Re: Rumour: Halo 2, Halo 3 Remakes Also Purportedly Planned for PS5

chesheer

They do this, and for some reason I feel ashamed. Five years ago I went from PS4 to XSS because I was sure that this time Microsoft definitely will pull it off. I was sure that the flood of amazing Xbox exclusives is right around the corner. And then Bethesda! You're done, Sony, you're done. That's what I thought.
Yet here we are, five years later I'm playing on my trusty-dusty PS4 and Xbox totally lost everything including people's respect.

Re: Xbox Squandered Over $300 Million Putting Call of Duty in Game Pass

chesheer

I mean, everything went as planned: Playstation people actually bought the game full-price, Xbox people paid nothing and used Game Pass. I'm not sure, though, they figured out why this should've been a plan in the first place.
Also, expecting explosive growth of Game Pass after Activision deal was strange given the fact that first Activision games started to appear in Game Pass in a year or more after the actual deal. And to this day there's only several games from huge Activision catalog that are available on Game Pass.
Unlike EA or Ubisoft who brought huge number of games at once and Microsoft doesn't even own them.

Re: Ghost of Yotei Gets Yet Another Trailer, This Time Showcasing PS5 Features

chesheer

This will probably be a good enough game, like the first one was. But me personally, I'm not interested at all. I don't see why I should be interested, it's basically the same big empty open-world with the same revenge story.
Sucker Punch, they can make good and solid games, but they aren't into anything groundbreaking or unexpected.

Re: Sony Removes Multiformat Revenue from Strategic Indicators

chesheer

@Oz_Who_Dat_Dare Given the fact that they almost shadowdrop their games on PC there's little surprise that results are far from ideal.
I can imagine that some top manager thinks that slapping a "Sony" label on a game on Steam just magically means everyone's gonna buy it twice.
But most of their games show extremely modest or catastrophic results on Steam because people don't know and don't care about their games without any solid marketing.
Also, their extremely stupid moves like obligatory PSN account just kill the rest of possible sales (thankfully, they lifted this restriction).
And that's a damn shame, because a lot of their games are amazing.

Re: FBC: Firebreak (PS5) - PS Plus Shooter Proves Remedy Should Have Stayed in Its Lane

chesheer

Thank you for the review. Hard pass for me. With all these semi-extraction-survival coop games there's one big question that arises: why play it after one or two hours? What's the long goal?
Unlocking things doesn't sound too exciting: look, now you can do the same things but now with this gun!
Looks like only Helldivers 2 thought about that: mind-numbing "fun" is not enough, there has to be some metaprogression or story development. Doesn't seem that Firebreak does any of these.

Re: Poll: How Do You Feel About The Last of Us Part 2, 5 Years Later?

chesheer

Hated it then, hate it now, will hate it in the future. And now thanks to this game hate all the future NaughtyDog projects.
I waited it so much, loved the first game so much and it was such a catastrophe. Games like these make you think gaming was a mistake. It's good there's not so many atrocious games like these.
At the same time, it's a technical marvel on par with Red Dead Redemption 2. Still to this date no one came even close to this game in terms of animation, visual fidelity, sound design. It's a true technical masterpiece from PS4 era.

Re: Poll: Are You Happy with Your PS Plus Extra, Premium Games for June 2025?

We all know that multiplayer games shooting right into PS+ (and Game Pass simultaneously) on release aren't exactly bangers (remember Destruction AllStars and Foamstars?) So Firebreak looks pretty bleak, to be honest.
And while Battlefield 2042 is actually pretty good now, I wouldn't exactly imagine hoards of people just waiting all these years to finally play this "banger".

Re: Reaction: Why There Are So Many Unnecessary PS5 Remasters for Games That Don't Need Them

chesheer

It's so simple: MONEY!!! (in Mr. Krabs voice).
Doing "remaster" of a game from late PS4 era for PS5 is simple, cheap and fast.
Remastering of a game from PS3, PS2 or PS1 era is hard due to absolutely incompatible architecture, it takes a lot of time and basically means building the game from the ground up.
In case of games like Horizon, Spider Man, Days Gone etc. remastering basically means "pulling the slider to the right".
Making a new game is even harder. And even longer. Sony needs cheap and fast money. Right now. Yesterday.
All main studios are busy with their new games. Some of them probably won't see the light of day in this generation. Meanwhile they have to release at least something for cash to flow.
So general public perception is absolutely fair.

Re: PS5 Simply Can't Match the Pace of 2023 in Europe

chesheer

@Matroska It would be so hilarious to see them postponing GTA 6 release to PS6 just to make another GTA5 remaster for new generation in the meantime and sell it once again. Just to be sure EVERYONE got it.
These days it won't even be surprising, to be honest.

Re: Poll: Are You Happy with Your PS Plus Extra, Premium Games for May 2024?

Pretty great games this month. I don't know, I've always found that "free games" and catalog games in PS+ subscription were really great for me. Yeah, not the latest, but often greatest.
Unfortunately, this is my last month. I don't plan on renewing my subscription now that it costs insane amount of money, even cheapest tier.
Online should be free on all consoles. I'm fed up paying for nothing.

Re: A Lot of PS4 Owners Have Yet to Upgrade to PS5

chesheer

I'm still in the PS4 camp. As a matter of fact, playing Cyberpunk 1.0 on PS4 Slim these days and having somewhat vicious fun.
I don't see myself upgrading any time soon. First, there's still not a single PS5 game that even remotely interests me (we have Horizon: Forbidden West on PS4, so we're covered). DS2 might be something, but it might be anything, to be honest. While PS4 still has enormous library of great games.
Second, paying $600 for a faster loading times in the same games is not a purchase I would consider reasonable.
I believe, Sony in a sense is a prisoner of its own success. PS4 has been so good, there's not a lot of reasons to buy PS5 even four years into new generation.

Re: Reaction: Why You Shouldn't Worry Too Much About PS5's Year-on-Year Decline

chesheer

Well, I couldn't care less, to be honest. What bothered me for some time is the fact that we are four years into new generation, and I still see no reason to leave my good ol' PS4 behind, i.e. not a single game (or games) that would justify almost $600 purchase.
This year Sony did Microsoft move and decided to spend the whole year without first-party titles.
Death Stranding 2 felt like a reason enough until Kojima showed some characters, and I don't know how I feel about going to Looney Tunes department.

Re: $70 Games Are Just a Phase, Believes Saber Interactive CEO

chesheer

I bet they will redefine what "base game" means. There are so many ways for sneaky business here: cut the story, restrict coop, nerf rewards and so on. If you want "full game", you'd pay $100 or more.
And they will shame everyone who won't agree to that, because "you're the reason why devs don't get paid well".
