians. Workers are having rights stripped away and the politicians in charge are awful or acting against the populous across the globe. Post WW2 agreements have been ripped up and there are clear lines of a 2 way split East Vs West. After Brexit, Covid and now Russia has invaded Ukraine with China's blessing the games up. Things could very well get a lot lot worse. This time, it's not simple. There are issues on multiple fronts which all effect the world and local economies. Global warming is coming home to roost, striking workers, anger and potentially no heating come winter.
In my work, Ive had people threatening me. At the end of the day the 'team' shouldn't be fronting Twitter or social media, pass it to a PR company. Especially as Destiny is going to garner backlash everytime it updates - it's expensive and has microtransactions. Who buys them? Kids and Karen's. Bad news both sets.
@The_Pixel_King If Polyphony decide to build a hot wheels or similar dlc, you will be waiting until 2030. The scapes mode is fantastic, I spent an age designing a few cars and snapping them in GT Sport. It's more fleshed out in 7. Just a pity the game came out kind of unfinished and the graphics look a bit last gen sometimes.
@Grimwood Gamepass has closer to 300 games and mostly a lot of solid games. Unlike PS Now which had a lot of filler. Listen Grim, I'm not for 1 minute saying Xbox are that much different to Sony. It's just that until recently with the new ps plus tiers, Gamepass was a better value proposition. And there are more first party games than we give MS credit for.
But for me playing Playstation for 6-7 years it's actually been nice seeing all the Xbox games. So with the lack of games and tiny SSD, ridiculous stick drift and pivot to games as a service I'm more inclined to play on Xbox this gen. As I mentioned Ive bought a years Gamepass ultimate, gave £10 to charity, Bought Rogue Legacy 2 and a couple of throw away games to pad out my library and all it cost (my wife for my bday) was 3 months Gamepass, due to Microsoft rewards. It's like a pseudo achievement score but you can get vouchers from it. With the cost of living crisis, it pays for itself then some. And if you game similarly to me, having both systems, then it's an easy decision to main on the Xbox. It's quieter, looks better and gives you money.
@Grimwood it's not though is it? PS plus essential Is like 2-3 games a month. Gamepass had 3 games added on Friday and more Tuesday. They add about 14 or so games every month.
I'm a Sony advocate, been on this site for years. But they have dropped the ball big time. I'm not just referring to GP either.
Promote soulless games as a service free to play littered with microtransactions. Charge £70 for your own games and include microtransactions. Design a console with tiny storage.
Great if you are a casual gamer who plays FIFA and Cod. Terrible if you play loads of games. Ive Been spending 95% of my time on Xbox due to Gamepass and MS rewards, just bought Rogue Legacy 2 and paid nothing but my own time.

Amazing tracks like Monza and Interlagos have 1 main race. Were as loads of the Japanese tracks have 6/7. Daytonas oval is woefully underused as well with truck racing and some other low level pp rubbish? It's the Daytona oval, one of the big 3 world races. I don't understand why the real world tracks are underutilized.
@Eldritch that's 7.5million life time sales. It was closer to 1.5 million at the time. As the biggest game on the platform.
Anyhow the point Im making is a lot of people attempt to defend idiotic pricing strategies or overly inflated prices today. Sega could easily sell this compilation for £25 and make a tidy profit. It's irrelevant what we paid before, as gaming is now a bigger industry. PCs used to cost £5000, that's not going to stop a savvy customer querying why a new laptop is £700 or look for a better deal. To summarise I personally don't like the 'we used to pay' argument as it has so many variables and reduces quite a complicated gaming supply and demand history of physical games against an easily accessible digital storefront. Easier to work out how much this is costing them today (maybe half a million tops) and how much they will make. £40 is way over the top.
@Eldritch I see this argument every time pricing gets brought up
Gaming in the 90s was niche with expensive cartridges and a less integrated global market. Comparable games on the Amiga or Atari ST were approximately £15-£20 on disk.
The original Lemmings only sold 70,000 as an example.
POSITIVES Great gameplay Cool progression Loads of modes Great looking cars Amazing customisation Wet racing Tracks are brilliant Scrapes are ultra realistic

@DualWielding weirdly I noticed something with Gamepass. I was looking to start Skyrim and the version on Gamepass isn't the most recent one.
Also a lot of the first party games encourage additional purchases.
I love Gamepass. But it's not like every brilliant game comes to it and the ones that do need you to pony up for the full experience. After playing miles Morales and ghost of Tsushima everything on Gamepass is worse. So I don't mind paying for best in class experiences.
Fingers crossed when the big single player games come round Xbox can properly compete with Sony. Forza 5 and Ori are great though.
@Martsmall is it? I never knew that. I will still buy it on the PS though. Love pacman and Championship edition was an absolute beast of an arcade game.
@WallyWest love the way you quoted me, and I never said it. That's illegal probably ROFL. But yeah probably. Botw is just one of many attempts at open world since Elite in 1984, Maybe it came at a bad time for me after playing a bunch of openworld games around the same time (including HZD). And it is the kind of genre I can only play a few times a year. My favourite openworld games are actually Yakuza zero, Frontier Elite 2, Burnout Paradise, HZD and MGS 5. They all have their failings as a genre it tries to be good at all things and rarely masters anythings. With those 5 they all master something - 80s aesthetic, Space trading, Street racing, Hunting and smoking cigars to pass time.
@BoldandBrash GoT is subjectively great, graphics great, music great, story great, characters great, usability options great. It's brilliant. Maybe it's because Im playing on hard but it doesn't seem like a breeze to me. The game does have some weak points, the various side quests mostly amount to - go here - beat everyone up - collect some flags - the end. Totally agree that does grind. Not much for the old grey matter to work out. I wouldn't say it on rails - but it is a checklist of things to do. And Im cool with that when it's wrapped around a story this good.
However if you are saying that you weren't taking in the world, then that's on you. It's gorgeous. Im constantly taking in views in bewilderment on how it looks so good. As the PS5 has the screen capture ability it's a game in its own right. Finding the best shot.
With all that said I would still rate Botw as recommended, I was disappointed playing it post hype period - but offered enough new stuff and was massively playable and I can understand why other people would like it. GoT being snubbed by Eurogamer is ridiculous imo, especially when it offers so many fantastic story beats with graphics this realistic.
Ghost of Tsushima is boss, no idea what the guys at Eurogamer were smoking, not giving it a recommendation is a crime. One of the most immersive games ever with world building only rivalled in the likes of God of War and Zelda. Anyone who hasn't picked it up and hasn't played an oprenworlder for a bit, you have to play it.
I enjoy live services games, there's a place for good multiplayer games. The minute I am asked for Battle Passes or microtransaction money I will do what content I can for free and gradually move away to something else. Usually a single player game or 5.
I think the missing point is my favourite service games are all single player / multiplayer hybrids. Like the older Call of Dutys, Burnout paradise, Street Fighter 4, Forza Horizon, Tetris Effect etc.
The problems happen when you the get Street Fighter 5 with no real single player. I need the SP to git gud. And then can have the odd game of multiplayer as a side to the main course.
I feel many younger gamers just want the multiplayer.
Hey @get2sammyb was this your first Pushsquare article? Pretty mad went into the archive section to find out what games you were talking about way back when (due to all the acquisitions) and how things have changed. Pretty cool.
Sony need to be careful, or they will become the next Sega.
Stick to what you know son, big exclusive games. By the way things are going we will all just be dipping in and out of subscriptions and having a rubbish time. A bit like subscribing to Disney plus.

Re: PS Plus' Ill-Received February 2022 PS5, PS4 Games Will Be Rotated Imminently
@Bagwag82 third person stuff. So bored of it.
I thought planet coaster and tiny Tina was great personally. But what do I know?
Re: Get a Horizon Forbidden West Outfit in Ghost of Tsushima Director's Cut
Re: Get a Horizon Forbidden West Outfit in Ghost of Tsushima Director's Cut
@AdamNovice must be shills. HZD was fantastic. Zelda was massively overrated and so too odyssey for that matter. Give me HZD and Sonic Mania any day.
Re: Get a Horizon Forbidden West Outfit in Ghost of Tsushima Director's Cut
Ghost of Tsushima is boss, no idea what the guys at Eurogamer were smoking, not giving it a recommendation is a crime. One of the most immersive games ever with world building only rivalled in the likes of God of War and Zelda. Anyone who hasn't picked it up and hasn't played an oprenworlder for a bit, you have to play it.
Re: Busted PS5, PS4 GTA Remasters Sold Around 10 Million Copies
Everyone loves GTA. Soon there will be more copies of GTA than people.
Re: Disco Elysium's Big Update Out Now on PS5, PS4, Massively Improves Load Times and More
Hopefully they fixed the soft lock. Will give it another whirl and hopefully get passed day 4.
Re: Soapbox: Sony Is Making More Live Service Games for PS5, PS4, And I'm Excited
Re: First Impressions: echoChrome on Playstation 3 Initial Thoughts
Hey @get2sammyb was this your first Pushsquare article? Pretty mad went into the archive section to find out what games you were talking about way back when (due to all the acquisitions) and how things have changed. Pretty cool.
Re: New and Existing Bungie Games Will Not Become PS5, PS4 Exclusives
Sony need to be careful, or they will become the next Sega.
Stick to what you know son, big exclusive games. By the way things are going we will all just be dipping in and out of subscriptions and having a rubbish time. A bit like subscribing to Disney plus.
And has anyone seen those GAAS prices lately?
Re: Reaction: Sony's Bungie Buyout Means Little for PS5, PS4 Fans Right Now
Hey Sony I made a FPS on Dreams. I can be purchased for £250,000 if you want?
