They say Halloween is approaching so now they proudly announce the “Halloween game,” which in fact will only come out a year from now. Oh, and it’s already the umpteenth Dead by Daylight clone. The only thing that really interested me was Wolverine, and maybe Saros.
I don’t know if it’s just me but the character animations don’t look nearly as good as in Village or the Resident Evil 4 remake. Don't get me wrong, it looks good, that’s not the issue, it just feels like a small step back.
I’ve put about 5 hours into it so far, and aside from a few blurry textures, I haven’t noticed any issues. I’m playing on an LG OLED TV with a PS5 Pro in quality mode, and during testing the framerate never dropped below 60 (at least according to the TV). Obviously, Wukong looks better, but overall this doesn’t look bad either.
@rusty82 If you didn’t like the first one, you won’t like this either. Honestly, I’m not really into it myself. The gameplay is kinda terrible, in my opinion. The story’s interesting and keeps me curious, so I’m moving forward but only doing the main missions. I get that some people enjoy walking from A to B for hours, tripping over every damn rock along the way, but for me that’s not gameplay, that’s a chore. The gunplay and boss fights are super basic, the world looks great, but it’s boring. I’ve spent 27 hours in it so far, but only for the story. So far, it’s a 6 out of 10 for me, tops.
Considering how much it costs to develop a game (programmers, graphic artists, 3D designers, actors, support tech, etc.), and the fact that many studios don’t see any profit for years, this kind of pricing is understandable. The issue isn’t with the price, but with the quality. I’m happy to pay €80 for a game, but then I expect at least 20–25 hours of well-written, exciting story, with good and varied gameplay. It should also be well-optimized - 4K 60FPS minimum - and both the main character and side characters should be memorable and likable. As for the graphics, I don’t care if it’s near-photorealistic or something more pastel-styled like Life is Strange, as long as it looks beautiful. This is my hobby so I have no problem paying €80 for a well-crafted game, but yes, then it should meet the expectations I just described.
@Balaam_ So you only play games if you can own them forever? I guess that means no Netflix for you, no cinema trips, no amusement parks, no concerts, no restaurants - because, you know, none of those are 'permanent'. You probably don’t even buy ice cream because it melts, or take a taxi unless you get to keep the car. Apparently, experience-based consumption is the work of the devil, right? Sure, the only meaningful goal in life must be collecting dust-covered discs on a shelf.
I gave Indiana Jones a try and quit after about 5 hours because it simply didn’t captivate me — a great waste of money. The semi-open world environment was very weak, the textures were far from next-gen, and the AI was downright dumb. Overall, it was a disappointment.
On the other hand, Clair Obscure turned out to be brilliant in every respect. I bought it a bit hesitantly since turn-based combat has never really appealed to me, but I was surprised at how enjoyable it actually was. It’s a truly genius game in every aspect.
I liked the first one, mostly for its totally deranged story, but this whole strand-type gameplay thing should stay with Baby Steps. I’ll still finish the sequel, just hoping they throw in a bit more actual excitement and actual gameplay this time.
Honestly, I don’t get the hate here. Sure, it’s not some groundbreaking masterpiece, but it’s fun, it grabs your attention - and that’s what counts. The fact that the main character is black even gives it a bit of extra flavor, kinda like The Last Samurai vibe. I’d be the first to trash the game if it felt like it was pushing some political agenda (like Life is Strange: Double Exposure). But here it's not the case or at least it’s not shoved down your throat in some cringey way. So yeah, I’m glad it’s doing well. Hopefully they take the hint and keep up this level of quality.
Finished it, but the story didn’t hit nearly as hard as I expected. By the end, I feel like even the devs had no idea what they wanted to do with it - just twist after twist, but in a completely messy, incoherent way. The whole thing basically took place in one location, which felt pretty dull.
Oh, and the forced diversity… pushing it to the point of being straight-up ridiculous. I’m open-minded and usually don’t even care about this stuff, but here, it was shoved in so aggressively that it was actually frustrating. And for what? Zero (!) impact on the story. Whether a character was gay, lesbian, or trans made absolutely no difference - it added nothing, it was just there because it had to be.
Awesome game, no regrets spending money on it, but I still think A Way Out and It Takes Two were better. Those games made you rely on your partner more, and the mini-games were way more creative. Here, the side stories (the "minigames") felt kinda bland in comparison, and most of the time, you were just running through them together instead of really playing against each other.
That said, visually, Split Fiction is hands down the best, the unreal engine 5 really shows its power!
I don't have a problem with using AI but use it for coding. At least that could shorten the development and testing time. However, if they're using it to create crappy stuff for easy money, it's simply just sad.
Except for the first episode, I thought the series was terrible. None of the characters reflected their in-game counterparts. It was short, rushed, bland, and I could go on. The longest episode was a completely irrelevant gay drama that had nothing to do with the story. Bravo. Thanks, but I'll pass on the second season.
I like challenging games. I’ve beaten Sekiro, Demon's Souls, the Dark Souls series, Lies of P, and Elden Ring. But for some reason Returnal got me... I just couldn't finish it. I found it extremely hard and frustrating. But this looks interesting, though, so I might give Returnal another go before this releases.
It depends. If it's entertaining and the main story really excites me, I tend to stretch it out as long as possible because I don’t want it to end (unfortunately, this is rarer these days...). But if it interests me less (bores me) then I ignore everything else and just rush through it because I spent money on it, so I’ll finish it. But only for that reason. And I hate myself afterwards.
@mountain_spider basically, this is exactly why I didn’t buy it. I tried the demo and let’s not sugarcoat it, it’s ugly. I know graphics aren’t everything, but if the reviews are to be believed, the story wasn’t all that impressive either. The whole thing just gives off a “meh” vibe. It’s a shame.
I see no point in this. This is a game, not a TV series that's aired with days or weeks of breaks to keep people glued to the screen and watch commercials in the meantime. If it's not fully ready, they should delay it...
Too bad, as this kinda was the only game I had been looking forward to since Silent Hill 2. None of the big releases in February excite me, except maybe Lost Records. Most of the games I’d be interested in still don’t have a release date to this day, probably because of GTA VI...
If the locations had been as diverse as the characters and their gender identities, it might have been better. On the other hand, the story turned into quite a mess. I think by the end, even the writers didn’t know which way they were facing. Many of the dialogues were cringe-fests, and I didn’t feel like my decisions had any real weight. It’s sad because the first game, along with Before the Storm, is one of my favorites.
As long as a console remains cheaper than a similarly capable PC, I think many people will stick with consoles. That's the first reason. The second is simplicity. I can turn it on and immediately start playing or streaming a movie, and I don’t have to worry about whether the game I want to play will run on it. I agree that games look better on a more powerful PC, but from two meters away, I hardly notice the slightly lower resolution or less detailed textures. So, as it has been so far, in the future, I’ll stick to a console for gaming and my MacBook for work.
@KeanuReaves I never used the sharing or commenting features myself, but it was much clearer and better when everything was displayed one below the other, like a news feed. The current L1 R1 paging is really lame.
On another note: this landing page is being presented as if it’s some huge development. Come on... I’m a software developer myself, and something like this could be put together by a single person in about a week or even less, including testing. All the data was already there; this is just a simple visualization of it.
I'm not complaining. I buy almost every game that truly interests me either at launch or a few months later when it's a bit cheaper. Essentially, I only have PS Plus because I play multiplayer and, for some inexplicable reason, I enjoy trying out games that I otherwise wouldn't spend a penny on. This way, I reassure myselft that it was a good decision not to buy them.
@somnambulance I loved Control and Alan Wake as well, but I don't think the crossover was a great idea. With it, the second part completely lost that nice feeling the first one had.
I don't know, I just got bored with it. It was somewhat okay at the beginning, but as soon as I entered the first open-world zone and saw the copy-pasted enemy animations in the distance, along with a ton of icons on the map, I completely lost interest. As for the visuals, well... I get that it's supposed to be super-advanced armor, but I just can't take it seriously. It's not the women or the big, bouncing breasts that bother me (quite the opposite), but the fact that the whole thing feels ridiculous. But it's just my opinion.
Honestly? This year, none of the games reached that outstanding level for me that would make me call any of them the game of the year. I had fun with most of them, but they all felt like "ok, let's see the next one" types. I hope 2025 will be a bit better. The problem is that the older PS exclusive games set the bar too high, and most of the current games just can’t reach that level.
Life is Strange: Double Exposure. I'm at the second chapter, but so far, I think it's nowhere near as good as the first one. We'll see how it turns out. One thing is certain, though - they've gone a bit overboard with all this 'woke' stuff. It doesn’t add anything to the story, it’s clearly included just for the sake of it.
Some might call me out, but since I only got into gaming with the PS4, this retexturing just doesn’t do it for me. I just can’t take it seriously because of the visuals. If they add it to PS Plus, I might give it a shot, but honestly, I think it would have deserved a Dead Space-level remake.
@ChimpMasta Let’s not forget, a ton of people didn’t hit dislike because of the trailer itself, but because they’re still bitter about Joel’s death. Honestly, it’s both childish and beyond pathetic. I’d bet they’ve been waiting for months, just lurking, so they could spam dislikes the second Naughty Dog posted anything. Clearly, they don’t have much else going on in their miserable lives.
The Last of Us Part II, no matter what anyone says, is an absolutely brilliant game. The story is intense and full of twists, the graphics are stunning, and the gameplay is top-notch. Oh, and let’s not forget—it sold over 10 million copies. If a few tens of thousands of bored haters didn’t like it and decided to spam Metacritic, that’s on them, not the game.
I put 103 hours into FFVII, but honestly, it's nowhere near Game of the Year material, and I don't think the others are either. In my opinion, this year has been pretty lackluster in terms of releases. I enjoyed Silent Hill and Indika the most, but they’re not even on the list.
Actually, I'm only interested in the game reveals, but for some reason, I enjoy these cheesy performances too. But unfortunately, it's on too late. 1:30 AM here in Hungary, so I'll stick to watching the trailers the next day.
I just don't want to wait years for a game that ends up being 100 hours long because of repetitive side quests and unnecessary grinding mechanics. Make it shorter, more action-packed, unique and, most importantly, FUN.
@DennisReynolds Do you seriously think they couldn’t make it a third-person game? There are parts where you see the character in third-person, and it’s animated really well, so they definitely could have done it; they just went with FPS. What you’re saying is nonsense... Though honestly, I agree it would be better in third-person, but it is what it is.
I just can’t imagine what they could come up with that would really hit hard… Andromeda sucked because, after the whole Reaper storyline, nothing felt like it mattered anymore. I didn’t feel like the fate of the galaxy was in my hands. Hate to say it, but I’d rather they just remake the first one…
Silent Hill 2, since I still haven’t finished it. On the other hand, my buddy and I decided to find something short, scary and totally messed up that we can blast through in one night with a few beers.
It was fun swinging and kicking around, but I would never replay it. For me, the story was kind of uninteresting. Around the halfway point of the game, I often found myself watching a movie rather than play it. I swear, Miles Morales was more fun to play with its christmas setting.
If a trophy is tied to a fun challenge, like finding all the documents or places that are closely linked to the story and I’m only missing a couple of trophies for the platinum, I give it a go. Like in the Tomb Raider games, finding the artifacts was cool because the main character or someone would always make a comment. But if a bunch of trophies have ridiculous requirements, like finding a million medals or coins, or replaying the game on a time limit, then nah, I’m out.
Currently, I have about zero free time to play games, and I haven’t even finished Casting of Frank Stone, but I think I’ll get to it next week. I’ve never played the original, I actually have no idea what it’s about. I only saw the movie, a long time ago. I hope it’ll be good.
I bought the last three Modern Warfare games because I liked this semi-realistic approach in terms of gunplay, movement, and sounds, but based on the gameplay videos, this one doesn't quite seem like that. It's too fast, as if the character is Speedy Gonzales with an airsoft gun.

It was fun swinging and kicking around, but I would never replay it. For me, the story was kind of uninteresting. Around the halfway point of the game, I often found myself watching a movie rather than play it. I swear, Miles Morales was more fun to play with its christmas setting.
Re: Poll: Are You Using the PS5's New Welcome Hub?
I would use it, but so far nothing in Hungary. I have no idea what’s so complicated about releasing such a small feature on a global level...
Re: Dragon Age: The Veilguard Trophies Want You to Do Everything on PS5
If a trophy is tied to a fun challenge, like finding all the documents or places that are closely linked to the story and I’m only missing a couple of trophies for the platinum, I give it a go. Like in the Tomb Raider games, finding the artifacts was cool because the main character or someone would always make a comment. But if a bunch of trophies have ridiculous requirements, like finding a million medals or coins, or replaying the game on a time limit, then nah, I’m out.
Re: Poll: Are You Playing Silent Hill 2?
Currently, I have about zero free time to play games, and I haven’t even finished Casting of Frank Stone, but I think I’ll get to it next week. I’ve never played the original, I actually have no idea what it’s about. I only saw the movie, a long time ago. I hope it’ll be good.
Re: Watch Unreal 5's Seriously Impressive MegaLights Tech Demo, Running on a PS5
Nice, but will we actually get to see this kind of detail in 4K at above 10 FPS in actual releases on our PS5?
Re: PS5 Fans Who Paid $110 for Star Wars Outlaws Early Access Asked to Restart Saves
@colonelkilgore with the Star Wars logo I don’t think it’s gonna be half price anytime soon, but yeah, at least the major bugs will get sorted out.
Re: Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Beta: Start Times, How to Access, and Rewards
I bought the last three Modern Warfare games because I liked this semi-realistic approach in terms of gunplay, movement, and sounds, but based on the gameplay videos, this one doesn't quite seem like that. It's too fast, as if the character is Speedy Gonzales with an airsoft gun.
