I won't pretend to understand game design. These guys are clearly old-school masters of the craft...but how on earth does it take a whole team of 20+ more than 4 years to make a game boy game? What on earth is the holdup?
Nevertheless, they have my money day one. Game looks (and plays) outstanding
I'm a bit irritated that Ratchet and Clank, arguably more iconic than their PS2 counterparts (and obviously more relevant) didn't make the cut on those little figurines. Also, why no love for Jin Sakai? and Deacon? c'mon guys stop playing favorites
Tactics really is one of the those games that seems to transcend the medium. Like Tetris or Red Dead 2, there is something deeply amazing about it. It really has the magic of an all-time classic
this is 100% gatekeeping merch...but I kind of love it. You can only rep a game if you've proven that you enjoyed it enough to beat it and then get the plat. Thats some hardcore gamer energy and I dig it
this is a great announcement. I've heard from many fans that this is one of the greats in the series, and its been stuck on 3DS and PS1 for too long. I don't mind them streamlining it. Square has made a lot of good design decisions lately, so I'll trust them
oh yeah, this one is definitely on my list. Has a really unique aesthetic and even the way they are utilizing the companion in the game feels really fresh. Animation is top notch too!
This is kind of a bummer honestly, and makes me suspicious about the state of development. They confirmed to investors it would be coming this fall and there would be no delay. It even impacted their stock price when they made that announcement. Now they're delaying it by 6+ months. That's a big chunk of time. And lets be real, they've already been working on this game 6+ years.
@naruball you're right, competition isn't the only part of the equation in regards to price inflation. However, what I'm suggesting is that if competition did NOT exist in the game's space, we would be paying even MORE for games/accessories than we are now.
I've played the junk out of Balatro on Apple Arcade. its amazing on the ipad and on desktop. I was curious how it would play with controller. Time to jump in! I remember playing Boltgun for a few minutes when I was subscribed to Premium (I think?) and loved it. Now its mine forever. yeeeeah boi!
My kids and I played a surprising amount of One Strike on Switch. So much that I was kind of awestruck. This might be one to get. (it looks like a HUGE upgrade from the original)
@Godot25 YES! I absolutely agree with you there! Sony taking down ANY first party games (for any reason) is SO shady and crooked in my eyes. I remember they did the same thing to the original Spiderman right before the sequel came out. So greedy. I'll never forget that.
@Godot25 Forbidden West is in the top tier of sales though, and they DEFINITELY put that on Extra earlier than I think they wanted to. I remember hearing that internal estimates were that they missed out on several hundred millions of dollars in sales with the decision to put it on Extra so quickly. It makes SOME sense that they back-pedaled with that one. With infamous and Resistance...those franchises are dead. There's no reason NOT to keep them on Plus. You're not losing any sales.
@PloverNutter I THOUGHT I remembered the titles not being there. So they added them fairly recently? They may have done it as a market test to see if people would play them at all! 6 months would have given them enough data to make an educated decision. Yes, it "costs" them to have the titles on the service, but those are also beloved PS3 games. The cost is worth it, if only to buttress the library and justify the Premium tier. I think if they're taking it down its a strong signal that we have remasters on the way.
@tangyzesty agreed. There have been a few instances where the catalog allowed me to try a game long enough to determine if I liked it enough to buy it (I usually didn't) but on the whole Extra and Premium are just money sucking machines that rarely make sense for a hardcore gamer
the only incentive Sony would have for removing these first party games is that remasters are coming soon. Resistance makes total sense (and is VERY welcome) but infamous seems odd. You would think SP is neck deep in hitting their deadline for Yotei, who at that studio has time to touch up Second Son? That studio is notorious for not letting other people work on their babies, so an external studio is out of the question
This is high on my list, but I know Microsoft LOVES their sales, so I'm willing to wait 6-12 months to see this at half price. It will be a must buy for me though.
this actually looks REALLY solid. and it sounds like they are being appropriately (un)ambitious with it. no FOMO? looooove that. please just let me play the game when I feel like it.
On the one hand, I hate that Microsoft is stacking their releases like this. On the other...they have to get these games out before the PACKED fall/winter season. These games aren't going to stand a chance against the usual annual sports releases, COD, and the much-anticipated GTA6. They either release them now in the Spring/summer or wait until next year. I also have a big suspicion that they want these games to be ready for the Switch 2 launch. Let's also not forget about Ghost of Yotei, which is absolutely going to dominate the conversation on the month it releases. That one smells like a summer release to me

Re: Poll: Are You Playing Final Fantasy Tactics: The Ivalice Chronicles?
@Dalamar those are strong words my friend, but you're making me want to try Triangle. What about it specifically, did you feel was better??

@naruball Competition IS good. Trust me, if Nintendo didn't have competition, Mario Kart would be $150

@Godot25 You're not wrong! definitely a strange decision! but...LESS strange than this one lol. Don't you agree?
