Still Final fantasy 7. 42 hours in and just started chapter 5. I'm too busy managing my business project so little time for gaming. And yeah, I tend to anchor myself at every minigame I find in the game...
Beside that I will continue to play Reveil with a friend of mine... and with a couple of beer. Not too scary but just in case.
@munkholt I had more fun with Lies of P than I thought I would have. From the trailer it looks like it's on the same quality level. I just hope it delivers too.
Looks interesting but please, be single player and leave the massive open world with openable chests, hundreds of collectables and copy pasted side missions concept OUT of it. An Uncharted-like, linear, action packed game with a highly detailed environment would be the best approach.
@MFTWrecks They are playing it safe. It worked several times so why change the formula when people buy their games anyway? They will change their model when sales will drop dramatically. I know it's sad but this is how business work. I just hope that they get a huge kick in the belly soon so the talented developers there can get a chance to create something new, unique and amazing.
I love a good challenge in video games, I beat Sekiro and all of the souls like titles but I'm happy that they're approaching it this way now. From the first reveal, it was clear that this would be a story-heavy game, so a "brutal difficulty only" would have just scared people away from it.
@windxtravelerx Agreed. That's why I own a console for gaming (PS5) and a Mac for work. Both have longer lifespans than a PC or a normal laptop. I can buy new games or software without worrying about whether they can run them properly.
I'm open for everything that aims to something new and unique but I'll pass this time. This is basically a pretty PowerPoint with voiceover. Maybe the story is good but at least an Until Dawn gameplay would have been nice.
Maybe it's just me but the cartoony face design of the main character feels off when the world itself is trying to be 'realistic'. And yeah, the fps is concerning. Otherwise it looks cool, I'm keeping an eye out on this one
I absolutely will but I'm still occupied with Banishers. I also want to try Pacific drive, Rise of the ronin, Alone in the dark and so on but right now I have extreme little time for gaming... But hey, at least I can't complain that I don't have anything to play with for at least half a year...
@ZhuckelDror Yep. They're boring because most open-world games only offer like 2 or 3 types of side quests, and they just recycle them a thousand times over. The worst part is, if you don't grind through a ton of them, your character doesn't progress at all, which totally messes with the later parts of the game... I play games to have fun after work. But this isn't fun; it's just another job. Except this time I'm not getting paid — I pay them.
Some folks might have said it before but seriously, it's time to dial back on those Spider-Man-style massive games. Many gamers just blitz through the main storyline without even touching the side quests. Those side missions demand a colossal map, tons of variables and a boatload of graphic assets to look halfway decent. Creating these eats up millions, of course. Honestly, most times, I'd be totally cool with a shorter, snappier game that still packs a punch (check out The Last of Us Part I or Resident Evil 4 for reference). Personally, I'm kinda over those gigantic open-world games. They're just too much to handle sometimes and get boring rather fast.
I don't even know, I might be alone with my opinion but it doesn't seem like such a good idea to me. This is going to be a story and primarily character-centric game, am I right? It's like character creation could have been in Horizon or God of War.
@get2sammyb adding a simple user timeline like the one on PS4 isn't that complicated. I'm a developer myself, I know it's not. So I don't understand why it's been missing since launch...
The grindy gameplay and lack of narrative are the main characteristics of free-to-play games. It's not that the game is trash, but the price is a joke. I've tried the trial; it can be entertaining for a while, it looks nice and all, but it's definitely not worth more than 20-30 bucks. There simply isn't enough content in it to justify the 70 plus dollar price tag...
@rusty82 I can only recommend it. Jokes aside, it's obviously not The Last of Us/Uncharted level but it's quite entertaining. In my opinion, at least. The actors are good, the environment is well-crafted, the story is interesting, only the combat system is a bit unpolished. It's a classic DontNod game, doesn't aim for too much but delivers it nicely.
It would be nice as a free-to-play game with in-game purchases. I know it's designed to be a multiplayer game but come on... For 70+ bucks I want a story-heavy, single player pirate game with a multiplayer section. It's joke as it is for that price.
@GeminiReign Partly you're right but not entirely. There was a time when I was happy if I could occasionally go out or save up enough to afford a new game. A new console remained just a dream for a long time. I didn't mean to argue, just wanted to shed light on this as well.
I cleared all of my backlog except for The Dark Pictures Anthology: The Devil in Me, so I will continue playing it. I hope to finish it during the weekend because I pre-ordered Banishers of New Eden and I definitely want to play that next weekend.
Besides, I will try to forget that Skull and Bones exists.
It's more like BBB or CCC, but if you ask me it's UGHH. Not that it is day before class bad, it's just... like if max 10 people was working on it. It's basic and kinda ugly. 9 years of development and we get this? it should be a top notch, red dead clone single player game with a massive multiplayer section to be AAA...
Well, this is what happens when people have sooo much "freedom" and "rights" to be/do anything they want. I wonder what would happen to them if this case was in China for example.
@somnambulance the part one remake wasn't unnecessary. The difference between the original and that is undoubtedly significant, graphical and gameplay wise. But yeah, if the decide to remake a game they should add more plus content which leaves the original story intact and expans it even more.
@AverageGamer yeah, things are different now. I didn't play the first installment but I'm planning on this one. I hope they at least limit the friendly fire count like in COD hardcore mode. I know, maybe I lost my hope in humanity but I don't want to ragequit when some idiots decide to play a nutrun...
@TheCollector316 yep, but they should put the Ellie line to rest and come up with a new one. Maybe not so popular opinion but I liked the 2. However, it would be wise to concentrate more on the world itself on a third entry. They should not go "all-out drama". A storyline where they trying to find a cure or the source of this plague would be nice in my opinion. This drama only concept killed the walking dead series to me.
It's not the game I have problem with, it's that price. Helldivers base edition cost half that much and it looks more fun. It should be around 30-35 USD. Banishers of new Eden is cheaper and (seemingly) offers a lot more ...
I love these kinda games as much as the (good) AAA ones so I'm glad it moved out of the way a little bit to get a chance. I will buy it for sure but right now my calendar already marked with Banishers and FFVII.
@nomither6 Themes are pointless; using the game's background images is just good for me. However, I agree with the classic friend activity feed. I kinda miss it, and I hope they implement it sometime. It was nice to see my friends' achievements and image uploads ect.
@Ocelot I feel you. I've tried two times already but the story just doesn't catch my attention. I'll give it one more shot since I don't have anything else to play right now but if I don't make it past two hours again then I'll leave it for good.
I'm still playing Spider-Man 2 and will continue for at least another week or so (unlike a friend of mine who got the platinum trophy in 22 hours right after its release... )
Besides that I'll be playing some COD MW3 with my friends. I know, I know, I'm supposed to hate COD but I'm still having fun with it.
It doesn't introduce anything new in terms of gameplay mechanics (what new game does, anyway?) but in terms of story, direction and storytelling, it surpasses all previous games I played. It deserves the first place, or seacond at least...
The story was great but (except the bossfights) the gameplay felt too repetitive after a couple of hours. For me, at least. Also the world was a bit... empty. I didn't feel the eager to explore it. It was a very great experience beside that so I guess it's about right. Alan wake, Lies of P, Spider Man, Resident Evil 4. These are my top four.
The past days and weeks have been quite hectic juggling my grocery business and programming the other half of my time. But finally, I get to indulge in playing Spider-Man 2. Yeah, I guess it's about time!
I've never played the GTA series for some reason but I've been planning it for a while now. The two red dead are one of my favorite games so I guess it's time to give this a chance. I almost bought it a month ago, glad I didn't.
I will also try out the final fantasy game. From what I saw on YouTube walkthroughs I doubt I will put tens of hours in it but who knows... I tried a couple of FF installments over the years but so far I only liked FF7 and the most recent FF16.
I gave it a try with the free trial option but I dunno. I looks good and everything but the story just didn't get me and the characters are too cringy... Clearly it wants to be epic and heavy but fails to do so. Unfortunately.
I'm testing and debugging the application (android/web) that I've been developing for the past year and a half with the help of my friends, so I won't have much time to play as I aim to publish it in December. But if I do find some time, I'll continue playing "The Invincible". I still haven't started Spider-Man, even though I downloaded it a while ago...
I finished and platinumed Alan Wake yesterday so I move on to 'idunno'. Spider man is sitting on my ssd locked n loaded but maybe I try Jusant or The Invincible. After Wake feel like I'm in no shape to start a new big title...
